1500 or 2000 Loop for Tent Camping?

I'm not sure which loop to request for our trip. Any suggestions?
We are bringing our two sons 10 & 6, no pets. But don't have a problem with other peoples pets as long as they don't bite. LOL!

I have only stayed in the 1500 loop but it is the one that I love. It is one of the smallest loops in the entire campground. It is across the road from the pool, the arcade, the meadows tradsing post and right next to a bus stop. It is a short bus to either main bus stations. We love it.

Pets are a non issue as both the 1500 and 2000 loops are non pet loops.

It's more up to your choice of "lifestyle". Do you want to be close to the center of the action; the 1500 loop is directly across the street from the main pool and the meadows complex. The 2000 loop is a little more off the beaten path, but with that comes a little quieter area.

Requestes are just that, a request. They don't guarantee any specific loop, just a level of accomidation. With that said there are more sites in the 2000 loop than in the 1500 loop.

I've stayed in both Loops and I like them both for different reasons.

Pros of 1500:
As everyone says, Loop 1500 is close to the pool, the Meadows trading post the campfire program, Bike Barn, and is about equal distance from the Settlement Area with Trails End, Hoop De Doo, Marina and from the Outpost Area. It is also easy to get to either end of the campground from 1500 by way of sidewalks (if you have your bicycle). 1500 is a smaller loop with one comfort station, so any site is not too far from the comfort station.

Cons of 1500:
Small loop, so harder to get per request
Older loop, so sites are a bit smaller. Some sites may be a bit small for tent campers with lots of people and multiple tents.
The grill and/or a tree may be in an awkward spot for setting stuff up.

Pros of 2000:
This loop is newer, so the sites are a little better configured for tent camping.
Each site has an extra "square" of sand where the grill is located so it gets it out of the way of your gear.
The sand pads are larger than Loop 1500 so more room to set up in the exact configuration you desire.
It is isolated and very quiet.
No trees in inconvenient places (There are trees all around, but there are no trees "in" the sites like 1500)

Cons of 2000:
It is isolated.
It is a "long" convoluted way by sidewalks to get to the Settlement Area.
(There is a quick shortcut, but means going down a cast member only road)
It is a large loop with two comfort stations.
There is a possibility that you are a long distance from a comfort station.
It takes two buses to get to the campfire program (unless you walk).

Wow, a bunch to think about. Thank you everyone for your help. I'm going to talk this over w/ DH and see what he thinks. I have reserved a golf cart so that would probably help if we were in the 2000 loop. But, it would be nice to be close to everything, especially with two very active boys.

Love the 1500 loop. It is an awesome location.

There is a short-cut from the 2000 loop to the Meadow Trading Post and the campfire area. Cut through the woods (there may be a trail now) to the Group camping area right behind it and there is another bridge to take you to the 900 loop which comes out across from the TP.

I have stayed in 2000 and not 1500 but have driven through it. 1500 seemed more wide open (fewer trees) and the spots were closer together. 2000 is more shaded and quiet, spots are a little further apart, nice big pads for tents and parking cars, and there are two bathhouses in this loop.

Choice is yours. Unless you are going to run over to the TP or pool three or four times a day, I would recommend 2000.

I had forgotten about cutting through the group camping area. It is possible for walking and on your bicycle, but I use an ECV (electric scooter) to get around Ft. Wilderness and that area is NOT accessible. There is a big drop off from the bridge to the ground.

Also, you can't take your golf cart through there, but if you have a golf cart the main roads are fine.

I'm thinking maybe we don't need a golf cart with the 1500 loop being so close and the 2000 loop having a cut through. Maybe we'll get one the first day and then see if we need to keep it.

But please note, I have requested the 1500 loop everytime we've tent or pop-up camped and only been in 1500 ONCE! That said, the 2000 loop is fine, and we used the group camping area to quickly get to the Meadows Trading Post.

I like the 1500 loop since it's close to the Meadows trading post/pool area. If it has a negative it's close to the main road in the campgrounds and you'll get some traffic noise from the busses and camper's vehicles as they return to their sites at night. The noise isn't terrifficly loud but if your kids are lite sleepers see if you can get a site to the rear of the loop.

Well, now I've decided that both spots are great,depending on what you are looking for ie. quiet or in the middle of everything. Now I'm re-thinking the golf cart. Any opinons on this?

I recommend loop 2000 with a golf cart. And if you bring bikes, it's a fun ride--sidewalks all the way, and is a bit of a ride, but my boys were 8 and 4 when we stayed in 2000 and they loved riding their bikes to and from the settlement area with DH and I.

2000 just seems a bit more spread out. It has 2 comfort stations. There is a tether ball set up behind one of the comfort stations that my boys enjoyed. We had a lot of fun there.

My sons love tether ball. I don't think we'll bring their bikes though. We are driving from TX in our Ford Excursion, so we have lots of room. But after we pack a tent and the least amount of camping supplies we'll need, I don't think the bikes will fit. My DH was wanting to buy one of those bike holders that goes on the back of your vehicle. If I can find one of those reasonably priced then that would work.

If there is any way you can manage to bring your bikes, I don't think you'll regret it. That was my boys' favorite thing about FW -- getting to ride on their bikes everywhere. They even enjoyed that more than the golf cart.
