Ok, just got the email that in two days they will have 16% cash back on over 150 stores....any guesses on whether or not it will be Disney friendly?! :) Thinking I may need to buy some tickets soon, or book a hotel, and would love to take advantage! Any one have a historical perspective on this sale?!

Wowza.... I've gotta check this out later today! Thanks for the heads up... I didn't get a chance to check my email before I left the house this morning......P

I say it is not possible for Disney to be at 16%.

The business model for ebates and other companies like them are based on the affilate amounts the store/website gives for each sale/referral. Disney probably gives a 6% affiliate percentage to all websites that sends customers to Disney. Ebates gives half of that affilaite money to you for making the purchase through an ebates link.

I am willing to bet that any company on the ebates list that is currently giving 12% or better will be at the 16% mark. Disney is at 3% now.

They are more than likely referring to buying them from Orbitz or Cheaptickets through ebates if the cashback is increased not directly from Disney.

I believe it was Orbitz has gone as high as 20% cash back for activities? Which is what Disney tickets fall in under.

Gotta check how much $ I have in the travel fund :) I took advantage of the Orbitz at 20% once and got tickets to WDW. That was about 3 years ago - I am finally using those tickets next week. The savings from the cashback plus buying before 2-3 price increases was awesome.

yeah, I was meaning any place that I could purchase tickets or hotel rooms.

How did the ticket purchase from Orbitz work? I thought it was a voucher with specific dates on it?

Not really. They make you select a "pick-up" date, but you can get the codes and link them to your MDE account at any time. They're regular tickets with all the normal expiration rules.

When I got the deal (about 3 years ago) I took the voucher to one of the ticket windows and got hard tickets. I held on to those and for this next trip I put them into my MDE. I had to get more tickets for some family members and I got them from Cheaptickets - for those tickets I just put the ticket numbers on the voucher into MDE. They show up like my other tickets and everything is linked :)

You do have to enter dates - but the dates do not show up on the actual voucher. The WDW vouchers have no dates (other than purchase date) but the DLR ones I got (for our trip in Oct) have "valid dates".

not to hijack.... but you're saying that you bought the ORbitz vouchers, input a date, turned them into real tickets and used them at another later date, and it worked? I was wondering if it would.... but I guess another question is,do you HAVE to turn them into hard tickets within that specified date from Orbitz?

So you can buy the tickets through Orbitz and then use them whenever? Sorry, just trying to figure this out!

I just got an email. The first four were ebags, Toms, saks, and American Eagle.

Yes, unused WDW tickets do not have an expiration date so you can buy them today and use them whenever. Once you use them (go into onw park) they are good for 14 days. DLR tickets do expire at the end of the year.

That is the one thing I am not 100% about since I bought through Orbitz but was able to get the hard tickets at WDW (was there on FD so did not use the tickets I had just purchased). This year I did buy tickets for other family members (who are on my MDE) and all I did was add the voucher to my MDE and each person shows as having the correct ticket attached to their MB. I will be taking the voucher with me JIC but I think that all we need is for the info to be on the MB - I know it might be too late by then, but I will be able to confirm this on Saturday when we go to MK.

Ebags and Parksleepfly are both on here and could save some of us a few bucks for our trips.
