17 Days of Wishes Come to Life- A Sept. 08 WDW and DCL Adventure 3/27 new link posted

Ok - I. Would. Have. WALKED OUT!!!!!! on the DVC people. Not a chance in he** I would have waited that long. I don't care HOW busy they were. That was just plain rude. I agree with you. My time, especially my VACATION time, is just too valuable. I am soo angry for you. (rant over)

What she said! That was just crazy! But, being the super woman that you are, you didn't let it spoil your day - how do you do it?! I think I would have fumed for awhile :sad2:

How fitting was it for Goofy to win the jackpot during his birthday celebration?! Way to go Goofy!

Your dinner looked great again, just reaffirming to me that IF I can ever get DH out there again, we are going to HAVE to try The Wave!

The cake looked just scrumptious too - made a rumbly in my tummy just looking at it

It took me all day (in spits and spurts) to read your entire report. I could only read your postings, not the chatter. I must say you have an adorable family.
You win the prize for best planner. What fabulous surprises you were able to pull off for your family. I cannot wait to read more.
thanks for sharing this very special trip.

Wow - you have been busy! Great updates as usual. That DVC thing was so annoying - really, how do they expect to sell to anyone that way? But your day at the pool looked like great fun, love the detail pics of the WL, and Goofy's birthday celebration was great! That cake must have been scrumptious! :thumbsup2

Happy Thanksgiving!! :)

Loving all the updates Jay! :thumbsup2

DH and I are going to try to get in at The Wave for our upcoming trip, I've heard so many good reviews and your double-thumbs-up review clinched it!

That is UNREAL about DVC making you wait so long. We barely had a chance to sit down and finish a glass of water before a sales rep was sitting with us. It was just a fluke, for sure! Like you said though, they should NOT have booked that many people, or when they realized they were running behind called you before your appointment and pushed it back, or re-scheduled for another day. Very un-Disney like! :sad2: I hope on your next visit it goes much smoother, and quicker, for you....and your DH leaps at it! AKV is just stunning isn't it?

I love all the pool pictures, they are so fun! I only had a chance to enjoy the WL one evening and Henry was NOT too keen on it. But he did enjoy sitting on my lap while I dangled our legs into the hot tub!

The birthday cake looks sooooo tasty. I can't wait to read more!

And a very big Happy Thanksgiving to you!!!!!

Question:

Are you interested in adopting a 42 year old kid??!! :lmao: :lmao:

Ditto!:rotfl:

How cool is that?! Two updates!:cool1: Once again I am enjoying your updates, pictures, reviews and just everything. Especially pictures of cake:goodvibes !

I was hoping, since you seem to be pretty good at surprises, you could point me in the right direction for surprising some friends of ours. They are going to WDW in a few weeks. Their little boy is almost three and I would love to have something waiting for him at their resort. I looked at the Disney Florist website but nothing really caught my eye. I thought about doing something myself but wasn't sure about getting it to their resort. If I mailed it to the resort would the front desk deliver it to their room? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would just love to start their trip with a little Pixie dust. ;)

Look at that smile on Goofy! :cloud9: Very cool he won the jackpot! :woohoo: Your dinner at The Wave sounded delicious. I'm so glad the WL went all out on his birthday decorations, and I love that white chocolate Dale on the top! :cutie: What a nice evening for everybody!

I'm so excited for more (we've all been spoiled by these great updates! ) but DM and I may not get to read any more of your travels until mid-December! (But for a good reason! ;) ) It'll be fun catching up though, I can't wait for the cruise!

Hope you and all the boys and DH have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Jay!

All caught up finally. Happy Thanksgiving. I love the LP with his Dumbo how cute. The boys look like they were having a blast in the pool. I think we had the same room at WL. That view was sooooo pretty.

The DVC thing OMG you are a better women than me. I would have walked out. That is crazy how long you had to wait.

The Wave looks amazing I just booked dinner there for April. That cake looked awesome. *drool*

Thanks for all the updates!!!

Jay, you are a SAINT! We own two DVC contracts and love our current 'guide' but that's after dumping the first one because of poor treatment. I can tell you I *wouldn't* have been there when they came to get us after a 45 minute wait AND I would have been on the horn to their manager in short order. But then, we both know I, the old lady, am a MUCH bigger W*tch than you will EVER be, even with training. lol

That being said, we love our dvc and being members. I can't begin to describe how it feels to hear that 'welcome home' and know that it really IS home, for the length of our stay. I know you love your service, but there's also something very cosy about having my own snacks in the fridge, and coffee in my jammies, and feet up on our own coffee table watching football on Thanksgiving day while the scent of turkey wafts from the oven.

Speaking of which -
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Thanks for all those fabulous updates, Jay!!! They were sooo great!

DD and I read them together and when the pictures of the nugget and Aladdin came up, tons of "awwwww"'s were heard!! Beyond cute. I love the dynamic of your boys. Aladdin old enough to truly help take care of him, to guide him, to tease and play. Goofy right in the middle, able to give all that care but also young enough to play. Stitch right there to play and torment and eventually give him advice, too. LP is a lucky little nugget, for sure! All four of them are to have each other. I was an only child and would have loved to have that type of brother/sister relationship growing up and now as an adult.

I'm so happy that Goofy's birthday was so great! He has grown up a lot, too. We see it immediately in Aladdin and have to search a tiny bit in Goofy, but it's there. He looks like a deep thinker -- is he? And yet he can be so silly and I just love that.

I hope you and all your readers had a fantastic Thanksgiving. Ours was really great.

We leave day after tomorrrow!! DAY AFTER TOMORROW ... that just seems impossible!!! :rotfl2:

Hiya Jay, just subscribing to your report. Loving it so far, so much so I had to go back and read your last one. It took me nearly two days but what a wonderful time you had, you sure know how to make your vacations special for your boys. And by the way they are all gorgeous, little prince is just so adorable and its so lovely they all get on so well. Cant wait for the next update.

Sorry that I didn't get a chance to update while we were out of town this past week. I was hoping I might get a chance to pop on, but no such luck. I will work on getting together to post within the next few days. We have lots of unpacking, laundry and Christmas decorating to do!! I do so love the Christmas season!

I hope you all had a wonderful turkey day!

Up next: DHS!

Hi Jay!!! :goodvibes I'm WAY LATE to the party, but I'm here! Life has gotten in the way of the DIS so I haven't been on too much lately. However, I'm here now and subbing in so I can go back and read later!!! :yay:

:cutie:
Question:

Are you interested in adopting a 42 year old kid??!! :lmao: :lmao:

You really out-did yourself on this trip! :worship:

It is wonderful that you can give your children such a very special vacation celebration. They are adorable. This TR has brought a lot of smiles to my face while reading it.

Can't wait to read about the rest of this fantastic adventure!
Sure, the more the merrier, welcome to the family! ;)

You are sure right on that! My DS is 20, yet I remember so many cute moments as if they were yesterday - ( from mid-teens on, the cuteness factor is in short supply). I'd give just about anything to have just one day of that time back. The memories you're creating now will be ones you'll cherish forever because the younger boys especially won't remember all that much.

My son always enjoyed the water parks - esp. Blizzard Beach yet I see no mention of the Water Parks so far in the TR. Is this not something kids enjoy amymore or do they simply prefer the hotel pools?
We love the water parks. Blizzard Beach is dh's favorite. We didn't plan a day at the water parks this vacation because we had a lot of beach time planned for the second part of our vacation. It's actually the first vacation in years where we didn't head to a water park. And we did miss it.:)
Another great installment!!

1- no way would i have waited that long for DVC! Yes i want to have DH see and experience it too, but i'd have walked out right after teh 1st hour of waiting! how rude!!! :headache:

2 - love the fun at the pool!!!

3 - Way to go on winning at the arcade!! :thumbsup2

4 - Did you arrange the cake with concierge, or the cake hotline? Did you specifically request Dale, or did they offer him as a choice? he's too cute!!

I can't wait to hear about the cruise! And of course, yet another suprise in store!!
I would have walked out. I was steaming mad. DH wanted to stay. I think he liked that I was mad at "Disney". :lmao: I think he was hoping it would cure me of my addiction. That and he was hoping that I would get my fill of all things DVC right then and there and never mention it again. Sadly, that is not true, although I don't want to go back to that rep. ever again, I am still very interested in DVC membership.:thumbsup2

I called the concierge to set up the cake. I think they picked it up from the Grand Floridian (I am 95% sure on that one) and delivered it to our room. The lady I dealt with in private dining at the GF for our dessert party on the Grand 1 asked if we were also getting a Dale cake later in the week. I am sure that she wouldn't have known that if it came from another resort. I know that the GF won't make cakes for pick up, that you have to be staying or eating there, but I think that the IPO must have a way around that rule.

Super update!! You are spoiling us all with your Disney magic you are making! I'm glad your trip has had so many highlights! I love the interaction between your boys, the playing in the pool, the sweet pictures of Aladdin and LP, Goofy's big win, the amazing birthday cake (which looks so yummy!!).... all good! :goodvibes
Do any of your guys at home read your TR?
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
Yes, once the trip reports are done, I print them out and use them to scrapbook our trips. The boys love having their very own vacation story books to look back on. :thumbsup2

That birthday cake was so tasty. I really wish that I could have a slice of it right about now!

I just found your TR this morning. Popping in to say Hi! and what a wonderful, family you have. Alll of your boys are very handsome. You luckky lady, you. Going back to read now.
Hi there! Thanks, I think they are pretty easy on the eyes too. Welcome to the trip report!

So THIS is what happens while I'm busy sleeping!!! Jay is up posting like a crazy woman!

Another Surprise? I don't think we can stand another one (but we'll try). ;)

Ok - I. Would. Have. WALKED OUT!!!!!! on the DVC people. Not a chance in he** I would have waited that long. I don't care HOW busy they were. That was just plain rude. I agree with you. My time, especially my VACATION time, is just too valuable. I am soo angry for you. (rant over)

LOVE the pictures of Aladdin & LP, especially the one with Stitch's (?) head right there, too. sooo sweet.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GOOFY!!! My kids will be 12 next month. Where does the time go, Jay? :confused3

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!
HA HA HA, I would have walked out too, I didn't want to push dh to walk out though, when he said "let's just give him a chance" I was deluded into thinking he might actually want to buy into DVC. :rotfl2: It turns out it was just his ploy to make me so angry with DVC that I never considered wanting in on it again. Too bad for him,I have foiled his evil plan.

WOW, your three will be 12 next month?! Time really does rush by when you blink! And a belated very wish that you had a very happy Thanksgiving indeed. How did it go?

Very impressed w/ your boys' skills at the Jumpin Jackpot game. We all tried that at our local arcade recently and we all failed miserably.:sad2: It's harder than it looks.
They did NOT get their skills from me. I tried it and never got more than three jumps before I messed up (and three jumps was my best out of seven tries). Goofy really does rock at that.

So many great updates!!!!
 Thanks! Do you know where you chapstick is?

What she said! That was just crazy! But, being the super woman that you are, you didn't let it spoil your day - how do you do it?! I think I would have fumed for awhile :sad2:

The cake looked just scrumptious too - made a rumbly in my tummy just looking at it
Not super woman, just someone who didn't want to waste my time on vacation being upset.

YES, YES, YES, try the Wave! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You sure did catch up quickly! Welcome again! I think the prize I win might actually be for most addicted to planning. I think and rethink our vacation plans countless times. It's easy to figure out how to add in special fun when you fixate on your plans.

Pool time at WDW is always fun for us. I don't know why it's so much more fun than swimming here at home, but it is.

And oh that cake! I now have a true addiction to custard and strawberry filling!

Loving all the updates Jay! :thumbsup2

AKV was dreamy! That is where we would buy in if we do. Or at the CRV, I liked those too, the rooms not as much (although I did think they were very nice...just not as "me" as the rooms at AKV were), but the location cannot be beat and I do so adore the CR.

Awww Henry was not into the water? Just another 'first' for next time! Which for you...is not long now!!:goodvibes

Great updates! Thanks for sharing! Have a happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks! I hope your Thanksgiving was a very happy one!

Ditto!:rotfl:

Have you looked into having a basket made up by an outside person? I know that I have seen the names of some DISers who do that as their job (create gift baskets for WDW patrons). I don't remember who off of the top of my head. I am thinking 'Peggy' (as if that is helpful, sorry). But I know they were very willing to work with you as to making sure that they would create a basket suited perfectly for the person getting it.

Another idea would be to ship something down. Or you could try and call the Disney florist and see if they would be willing to work with you on what to send. I am sure they offer way more than the set list of items. I would check and see if the resort will charge a fee for accepting a package (a shipped one).

What about asking the mom or dad to 'carry' a special package down and pull it out and leave it in the room themselves?

What are you thinking of giving? I love surprises! :thumbsup2

Didn't they do a great job with those decorations?! I was really touched with the effort they put into making the room look so festive for him. It's just another example of great CMs making a great stay even better! I hope you are having a great time and that you and DM are both soaking up all of the magic and enjoying perfect health during your stay.:cloud9:

All caught up finally. Happy Thanksgiving. I love the LP with his Dumbo how cute. The boys look like they were having a blast in the pool. I think we had the same room at WL. That view was sooooo pretty.

Wasn't that room great? *Once it was clean I mean.* ;) If you like sea food, GET THE CRAB CAKES! OH SO GOOD!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
That sounds very nice (the whole turkey in the oven picture)! How would I go about switching guides (so that's what they are called) HA HA HA. I still want to look into it again. I just cannot imagine going back to the guide and having dh listen to anything he said. Not that he wasn't nice when he was there...but it sort of blows the relationship when you have a first meeting like the one we had. I am sure you understand.

We just hung a beautiful blue Mickey Mouse ornament on our tree. :cloud9: And I talked with the boys about you. The bigger three boys wanted me to say thanks again for the light up sticks and also to say hi. Stitch wants to know if your teddy dresses up for the holidays. If so, maybe you could be convinced to PM or post a picture for me to show him.

Thanks for all those fabulous updates, Jay!!! They were sooo great!

Thank you Heidi...you said such sweet things *gulp*. It was really touching for me to read that. I think you nailed it just right about the boys. I am so glad that our boys have each other.

WOW, that's a lot of reading. Thanks for doing it! They do get along very well (most of the time  ). Welcome!

Hello there! I hope you are doing well. It has been way too long! I hope life has been busy in a great way for you. It's good to see you here!:cutie:

Jay...WHERE are you??? I leave for Disney on Friday and I have yet to receive my detailed touring plans from YOU!!!!! ??????

:rotfl2: :thumbsup2 :cool1: popcorn:: :surfweb: :confused3

Welcome back! Hope you had a great week off! can't wait for the next segment!

Day 8...Disney Hollywood Studios!

This day was one we had been looking forward to. DHS is actually Aladdin's favorite park. Speaking of favorite parks, I just did a quick poll with my guys and it shakes out like this:

DHS-Aladdin, dh and myself

MK-Goofy, Stitch and myself

EPCOT-Goofy and myself

DAK-Aladdin, Stitch and myself

Notice I couldn't pick a favorite. I tried, I really and truly tried. The only park I could maybe remove from my favorite's list is DHS however, I love that dh loves it and I really enjoy him thoroughly enjoying himself at a park. And the more time I spend in that park, the more I come to love it. I guess when it comes down to it, I could no sooner pick a favorite park than I could pick a favorite child. I just happen to be Disney crazed and love them all!

But back to the point of this post, the eighth day of our vacation. This morning started in much the same way that every other morning had started so far, we slept in until our Little Prince woke us and then we quickly got ourselves ready for the day and headed up to the wonderful Old Faithful Club's lounge. Ahhh! I know I have said it before, but I want to say it again. Starting our day in the club lounge at the WL was such a relaxing and beautiful way to start a day. I loved looking down into the lobby below. I had worried before our stay about the lounge set up. Having heard that it was just "out in the hall" and scattered around the edges of the railings I was worried that it wouldn't have the same charm that the lounge at AKL had. Or that it would have even more of a feeling of just being an afterthought than the Sugarloaf lounge at the GF (not my personal style of lounge at all). I needn't have worried. The lounge at the WL rocked! It was cozy and expansive at the same time. There was always room to spread out and I never once felt as if I were sitting in a hall area. I included this in my TR just in case anybody else has that same sort of worry. AKL is still my very favorite club lounge (hands down) so far, but the WL is a very respectable second and a lovely place that I highly enjoyed.

After what had become our routine breakfast, we headed to the valet stand for our van. Up pulled the van and in we hopped. The thought of taking a baby, three other kids, two adults and all of our requisite stuff was too scary for me to contemplate on a bus. So, this week we stuck to driving. A short time after we pulled away from the WL we were pulling up at DHS. Everyone was all smiles and ready to fully enjoy our last park day. Here is a picture of the three oldest boys in the parking lot. I think you can see Aladdin's excitement with being at his favorite park.
WDW08021.jpg

We quickly made our way into the park. We had approached from a side entrance (not sure how we got there) and we hit the bag check area in a different place then we ever had before. We were on the far right side behind the bus stops (we had crossed over early) and the path we were on was very shady and nice and most importantly...EMPTY! It felt like he park was opening just for us. ;) We had a very friendly security CM who had a conversation with our boys and then gave them stickers at the bag check area. While we didn't talk long, nobody else even came up to the bag check stand during our conversation. I wish whipping through bag checks were always that quick! :thumbsup2

Once inside the park we headed in to one of the stores to do a bit of required shopping. Our Little Prince had spent over a week at Walt Disney World and was still lacking his own set of Mickey ears. To leave without a pair would not do at all. I was all set to remedy this, however, it didn't quite work out the way I had hoped. With giddy anticipation of a perfectly cute moment of Little Prince trying on his first Mickey ears, I grabbed my favorite pair off of the shelf and set them upon his little head. The second I did, his smile faded and he started to look upset. I thought that maybe the hat had something in it that was poking him so I took it off of him (and he started to smile again) and when I couldn't find anything that was poking him, grabbed another one just to be sure nothing would poke him and I tried it again. This time his reaction was a scream and a very red face. I didn't know if I should be comforting him (nothing was really wrong) or laughing at his reaction to Mickey ears. Who would have thought that a little guy who doesn't mind wearing any other hat we have ever put on his head would object to wearing Mickey ears?! But object he did! I didn't buy the Mickey ears after seeing his reaction, but I did take a super quick snapshot before I rescued him from the Mickey ears. The second I took the Mickey ears off of his head, he stopped crying and started smiling again.:lmao: I guess this means that he doesn't like Mickey ears. :lmao: This was the most upset he was the entire time we were at WDW!
WDW08022.jpg

Being as I didn't want to spend our day torturing our LP, we made our way out of the store and started toward the Star Tours ride. It is one of Aladdin's favorite rides. It was also a ride that Stitch and Goofy had yet to ride but that they were eager to try this trip. I was excited to be able to ride it again myself (it's another one of those rides I had to skip the year before due to being pregnant with our Little Prince). Along the way we saw the Indiana Jones stunt show area and had to snap a few pictures (being the big Indiana Jones fans that we are).
WDW08023.jpg

WDW08024.jpg

It's another example of the attention that Disney pays to detail when you really start to look at the area. See the machine gun on the roof?
WDW08095.jpg

WDW08025.jpg

WDW08026.jpg

Although we were having fun taking note of the cool details, we didn't linger for long. We were anxious to blast off with our own robot guide (however inept he might turn out to be ;) ).
WDW08027.jpg

WDW08028.jpg

As we made our way past the Jedi training stage area, we saw that a Jedi master was about to begin training the young volunteers from the audience. I had read about Jedi training before arriving and wanted to make sure our boys had a chance to see a training show (and hopefully get picked to go up on stage) but we were arriving a bit late, so we made our way past the area and I made a mental note to return later in the day.
WDW08029.jpg

As we made our way into the queue for Star Tours, we saw two storm troopers waiting for their turn to appear on stage. They were totally creepy in a menacing sort of way. They just stood and stared you down when you passed, turning their heads to follow your movements. All three of the boys edged away from them as we entered the line. :rotfl:
WDW08030.jpg

There was really no line to speak of, and within minutes we were strapped in and off on our space adventure. Along the way, the boys were happy to see R2D2 and C3PO along with various other robots. I hadn't noticed all of the detail in this queue before seeing the boys look so closely.

After the ride, we got to talking to a ride CM that was near the exit. She told us that the voice of the robot piloting our spaceship was none other than that of Pee Wee Herman! My boys had no idea who he was. :rotfl: I commented on how I didn't recognize his voice and she made us an offer we couldn't refuse...another ride on Star Tours! Here's where it gets strange, she didn't offer to 'let us in the back way', she told us to go through the queue again (there was no line so it was no big deal for us to do it) and that she would meet us at the start of the ride (where you load into your space vehicle). Before we left she told us to listen for someone being paged as we walked through the queue. So...we quickly made our way through the store, out the door, down the walk and back around to the start of the queue. We waved to dh and told him that we were going to take one more trip if he was game. He said sure and told us that he and our LP would run over and get us fast passes for Toy Story Mania. He had been planning on doing that during our first tour through space, but I had forgotten to leave the park tickets with him. So I took off the small messenger bag I was wearing with our park tickets, cash, cell phone, camera and other 'important stuff' and passed it to him. Think of a relay handoff. :lmao: The boys were in that much of a hurry to ride again.:lmao: Stitch and Goofy were very excited after their first ride and didn't want to waste time in doing so once again. We just beat the crowd that filled in right behind us after the Jedi Training ended. PHEW, there were a lot of people BEHIND us in line. ;) As we led the pack to the loading area we listened and heard someone being paged. We heard them paging 'EGROWEG SACULL'. Okay, no idea who that is, but we memorized the name to report back that we had heard it if the CM asked us once we got back to the loading area. When we got to the loading platform, the CM who we had spoken to wasn't there. We were sent to a row to watch the little pre ride video. We watched it and still no sign of her. I told the boys that I bet she had gotten busy. It was no big deal really, we were going to ride again anyway. We just wanted to know what she wanted us to notice about the page. Just as the rows started to load, she appeared and asked us to step out of line. While the rest of our spaceship loaded without us, she pulled us over to the side and asked us if we had heard the page. We said that we did and told her the name that we had heard "Egroweg Sacull" she asked us if we could guess who's name that was a play on. We had NO idea. Turns out I was spelling it wrong. We didn't hear them say 'EGROWEG SACULL' but EGROEG SACUL which is none other than GEORGE LUCAS backward! Another cool factoid that I was excited over learning! We talked with her about where we were from and the boys were more than happy to share their favorite Star Wars characters with her. She made them feel important by really listening to their answers. **FYI, Stitch picked 'Master' Yoda (yes, he always says "Master" before he says Yoda, it cracks me up), Goofy picked R2-D2 and Aladdin said his favorite character was Obi Wan Kenobi.**

About this time the next group was finishing up watching their pre-ride video. For some reason, the row right next to us had nobody in it? Are you ready to hear the super cool, amazingly awesome surprise that I didn't have any part in planning?!
