...

Really, I only get $10 or so all the time. I drive an Altima. LOL I just hate giving anymore money than I have to. :goodvibes

How rude! I would have probably wanted to report the idiot. I would have driven off, THEN thought of a smart reply!

As someone whose DH HAD an Escort, it WAS a crummy car. Had nothing to do with money at all. It was just a crummy car. <grin>

:rotfl:

I would never have heckled you but I'd probably be thinking the same thing that that man said out loud. But I just don't get why people choose to drive gas guzzlers.

Huh? This is America, we can drive whatever vehicle we like, we are paying for them AND the gas. :confused3

Because they do. Because they can. Because they get enjoyment out of driving a big car instead of a "crummy escort". Because they need plenty of room for their kids. Oh, but you wouldn't know about needing tons of room for kids, their friends, their car seats, their diaper bag, their extra change of clothes, their baseball bat and baseball mitt they need for practice this afternoon. Because they have dogs that like to go for rides.

Oh, and because they like to take up lots of room while waiting in the drive-thru.

Will your big ole' SUV fit through the drive thru?

I drive an SUV because it is the safest vehicle for me. I need the room for my family, I want to be able to see where I am going, and if I am in an accident, I would sure rather be in my SUV than in an Escort. The more metal I can afford, the better. I really don't care what other people drive, and don't care if they don't like what I drive.

Why do people always turn their "green" noses up on SUV's anyway? They are just a pick up truck with a cover on the back, and a pick up truck only carries 3 people. At least you can fit 8 in an SUV..You never hear folks say that pickups are bad...

With the price of gas varying up to $0.20 or more per gallon in a matter of a day or so I only put in gas in $10-$15 increments myself. Gee, the guy must have really went out of his way to check & see how much gas you were putting in....he must really have wanted to laugh at how much it would have cost you to fill it :scared1: and was shot down when you only added a little. Next time just tell the idiot "that is mans work but your babys daddy hasn't gotten off his butt to fill the tank since he got out of jail!" then nobody can claim your putting yourself above others with lesser expensive vehicles

I heckle my husband when he puts just $10 in his car. He does it all the time.

Drives me nuts. I fill it up all the way. This way, I don't have to stop in a week to do it again. I can go a week and half between fill-ups putting in $45 or so each time. I have a modest car, too. I drive a 13 year-old car.

I drive a Hummer H3 AKA a Baby Hummer. There is a guy in a beat up Honda Accord the rolls down his window and gives me the finger all the time. Then one day a driver of a Honda Pilot came up to me and asked how I can afford to put gas in "That Gas Hog"? WTH? So I informed this last poor sole that the engine in my Hummer was the same size (3.5 liter) as his "gas hog" and had one less cylinder than his (5 Cyl). He appoligized and walked away.

Probably because pick ups are used for hauling and working. We have one, we use it to pull a 40 foot trailer when we need to(not to mention hauling building materials in the back). However we do not ride around town in it, we have a small car for that. Some people do buy a pick up truck and treat it as a car, I also do not understand that. As far as SUV’s I think we see huge SUVs mostly driving around empty the majority of times. That might be why?:confused3

Hey, if that guy can't take it, he shouldn't dish it out.

I agree.

I've been heckled, but for a different reason.

I had some gearhead tell me that my husband would be mad at me for putting cheap gas in his Mustang. Ummm, my Mustang you Neanderthal!

I've had the car debate at work several times. I work for a 'green' non-profit. I totally believe in the work we do AND I own an Explorer - many people I work with bike to work and don't own a car at all. Whenever they question me, I tell them as soon as they make an affordable hybrid that will hold hockey gear for 4, all our camping equipment, our large dog kennel, tow our boat, and hold everything we need to live for 2 months (military moves = 2 months of homeless cross country excursions), then I'll consider a 'responsible' car.

First of all, I was running late for an appt, I didn't want to sit at the pump for 20 minutes. Second, I used a debit card from our old checking account that we are going to close soon. I think all that is in the account was $13!

My response: I'd rather be driving my Escalade with $10 worth of gas than YOUR Escort with a full tank. :)

I just couldn't believe the rudeness!

I LOVE your response. Why is it anyone's business how much you put in your tank???

I see a lot of single drivers in pickups with nothing in the bed.. I dunno, maybe they ARE all working with it...

The safety factor is still an issue with me. I can see much better out of my SUV, and if you and I were in an accident I'd rather have my family in my SUV than in your small car...Sounds selfish, but that's the way it is..

I drive an SUV and yesterday I only out $15 dollars in it. Why you might ask? I wasnt paying attention and the little gas light thingie came on. The only gas station around was a Sunoco, and around here Sunoco always charges the most for their gas. I did not want to pay full price for THEIR gas. I got enough to get me where I needed to go and then I will fill up at the station I like.

I haul more stuff and kids in my SUV. It is rarely empty. We haul furniture, save on gas for that delivery truck, mulch etc. We haul kids in carpools to bday parties and basketball games etc.

It is my life, my car, my family's saftey and my needs. I dont need to justify why I own a particular car. If someone doesnt like it they can pound sand!!!
