I've been on 5 Disney cruises with my children nephews and parents and have had the best times. Christmas cruises and Panama etc would love to do more. Would love to see DCL come up with ideas for a club idea or is there any for this age group? My 2 kids both feel the same way that they're too old for the stack and too young for bars etc. Can the new ships make an area perhaps? Different or older age games? Virgin bars? Thoughts?

The 1820 Society is designed for those after they age out of Vibe. There's no dedicated space for them, as they can use any of the family and/or adult areas onboard, as they wish. The 1820 Society meets the first night of the cruise with a DCL CM to figure out what activities would interest them onboard during the cruise. If no one shows up that night, nothing gets planned.

An 18-20 year old can go to the lounges, just can't order alcoholic drinks.

I guess I never caught onto this. Is there a large group that join to your knowledge? This is good info. I probably missed it if the meet is day one.

The first meet is usually around 10 - 10.30pm on the first night. That is when they get to meet everyone in the group. My daughter has said there has been around 30 people (in January).
They have a lunch most days, and another activity in the afternoon. And they meet up in one of the clubs at night. My DD has usually found 2 or 3 people to talk with and meet up with during the day, without the society. But she enjoys lying in the sun in the adults areas and going to movies etc. She has been to most of the night meets.

My DD just sailed for the first time as an adult after two as a teen. She went to the first 1820 meeting and they planned some stuff. The level of activity all depends on who shows up. She enjoyed it. She also enjoyed plenty of deck chair time as it was her first break as a college freshman.

The size of the group depends mostly on what time of year it is. If college is in or on a break. On our cruise where our son used the club there were about 12-14 involved. They sort of broke out into two groups of about 5-6 (not always the same combinations) to do "stuff".

I've read that some cruises only 1 or 2 people show up on the first night - those are the cruises that typically don't get anything going.

That happened to our DS on a Feb cruise in 2015. He went to Diversions the first night where the meet up was supposed to happen and no one showed up, not even a Cast Member. He was disappointed as he had loved going to the Vibe for years, but he still managed to have a good cruise.

I am glad to hear about this, is the meeting time posted where we will know about it when we board in June or do we need to ask. This will be DD's first cruise as as "adult" and she wasn't really wanting to go for the same reasons the OP posted. And honestly, I was not ready to turn an 18 yo girl loose in the bar scene on her own.

It will be in the Navigator you get in the terminal. It's usually fairly late 10:00ish in one of the clubs. If you don't see it, ask at Guest Services.
