Hi everyone,
I've just been looking over my contract and have had a major panic:scared1:
I might be getting this wrong, but does the $1500 deposit that i have already paid get deducted from my final balance, or does that just get sent to me after the wedding? i'm confused:confused3 I really hope it does get deducted, as i really don't have many spare $$$

help me girls :grouphug:

Hi,
No the $1500 does not get deducted from the balance. It's there in case you decide to add anything else for your wedding at the last minute. After the wedding they mail it back. I guess its good if you need something at the last minute. Hope that helped!

Yes, they do not apply the $1500 towards your final bill. I know it sucks to put the extra money down, but at least you will get a nice check after the wedding.

The 1500 is basically your security deposit. If something happens at the reception (like an extra guest shows up or something) or you add something on or change something last minute after the final payment is made they deduct it from that instead of billing you later and having to deal with that. Also if you have a bill on consumption bar and go over they deduct it from that.

You will see the money refunded to you after the event. In our case, about 15-30 days afterward. I agree that this is something that Disney should tell you upfront. It was a definate shock to me.

WAAAIIIITTTTT!!! I am soooo confused. In January I am signing my contract. Does that mean I have to pay $1,500 ONLY or $1,500 plus the mininum (which is $15,000 for saturday night)???

When you sign your contract you will put down $1,500.00 for the deposit, then a few weeks before the wedding the balance (15K minimum) is due. After the wedding if you didn't go over you get your $1,500.00 back.

I didn't realise this and didn't budget for it either. My DF is not going to be happy when I tell him we need even more money now :confused3

We didnt know that either till about a week before we signed our contract!

The way we looked at it was that we are flying over from the UK so no unexpected guests and anything like that so I'm hoping to get all ours back

Is this the same for an escape wedding?

No, I think it is only $500 (or something around there) for escapes... and I 'think' it goes towards your balance but I am not an escape so I am not entirely sure.

Wow, I had no clue the $1500 was not deducted from your balance, but rather held as a "security deposit". Now I'll need to budget for that too . Thank goodness for this board....

If your tight on your budget then ask your planner if the deposit can be applied it to the balance. We didn't realise until our final bill arrived. We only had a bill on consumption bar for the CH the main bar was open bar so that could be why my planner was more lenient.
It wasn't an issue with my WP so if you need it applied then just ask.

Its $750 for an Escape Wedding in 2008??? When did that rate go up? :confused3

Yes, the price changed when the 2008 packages came out. The $750 is applied to your balance.

Same here!:scared1: Wow...Gotta rework the budget now....just a tad anyway. It is nice to know that there will be a cushion.:upsidedow

Our planner just told us to make our final check out to the amount minus the deposit when we asked for the total...but we were paying for two invisible guests and an open bar for the whole day...so the numbers wouldn’t have changed in the end
