Who's Who!
Myself: DW who is a trip planer, tour guide etc!
(This is my 25th trip!)
DH: Who loves Disney and trip planning as much as I do!
DS: 16 yr. old and vows to start his family (when he has one) on Disney yearly vacations! He's been going since he was 5!
Relatives: My mother and father, their 6th trip with us! 70's and in great shape!
Sister and Brother-in-law who retired and are Full-timers and are spending the winter in Florida anyway!
Sister and her 6 yr. old daughter. Both went May 1999 with us and whose daugther is the original chicken girl!
Brother and his 2 daughters, ages 10 and 12.
Friends:
Couple from our church and their 2 sons, ages 12 and 16. (Who were more thankful to us than my own family!)
Today I got up at 5AM to do my trip report from the pervious day. I am an early riser and I find out that by doing my trip reports the very next morning, I don't forget anything! Just a tip! Well anyway today's weather is supposed to go to 71 degrees and then start to drop by the afternoon and cool down to 65. I advise everone to dress warm! The one family from my church is not arriving until the 19th so we have 10 with us today. My sister and her husband who are Full Timers decided to skip AK today.
Mickey woke all the troops by 6:30AM. I then made sure by going around knocking on the doors! Commando mode was in full speed ahead today! I mean we did relax yesterday! So of course I got the usual complaining and grumbling.....Do we realy NEED to be up this early???...Duhhhhhh yeah I reply if you want to see the animals and do everything. Well, amazingly eveyone was ready and we jumped on the short bus ride to AK by 7:30AM.
We all wore pants and sweatshirts since it was cool and windy this morning. We walked right on the Kilaminjaro Safari after being acousted by some monkeys from the Tarzan show at the entrance. They were cute and wouldn't let my dad pass by so we got some good photos. Of course my DN the 'original chicken girl' screamed and hid behind her mother! Anyway the ride was great and I saw a lot of animals! The cheetahs were running around very fast! And I finally saw the male lion although he was just sitting on a rock he looked regal!
We then walked over to ITTBAB and got right on it! Amazingly chicken girl sat through it all. Last May 1999 she had to be escorted out. This time she wanted her older cousins to see what a BIG GIRL she was! By the end of the trip she was doing EVERYTHING! Everyone loved this show.
We then walked over to Dinosaur and my DM took my DN to the Boneyard to play. They had a blast and she did not want to leave. So as we are on the ride, we waited 10 min. in the standby line. I have a stop watch on my watch and when we get in a line I start it as a game to see how long it takes to get on the rides. Usually it is much quicker than the posted wait times! But as I was saying, as we were on the ride getting ready to burst throught time and the doors the ride stops! We are experiencing technical difficulty please stay seated. So we did, for 15 min. eventually the lights came on and the doors to the entrance of the ride opened so we could see in but no dinosaurs since we were right at the beginning of the ride. Anyway they had to evacuate the ride and we had to wait our turn for them to come empty our car. The had to press the seatbelt release and then use a large step ladder to have us get out of the car and down on the floor. You don't realize how high up you are. We wished we could have been inside to see all the dinosaurs with the lights on but oh well. They started to let the people out who were stuck farther into the ride first befor they came and got us. By this time the whole building was empty and I got some good shots of alll the vehicles without anyone in line waiting to get in. They gave us a VIP pass good for 10 people anytime and anyday! So we left and walked over to the boneyard to pick up the others.
We had PS for 11:30 for Rainforest for lunch but we still had time so we decided to go see Tarzan Rocks. Great show and boy that Tarzan....was he ever buff!
Everyone loved the show especially the roller bladers! We then walked over to the Rainforest.
My dad and I decide to buy the $50 certificates to get a $20 Millenium buck for each one you buy. Now just my DH and myself are returning to WDW in Feb. for 6 days at the BC for my birhday and the millenium bucks are good for Jan. until Feb. 28th 2001! So as we were purchasing them the girl at the register told us we could not use our $50 certificates today! Well, I had called and asked about this deal and of course I had the name of the women I spoke to so I asked ot talk to a manager and she was so nice she said of course she would validate them for me since that was what I was told but normally they are not good on the day you purcahse them. It is always good to get names! We got seated in about 15 min. and had a great table in the Gorilla section. They were all wearing Christmas stocking hats!
Our server was fast and good! We had the best lunch! We started out with specialty drinks, no alcohol but cappacinos, milkshakes etc. We had the LARGE Appetizer platter that was $21 and fed all of us! It was very good! Some had soup and we had the Mogambo shrimp, the Pastalayan Shrimp which is a spicy dish, 2 child's Pizzas, 2 specialty burgers, 1 grilled ckn. ceasar salad, boy was it large! 1 Planet Pasta with sausage. Boy I am gettign hungery and some desserts. THe total bil came to $174.00 for 10 people so I thought it was fair considering what we ate! I also joined the Rainforest Club for $10 and I got a $10 cpn good on my next visit and another one was mailed to me! We love the ARainforest. Of course we all dressed warmly because it is chilly in there!
After our long and filling lunch we walked over to Dinosaur after checking with Guest Services by the Rainforest to see if it was running, it was and we used our pass to go on. This time it worked fine!
We then left the AK by 1PM and back to rooms to go to hot tub. I took all 3 of my DN's and we rented bikes at the Coronado...$5 per hour per bike. And I took them all around and showed them all the rest of the place including the quiet pools and the beautiful fountains in th Casitas. We then went back to the room and got ready to catch a bus to MGM to see the Osborne lights. It was just staring so it was packed with wall-to-wal people but after we walked through with the 3-D glasses we split up and some went to go on TOT and RNR while others went on GMR. We left MGM by 8PM and headed back to Coronado.
One thing to mention....the Coronado is usually the first bus at many of the pArks. It is one of the most conveinent bus stops. They also opened up Bus Stop #3 at the Coroando located in the Rancho Section while we were there.
Since we did not eat diner after that large lunch some of us went to the Pepper Market and some of us to the Mayan Grill located in the Coronado to order salads and apps. I actually shared a Seafood Comdo Grill with my DH it was grlled lobster tail, shrimp, a small piece of salmon and yucca fries and it was great! We managed to go back to room and hit the hot tub one more time before bed! It was another good day!
Tomorrow it is cooloing down into the low 60's and forcast tonight is 40 and chilly!
Tomorrow is a day for everyone to be on their own!
