To introduce ourselves, myself, 56 and slower than the ice age due to some medical problems and dh, age 70 and in great health due to absence of any form of physical activity. After being on a low carb diet for a considerable time I was looking forward to partaking of some forbidden foods while enjoying the atmosphere (and the Eat to the Beat concerts) and dh, whose hobby is eating was just looking for food. LOL

Oct 14th, back to the Biergarten for lunch as we were not able to get into Garden Grill as planned. Met some really interesting Morman couples. I have a dear friend who is Mormon so we had some commonality. They also all ordered water to drink so we were compatible there as well. I resent paying $2 for a drink of something that costs less than a nickel to make. Yep, I know many disagree but there it is. A dollar saved is a dollar toward our next AP. LOL Same food as before and great entertainment as well as table mates.

:hyper:

We had an easy time getting on many rides today and Tom rode Test Track while enjoyed a tour of the butterfly gardens. No fool I. With the luxury of time we were able to poke into the nooks and crannies of many of the WS countries today before heding over to see the Temptations. The line was not as long as the one for the Beach Boys but the concert was entertaining and we stayed for all the performances.

October 15th - We met the most delightful family from the Mobile area on the bus to the parks. They all doted on the young son who was most engaging. Magic Kingdom was quiet this day so we immediately went to Fantasyland and were able to get onto many of the rides quickly. I managed to convince one woman whose small daughter wanted to ride Dumbo more than anything in the world that a five minute wait was NOT a long one. Don't believe she had ever been to DW before. She did not know how lucky she was. LOL I tried Peter Pan for the first time. I am terrified of heights but had an easy time of it and will do it again and again. Wonder how many other delights I am missing? Things just went perfectly all day with us even being able to walk right into many of the shows like Country Bears and Hall of Presidents. We were charmed. We ran into "LAF" near the Columbia House. She is a fellow DISer and had noticed my shirt. They have just moved to Orlando and her son works at AK. We ate dinner at the Crystal Palace (our favorite MK restaurant) for an early dinner before I went to stake out seats at the RR station for Spectomagic and to see Wishes for our very first time, from the park. I went a bit early as I had promised Janet2K that I would be holding seats for her and about a minute later she was right there. She had seen my lime green shirt from Main Street. It pays to be large sometimes. LOL The three hours from 6 to 9 never went so fast before. I was charmed with her personality and zest for life and intelligence. She gave me a first hand account of her 20th anniversary event at the Great Movie Ride. I did not even know such magic was possible. We stayed and watched the second showing of Spectro while the masses streamed from the park and then leisurely sauntered to the buses to avoid having to stand. We lucked out in that one bus was leaving as a new one approached so we did not have to wait long AND had seats. Who should appear, right in front of us, but the family from Mobile, once again!! We chatted about our day and as they were exiting the father asked the boy to tell his name. "My name is John Kerry", he replied, as his father grinned and admitted that they were Republicans. Made our perfect day even more perfect.

October 16th - We drove over to Chili's for my very favorite non diet meal before driving to MGM to attempt the Millionaire show again. I got into the hot seat on our second game. Swallowing my heart in my throat and giving a high five to another young man I met in line (I seem to be adept at meeting special children) who was astonished when I told him that was a grandma of six and told me, with such sincerity, that I could surely not be that old. (I wanted to take him home with me) When asked who was rooting for me I told of my dh and this young man and they put the cameras on him and chatted a bit. I hope he was as proud of himself as I was. Very intelligent and great vocabulary and destined to be in the hotseat one day. I had given him several hints so it is a matter of time. I am rambling on to avoid telling you all that even though I swiftly took care of the first set or so of questions I faltered on a word definition. Moi?? Yep, I had never heard of the word but I can usually guess by checking the root etc. Had it narrowed down to two and asked for the audiences help and they chose differently than my first choice by 60% and I trusted them. Hey, they ARE right 90 plus % of the time!! NOT this time. :bounce: I forgive their dear hearts, I know they tried and after all I was the one who made the choice. How can you be mad at people who love DW as much as they do?

For those of you who might have noticed that most days there is only one meal listed it is because we basically only ate one main meal a day. I really cannot eat more than that without getting sick and fatter anyway. I usually fixed something simple in the room (I drink a can of V-8 most mornings) and we might have had a snack once a day and something light when we got back to the room. I love those packets of tuna they have out now, flavored no less.

More as I get time. If you have any questions please ask. If I know I will tell you. If I do not I will admit it. My mom always said that was a sign of an intelligent person.

Hi again Linda. Just giving you encouragement so you keep the reports coming... 13 or 14 days left! :) I can only imagine being at WDW at such a "slow" time... Someday when school doesn't matter, I will come at such a time, if there are any slow times by then!

We also love the Crystal Palace. Am thinking I will drive the hour to your place to see pictures.

xoxo

Hi Colleen

You want to drive all the way to my place? Will be more than an hour as I live on the other side of Columbus though. Not planning on doing any decorating this holiday season as we have been gone and are going to be gone again but you are most welcome or we can meet in the middle. I have the pictures ready to take to WM but they will not be back for a few days.

If you want I will gladly meet you in the middle or could even arrange to take Tom to his brothers in Bloomington and steal away to meet you there. Another bil just bought a townhouse in Bloomington so there is major pressure on us to move there also.

Every trip to DW is unique and the first trip after your kids grow up and you go on your own is bittersweet. You miss some things but find other pleasures that you have not experienced before. Then, when you take the grands for the first time it is even more different and wonderful. LOL

SG/Linda

Linda, my travels are only limited by the coming and going of the school bus. I would absolutely love it if you would let me know when you are next in Bloomington. I would love to see the pictures. It's time we met! Promise to keep me posted when you are next in Monroe County. Tell Tom it is time for him to visit brother! :)

xoxo

What a great report! Thank you for sharing! Great to see another fellow Hoosier enjoying the Disney magic!

Hi there Iott family. Maybe our paths will cross at DW one day? You just never know. Got any kids I can play with? I just love 'em. LOL Glad you like the report. I should edit it some as I keep remembering things. Is not a report for those who like to fly high though. We do not do without anything we really enjoy but have found that we really enjoy lots of the off site places even more than some of the overpriced and undervalued places on site. If more people think like us maybe they will improve on site?? With the short hours it is a whole lot easier to do than before.

Colleen, I will try to contact my bil and see if I can set up a visitation for Tom. I could use a few days off. Is hard enough being cooped up in a huge house like this but after three weeks in an AS room and then the car my nerves are on edge. How can I miss him if he NEVER leaves? (grin) If I brought him down on Thursday evening after he bowls it would be too late for you to meet me. What day or time is good for you and I will see how I can arrange it.

SG/Linda

Your reports just make me smile! I think that it is great how friendly you are, spreading the Disney magic. BTW, I am Mormon, too.:wave2:
Keep 'em comin'

Great reports, Linda! It's nice to take a "virtual" trip to WDW with you! Can't wait for the upcoming installments! So glad to hear that you and Tom had a wonderful and eventful trip and a Happy Anniversary! And so glad to hear that you met and spent some time with Janet2K, too! Keep those great reports coming, and see you in the Suite! :)

eternaldisneyfan, I am not all that darned perfect. LOL I have all kinds of friends and would be greatly bored to only know people who are exactly like me. LOL I love meeting new people ane learning new things. Now you have frightened me to report something I had forgotten earlier but I will post it anyhow. I will confess to how unfriendly I can be also. A lady on the bus was kind of rude to me until she found out that I had something she wanted, information. I did not tell her my most favorite place to watch the parade, I told her my second favorite place. See, told you I was a meanie. grrrrrrrr(IN)

When we sit at the RR to watch the parades we pull a table and chairs up to the rail and when it gets near time for the parade we pull back a bit and let all the small children sit in front of the table so that they have front row seats for the parade. Is not a big thing as we still have a good view. I wish more people would do so. It gives three levels of viewing as the children are in front and then we are seated at a table and then others can stand behind us and have a good view as well. Sharing is a good thing.

Rider, you already know I ain't perfect so I will not waste time telling you such. :hyper: See you in our new and improved Suite soon.

SG/Linda

Don't believe Linda - she is neither "mean" nor "imperfect"! :)

I am imperfect AND mean! IOW, I am not very darned good at being mean. (laughing)

I am old, slow and late though. (sigh) Will report this evening if I get a chance. Got to drive hubby bowling. I do this to protect the other people on the road.

SG/Linda

I have nothing to say but (never stopped me before) I just wanted to bump this report up to join the other ones. It is lonely way down here.

SlightlyGoofy, I have got to get myself a lime green Dis shirt just like yours. It is the perfect way to let other people know what "community" you belong to. :)

I had so much fun with you and your handsome husband that evening. The two of you are so adorable together. I can easily see why your marriage has been so successful. Thank you so much for spending your evening with me. It was truly one of the highlights of my vacation. I hope we can do it again soon.

Yep, it takes a certain kind of person to wear lime green and purple. LOL It sure does make it much easier to spot a DISer for sure but I am not sure than even we want to wear the same shirt (whether clean or not) every single day. I get as much notice from the pin (worn close to my face) and still think that a lime green sunshade or hat is the best way to go. Much easier to spot in a crowd.

I am glad that you enjoyed our evening as much as I did. Is that not the very best place to watch it from? (if you can find someone to hold the seat for three hours before the parade LOL)

SG/Linda

SlightlyGoofy, it was definitely a wonderful spot to watch the parade & fireworks from. Thank you, again, for getting to that spot early so that we had wonderful seats.

I like the idea of a lime green hat or visor. Like you said, it would be easier to spot in a crowd. ::yes::

Janet, let us not forget that the sun visor has to have one of those magic buttons (like they have in some pins) that will light up when we are within a certain distance from another DISer. I am serious, I think it is possible. At DW all things are possible.

SG/Linda

Who promises NOT to sue if someone uses my idea. A free hat would be nice though.
