To introduce ourselves, myself, 56 and slower than the ice age due to some medical problems and dh, age 70 and in great health due to absence of any form of physical activity. After being on a low carb diet for a considerable time I was looking forward to partaking of some forbidden foods while enjoying the atmosphere (and the Eat to the Beat concerts) and dh, whose hobby is eating was just looking for food. LOL
Oct 14th, back to the Biergarten for lunch as we were not able to get into Garden Grill as planned. Met some really interesting Morman couples. I have a dear friend who is Mormon so we had some commonality. They also all ordered water to drink so we were compatible there as well. I resent paying $2 for a drink of something that costs less than a nickel to make. Yep, I know many disagree but there it is. A dollar saved is a dollar toward our next AP. LOL Same food as before and great entertainment as well as table mates.
We had an easy time getting on many rides today and Tom rode Test Track while enjoyed a tour of the butterfly gardens. No fool I. With the luxury of time we were able to poke into the nooks and crannies of many of the WS countries today before heding over to see the Temptations. The line was not as long as the one for the Beach Boys but the concert was entertaining and we stayed for all the performances.
October 15th - We met the most delightful family from the Mobile area on the bus to the parks. They all doted on the young son who was most engaging. Magic Kingdom was quiet this day so we immediately went to Fantasyland and were able to get onto many of the rides quickly. I managed to convince one woman whose small daughter wanted to ride Dumbo more than anything in the world that a five minute wait was NOT a long one. Don't believe she had ever been to DW before. She did not know how lucky she was. LOL I tried Peter Pan for the first time. I am terrified of heights but had an easy time of it and will do it again and again. Wonder how many other delights I am missing? Things just went perfectly all day with us even being able to walk right into many of the shows like Country Bears and Hall of Presidents. We were charmed. We ran into "LAF" near the Columbia House. She is a fellow DISer and had noticed my shirt. They have just moved to Orlando and her son works at AK. We ate dinner at the Crystal Palace (our favorite MK restaurant) for an early dinner before I went to stake out seats at the RR station for Spectomagic and to see Wishes for our very first time, from the park. I went a bit early as I had promised Janet2K that I would be holding seats for her and about a minute later she was right there. She had seen my lime green shirt from Main Street. It pays to be large sometimes. LOL The three hours from 6 to 9 never went so fast before. I was charmed with her personality and zest for life and intelligence. She gave me a first hand account of her 20th anniversary event at the Great Movie Ride. I did not even know such magic was possible. We stayed and watched the second showing of Spectro while the masses streamed from the park and then leisurely sauntered to the buses to avoid having to stand. We lucked out in that one bus was leaving as a new one approached so we did not have to wait long AND had seats. Who should appear, right in front of us, but the family from Mobile, once again!! We chatted about our day and as they were exiting the father asked the boy to tell his name. "My name is John Kerry", he replied, as his father grinned and admitted that they were Republicans. Made our perfect day even more perfect.
October 16th - We drove over to Chili's for my very favorite non diet meal before driving to MGM to attempt the Millionaire show again. I got into the hot seat on our second game. Swallowing my heart in my throat and giving a high five to another young man I met in line (I seem to be adept at meeting special children) who was astonished when I told him that was a grandma of six and told me, with such sincerity, that I could surely not be that old. (I wanted to take him home with me) When asked who was rooting for me I told of my dh and this young man and they put the cameras on him and chatted a bit. I hope he was as proud of himself as I was. Very intelligent and great vocabulary and destined to be in the hotseat one day. I had given him several hints so it is a matter of time. I am rambling on to avoid telling you all that even though I swiftly took care of the first set or so of questions I faltered on a word definition. Moi?? Yep, I had never heard of the word but I can usually guess by checking the root etc. Had it narrowed down to two and asked for the audiences help and they chose differently than my first choice by 60% and I trusted them. Hey, they ARE right 90 plus % of the time!! NOT this time.
I forgive their dear hearts, I know they tried and after all I was the one who made the choice. How can you be mad at people who love DW as much as they do?
For those of you who might have noticed that most days there is only one meal listed it is because we basically only ate one main meal a day. I really cannot eat more than that without getting sick and fatter anyway. I usually fixed something simple in the room (I drink a can of V-8 most mornings) and we might have had a snack once a day and something light when we got back to the room. I love those packets of tuna they have out now, flavored no less.
More as I get time. If you have any questions please ask. If I know I will tell you. If I do not I will admit it. My mom always said that was a sign of an intelligent person.
