150s or BUST!!
Why the headline? What does it mean?
Dadgummit, it means I've been carrying 100 pounds too much for too long!! I have four months to get the remaining 40 pounds off and by golly I intend to do it! I needed to start this trip report so that I stay accountable..I have a WISH journal going as well, but I need reinforcements! If you want to read about my thirty year struggle you can read it there...here I'll focus on the excitement leading up to the trip that was just cemented yesterday!
I know there is a club for resort changers...the ever shrinking dollar made me jump through hoops! After 8-9 resorts, 3-4 date changes, Southwest incredible deal, and Free Dining adjustments we are booked this September for 7 nights at Port Orleans Riverside!
We have been to Old Key West (pregnant), Animal Kingdom Lodge, Polynesian, and Contemporary. Each trip held some pretty interesting events so I have no doubt this trip will as well. Old Key West..could not decide the name of my third child...I was sitting in the middle of Main Street waiting for my family to exit the Emporium and I just prayed that God would give me the name for our third child....she had come rather quickly after our 2nd child (Irish Twins) and we just were not prepared for naming! At that exact moment that my prayer went up, a father SCREAMED a horrific scream with my daughter's name being the emphasis.
Sure, some of you may think how could I name a child after a father's harsh reprimand...who knows, maybe he was stopping her from getting run over by a snack cart? Maybe she was about to step in front of a parade? I never saw the face of the man who gave me our third child's name...but when he yelled "ELIZA!" at the exact second my prayer went up, I wasn't stopping to ask questions, I obeyed.
Not only has Disney given us a child's name, but it also gave us a big scare. We were booked for a long needed vacation to fly out on September 12, 2001. Needless to say the tragedies of the 11th stunned the world and put any vacation completely out of our mind. But, when they opened up flights again for travelers around the 20th, we felt a need to get on that plane and help show travelers that it was indeed safe to get back to living. Many of our family were against us taking 3 children so soon after the attacks...but we felt it was probably the safest time to fly! We were right, our kids were the only ones on the plane, plane was 1/3 full, but we made the most of it. Our children were too young to really understand what went on, but for my Grumpy (dh) and me...we had many worries.
When we arrived, we found that we were able to book AKL (I think it had just opened that year) for $119 a night!! We originally had booked an off site option that was clearly not non-smoking and our asthmatic children could not stand that..so after a long somewhat worrisome travel day we ended up at AKL. It was JUST what we needed!! The sights, smells, people took your mind off the events of the past two weeks.
Many Englanders were stranded because no international flights had opened up yet...they made the most of it and were so amazingly kind and go with the flow about their predicament. I'm sure Disney itself had so many adjustments to go through as I think they thought they may have been targeted at one point.
Our third day there, we received a book and a handwritten note on our door...the note was written by a mad person..honestly, kind of unabomber ramblings about the end of times. It was ONLY on our door! We called security and they immediately came and confiscated the book, what little we time we had to read it we could tell it definitely was a conspiracy theory book about the end times....full of hate/fear/threats....granted, in the climate of being a week or two after 9/11...Disney did not take it lightly, we had 3 security agents up there immediately asking us all kinds of questions...of which we had no answers, had seen no one, just heard a knock and found the letter and the book. We asked if any other reports of these findings had been found and they said, "No." But I find it hard that we were the only ones, even so, it gives you the Twilight Zone heebie jeebies.
We went on from there to have wonderful memories of getting a special upgrade to Tower at our stay at the Contemporary..seeing the castle each night was a perfect topper to having lost down to my lowest in 20 years (175 pounds)...BUT I ballooned back up to 265 in the next 5 years, having 2 mortgages for 31 months did me in. I am down 75 and need 25 to go below my lowest but I really am aiming for 150 something, if I get on that plane at 159.5...there will be enough energy in me to fly that plane with my arm swings of joy!!
So on the next couple of threads I will be introducing you all to our family, this likely is our last trip before we have 3 teens in college within the next 4 years!! I know it will fly by and trips like these will be harder to come by...
I will put some pictures of my heaviest and my final picture on this thread...can't wait!!
So, for all you Disers needing to lose some pounds before a special trip...join me in making the best decisions!! We can make great changes that will get us that much closer to GOAL!!!
