Our DVC vacation starts in July. I though that maybe we would arrive a night early to get an early start the next day. My son really likes Pop Century. I was shocked to learn that a night in a standard view room including tax came to $162! So thankful we purchased DVC and locked in at 2004 prices!

I also was looking for one night at the values for our November trip since we arrive later in the evening. We did this once before years ago and I think I paid somewhere around $85 for the room. I too was shocked at how much the price had gone up!

Its $164 per night because the rooms are so large and luxurious compared to a $39 per night Super 8! :rotfl2:

That is high, but I wouldn't compare it negatively to whatever off site chain you can mention. I've brought our DGC over to POP's food court which we all love, and they really enjoyed seeing the resort and it's icons.:goodvibes

Love my DVC too!:goodvibes

sounds like a weekend day @ rack rate:scared1:. if you're AAA perhaps 10% discount:confused3otherwise keep checking to see if they'll offer a room only public code.

Yes we are AAA. I'll check it out. Thanks for the tip!

Also, we are planning to purchase annual tickets. I believe AP's can get some discounts too?

If you tell me the date, I will check what the AP rate is...

I added 2 nights before my BLT stay and am out of points :( .. Aug 25th and Aug 26th are only 75$ and 82$. I am not sure what discount I used, but for that price I would be at the Swan and Dolphin. I would look around even call a travel agent, that seems way outta wack.

I am not super familiar with the AP site, but it will only show me discounts thru April 16th.

Yeah we drove and arrived at POP very early in the am. We wanted out of the car so I was willing to pay for a night to get into our room early. I was thinking $60-$75 and it was twice that!! We waited it out and the very nice cm was able to check us in at 7am.

Now I make sure we have a room on points no matter what time we plan to arrive because it's cheaper than rack and the beds are bigger:)

:scared: Wow. That sure stings! What happened to the under $100 a night days?

I've been tracking our trips ever since we purchased points back in 2007. Even with maintenance fees, I'm still thrilled with our purchase and the savings/flexibility it provides. Would purchase all over again! :thumbsup2

You might consider booking the room only then rolling the dice with online discount hotel sites. The rates can get quite low a week or two before your trip. Since it is only one night you can get some big savings. We just got back and we got a 3 1/2 star hotel for about 60 bucks. We arrived late in the evening and didn't want to use more points for such a small amount of time.

You could book a room with Disney now so that you won't be homeless, then try your luck at getting something last minute and be able to cancel within the 5 day cancel period. If you can't find anything, then you still have your room.

July might be busier and not as good for deals, but it can't hurt to try.

Some how WDW has to get it's money back from all of the free dinning they have been offering:lmao:

Wow! We used to stay at the moderates for about half that price. However, that was pre-DVC (before 2002). Recently I made reservations for Mom and Dad at the BC for 9 nights and it cost them over 4 thousand dollars. Boy, am I glad that we own DVC!

Agreed! I can't believe the rack rate of the values.
Keep looking for room only discounts. The AP discounts only get released 2-4 months before a stay. Last year, AP rates for July were released in mid/late March.

At that price, they won't be getting it from me! LOL

My son loves Pop, but I can't see paying that price for double beds, rough towels and such a small room!

You may want to keep eyes open for deals at Swan/dolphin too. I was just able to book 2 nights to add on in March for 199.00 night ( I checked POP too and was shocked at prices).. BUT, I remember last summer- we were able to book a room at the Swan for 99.00 a night.

I seem to remember reading that the Swan/Dolphin have a teacher discount. I'll have to check into that! I can see $199 for a quality hotel. I'm just a bit taken back by the high cost for a value resort. In my mind, values start at $79 and moderates at $109. I guess I'm dating myself!
