Good evening everyone.

Kathy I hope your arm is feeling better this weekend.

Coaster Addict Nice job on your trapeze. I know that I would never try that.

I just got back from seeing Mary Poppins on Broadway. It is like the movie in many ways and different at other times. There were some new songs and new scenes. We enjoyeed it. We also ate at Junior's in Times Square. I had a salad so that I would have room for cheesecake which Junior's is famous for(see QVC). We had strawberry but I liked the chocolate mousse that I had in June better. I didn't have a whole piece, my husband and I shared the piece.

Hope everyone is havign a great weekend.

Good morning fellow losers.

Yesterday, I went for a slow 1.5 mile walk with my mother and sister. The arm felt okay as it was bound to my body by my shirt. The weather could have been warmer but for a change it was not parcipitating.

I plan to try and go back to work on Tuesday. I also start PT that day. The surgeon knows my plan and said to let my body determine how long I work. She thinks it will only be a couple of hours at first. I still have to find a ride to work, and since I can't drive once I get there I am stuck until I can get a ride home.

Have a great losing day.

Good Morning, Ladies!

Wow, Lots going on with all of you!

I think I'm going to write down what I'm doing wrong, for all of you to see, then pick one thing to do right this week. Last week, I tried to stop eating after 8 pm, and did pretty well with that. I'm keeping that habit this week, and I'm going to add another one. Please bear with me. This may be long, but I need to "confess".

I am:

Heading to the pantry first whenever I want a snack, rather than the fridge with healthier options

Eating when I'm not really hungry, just stressed

Not working out regularly

Not coming to the DIS regularly for support and reporting

Not getting on the scale

Not feeling very motivated

Not working with a daily plan, just taking the day as it comes

Wow, that's a lot to choose from. I think what's hurting me most is the regular workouts. This week I am going to try to work out three days. And, I'm getting on the TM even if I don't have time to do a whole hour. I have a bad habit of thinking if it's not an hour, why bother, and I need to get over that.

Kathy -- I am so proud of you for continuing to do whatever you can during this difficult time! :grouphug: I'm so glad your surgery went well, and you are ready for work, even if the transportation issue isn't exactly worked out. You really are an inspiration!

Donna -- I am so jealous that you went to Broadway to see a show! I've only seen one there, and it was clearly the theatrical highlight of my life. Hoping to make it back there someday...Your weekend is going great. Hum some of those songs as you work on your goals! :sunny:

CoasterAddict -- You are so brave! That looks like a terrific reward. I hope it was everything you thought it would be! :Pinkbounc

Melissa -- I am already planning Thanksgiving dinner, so I know what you mean about an eating plan. It's so easy to come home and not stop eating until I go to sleep...but I have been working on that. You should allow yourself some goodies, or you will end up really unhappy. I'm working on retraining myself to think fruit is a treat... :confused3

Wendy -- The Bowflex sounds awesome! I bet you are going to see great results. That reminds me of another item in my basement, the exercise bike that I had to have which just sits there. I'm going to write an exercise plan for this week, with approx. times, dates, and workouts, so I can check off each day as I do it. Thanks for giving me that idea! :cheer2:

Tara -- How are your walks coming? I have a question for you -- Do you write down what you intend to eat at the beginning of the day, or do you keep track as you go along? I know you have had some awesome weight loss, and I wondered how you kind of kickstarted things along... :cool1:

O.k., everyone, let's look forward to a fantastic week! Any great strategies for Halloween anyone wants to share? DS will have candy starting Saturday night at a party, so it's going to get a "foothold" in my house early... :rotfl:

Maria

TRAPEZE LADY!!! HOW COOL IS THAT??? Thanks so much for posting the picture! I think that is wonderful! :) I just have the biggest smile on my face seeing that silly joy filled look on your face!!! :) You really look like a 7 year old up there! :) I could see that photo being emailed to thousands with the caption "Just Do It!" :)

Dona! We saw Mary Poppins in London, we thought it was really cool how they added scenes from the book and had the new songs, we were just thinking last night of the song MP sings a lot...we sang it for days afterward and now we can't remember it...do you remember the one she sang that had 3-4 words in the chorus of it...it was quite catchy! We loved the part at the end...won't give it away, but it was really magical for my girls and my son loved it too.

Kathy, does the cold make the soreness worse or better? I had a shoulder injury and just sitting was painful..I'm sooo amazed at how you're plugging through it and making it work for you! What a great time to walk with 3 generations! :)

I'm hoping I lost a pound this week....too much snacking for scrapbooking nights with the church ladies, last football games, but thankfully it's the last of football practices so we won't be eating after 7 anymore..I do much better having dinner at 5:30...off to do my push ups and situps, can't do them all in one sitting, have to do 20 push ups, then wait a few hours and push out the last 30...situps are split 40 and 40....I've been soo sore from them so hopefully the scale won't be inflamed with all this soreness...but it's getting better!

Maria! I can't write things down, too much time needed, but I do better when I have a weight/measurement chart I write in weekly...I have it taken out till my goal point (40 weeks right now) and just seeing that number 150 makes it easier to stick to my goal...and when the scale hits it or goes beyond my goal I feel great! I just can't do ATkins or tricks to jump start it like I used to, so I'm setting more realistic goals of 5-7 pounds a month and giving myself 40 weeks to lose it instead of 20! :) I try to avoid sugars and potatoes and make my breads be whole grain..and mentally stick to a 1200 calories a day...if I walk the 4 miles I'll up it to 1500...but just sticking to no potatoes and no sugar will do the calorie trick..because those are the things that push me over! :) It's just a daily reminder of needing to do it! :)

Off to have my cheerios and skim milk (multigrain cheerios!) ...

Tara

Hiya! Hope everyone had a great weekend. The weather here is SC was perfect this weekend so I took the opportunity to walk for my workout...I'm sure the TM will get over it! :) I lost 2 more pound! I am now 25 lbs. from 150!! :woohoo: We are having a long girl's weekend in Charleston next weekend and I have to go buy a couple of outfits cause I have nothing to wear...well, nothing that fits. LOL! What a problem to have!

Can I just say that I love Coaster's picture!! Wow! That really looks like fun! My hats off to you!! Just do it is exactly right what an inspiration!

Dona, sounds like a fun trip! I have always wanted to see something, anything on Broadway.

Maria, kudos for your honesty. "Absolution" comes in acknowledging a problem and going after it! Good luck this week working on your goals. We are all behind you 100%! And I agree the regular workouts are tough I find myself trying to talk me out of my workout every day. It is hard but sooooo satisfying when completed. You can do it!! :Pinkbounc

Tara, wouldn't droping weight be easy if we could live in a bubble with no life interuptions! But it would be boring too so back to the game plan!!

Kathy, hope your arm is healing quickly. Being dependent on someone else for even the simple things is the hardest part of recovery. It's awesome that you are still exercising right now. :thumbsup2

Wendy, how cool is it that you have so much support at home! It's great that the family is involved in getting fit! :grouphug:

It's another week let's get going! Do something good for yourself this week!

Well, I lost 2lbs at WW this week taking me out of the 170's and into the 160's!!! I am now at 169.2!!! WOOOHOOO :thumbsup2

Onward & Downward everyone!!!!

Hello everyone! So sorry I have been offl line for a bit! Been busy, and working on getting in shape for the holidays.

Yeah Coaster Addict! Wonderful. My son thinks it is so cool! :thumbsup2

All is going. DS and DD are 'fiddling' with bowflex. Hoping they get more serious with it all. I am so very lucky to have a supportive family. I never would have gotten as far as I have without them. Can't wait for the affects to show. I am guessing it will be about spring. Just in time to wear shorts again!

Had the tea party! Had a blast! If I can figure out how to download pictures, will send one. Any help on this would be wonderful! It was absolutely amazing to wear new clothes, and have them be a size I wore before the last child! I was so happy! I felt I looked good, and enjoyed all the positive comments. Had some yummy foods that DH made healthy for us! I did indulge in a few tastes of the deserts. I will certainly do something like this again!

Sounds like some wonderful successes this last week. Kathy, hope PT goes well. I had carpal tunnel surgery, and I think what got to me was the sling thing.

Halloween isn't usually too wild at our home. I freeze the candy that you can, and somehow the other stuff disappears in a few days to work, where the teenagers devour it. When it's in the freezer, I think they forget about it and sometimes at Christmas, it will still be there, and off to the work Christmas party it goes. My DD is the candy fiend, if you let her be. We do have to monitor her when there are sweets around. Probably why we have pretty much stopped having them in the house. I think I will have her read your Absolution list Maria. It may get her thinking a little bit more.

Tara, if life didn't interrupt, I would be the mirror image of Rachel Welch! :rotfl: Now that is a thought! I would mention someone younger, but since I'm not, we won't!

Melissa, for Thanksgiving we are just doing a movie and sandwiches. Eliminates left overs and since there is just us and my mom-in-law, it is just easier. And, GREAT weight loss! Certainly helps and inspires the rest of us! I lost another pound, and even tho it was only one, it is one that is GONE!

Well, have to go and catch up on some more stuff! Like find out what I am working and where I am working next week. Have things to do!

Great losses and best wishes to all!

Wendy

Happy Thursday!

Here's an update on my progress this week:

I have been eating carrots, apples and grapes for snacks

I've worked out twice this week, one 5 mi and one 3, and I'm going to do 2 tonight

This is my second visit to the 150s club this week, I'll work on getting here more!

I have not gotten on the scale yet, but plan to early next week

I feel very motivated! I want to do the things I need to in order to lose weight

I have a daily plan! I am writing down what I eat each day, and I have scheduled exercise. I only made it to 3 miles yesterday, so I'm doing 2 today.

Kathy -- How was the PT session? Are you back at work now? How long are you able to stay?

Wendy -- Your Thanksgiving sounds lovely. So low-key, who wouldn't enjoy that? :goodvibes

Disneyfanz04 -- Congratulations! You are on your way, and we are proud of you! :Pinkbounc

Melissa -- You are making fantastic progress! Thanks for the encouragement. :cheer2:

Tara -- I love the chart idea. I keep flipping back in my book to see what a weighed a week ago, the chart would just lay it out. O.k., now I have another project! :thumbsup2

CoasterAddict -- How often will you take trapeze lessons? I think you are so brave! :woohoo:

I bought all the Halloween candy, but I have not opened any bags yet. I'm planning on making my treat bags on Sunday. I'd rather not have it open at all Friday and Saturday. I have to go to a Halloween Party for ds Saturday afternoon, and that will be stressful enough. I plan on having a snack before I go, and a plan for dinner when we get home. The party's from 4-8, but it's a school party, so we probably will go from 4:30 to 6 or so. No need to be there for 4 hours, trust me!

Let's keep those losses coming!
Maria

Happy dancing!! I decided to lose 45 lbs. for my 45th b-day....yesterday was the day and I lost 46!!! I have tried to lose weight so many times in the past and this time it looks like I am for real!!! I haven't seen DH since mid-Sept. and he has no idea, boy, do I have a big surprise for him Thanksgiving!

Sorry, I had to brag, I am walking on air...now back to losing the other 24 lbs.! Hope you each have a brag for the week! :cool1:

I'm off to Charleston to see some ghosts everybody have a great weekend and don't forget to do something good for yourself EVERY DAY! :grouphug:

Wonderful Melissa! And Happy Birthday! :bday:

Brag all you want, it is an amazing job, and you deserve to brag! Your hubby will be very proud of you!

DisneyFan--great job! Here is some more mojo to keep you on track! :cool1:

Well gang, not much new here. I do love the list Maria. DD took your last list to heart, and with her dad today they did some structured exercising! I am so happy. She said she felt good about it, so I am hoping she keeps it up. She is about 30 pounds over weight, but she is only 10 and I hope will grow taller without gaining weight.

Well gang, have to motivate the family for showers and such. Will catch up more tomorrow with my free morning before going to Detroit with DS.

Great losses to all!

Wendy

Tiggerkeeper...you're on the same path I am (age and everything) but you're several pounds ahead of me, so thanks for being a good example.

Good morning fellow losers.

The shoulder is healing, not as fast as I would like, but it's getting there. I am still dependent on others to get around which is driving me crazy. I promised my daughter I would rehab the shoulder properly this time and that includes not driving for six weeks. I may only make if 5 weeks but even that seems like an eternity.

I went out and walked 2 miles Sat. The PT said I could also try the stationary bike. I may do that this week. I have PT 3 times per week for passive range of motion only. It is hard at times not to try and help but I keep reminding myself I can't.

Everyone is doing great. Keep up the exercise and healthy eating.

Let's get this thread moving again. Everyone who is MIA please check in and tell us how you are doing.

Good morning. Sorry I haven't been around too much in the last week. I have had my mind on getting ready for popcorn take in yesterday and that hass been the only thing on my mind. I have three people who for the past three years have messed up their orders. They each take popcorn and then intermix it and never keep accurate records They are the ones who are always make us a couple of boxes short and theydon't understand why. Last year it was a couple of cases. They did mess up again this year (am I surprised NO) but I made them sweat when the numbers did not come out in their favor. I still have more work to do but my good friend is going to help me tonight and with her help, our sons and my husband we should be able to finish this work.

I woke up yesterday with a new attitude than the last two weeks and I worked out yesterday and today.

I have to go and teach my classes and finish up some letters of recommendation for my students.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Lost another .8 this week at weigh-in...not as much as I hoped, but it is a loss and I'll take it!!! That puts me at 168.4....just 8.6 away from being in the 150's!!! OMG I can't weight...I haven't seen that number in like 8 years!!!!!

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK EVERYONE!!!!

Hello!

Glad to hear the losses are still coming! I am happy to say I met my distance goal last week of 20 miles, and I'm working on 22 for this week. I did 5.5 yesterday, so I'm 25% done! I've been on the TM six days in a row, so I think I have to take today off. My knees are holding a protest.

I'm wearing a new size 14 skirt I bought, so my waist is still good. I'm not quite comfy in pants yet, my thighs are the bane of my existence! They are the last place I show any progress.

I had a cheese omelet w/salsa for breakfast, and I'm having minestrone, 100 cal goldfish (the flavor-blasted ones rock!), carrots, and 100 cal pudding for lunch. I have grapes and an apple for later. Tonight's dinner is leftover spaghetti.

I made all my treat bags last night, and didn't have a single piece of candy. I'm grateful for that. :goodvibes

Disneyfanz04 -- You are doing fabulous! Every loss is awesome! :Pinkbounc

Dona -- You just reminded me we have to fill out ds's pie order for his Thanksgiving school fundraiser. Luckily for us it's pretty low-stress. We did Girl Scout cookies for years (when I was the girl and my mom was in charge for all the troops in the neighborhood), so I understand your pain. It is always the same people, isn't it? :confused3

Kathy -- I know you are impatient, but you are doing the right thing in taking it slow! We are proud of you for persevering amidst all the adversity! :grouphug:

Coasteraddict -- How often do you take the trapeze lessons? Is it something you want to do ongoing, or something you wanted to try once? :sunny:

Wendy -- it must be so hard to have a dd facing a weight issue. What a delicate balance you must have. She is very lucky to have a caring mom who wants her whole family to be healthy! :woohoo:

Melissa -- Congratulations on your weight loss! What a great example you are! :cool1:

Tara -- How are the push-ups and sit-ups coming? I admire your dedication! :thumbsup2

A thought for Halloween -- you are a grown-up, and you can eat candy any day of the year -- you can buy what you want, when you really want it. You don't have to eat the "not my favorites, but here it is" that might show up at your door! This thought is for me, but I thought it might be useful to someone else as well!

Happy Halloween! :yoda: :chewy: :darth:
Maria

Hey 150 girls! We are all girls aren't we? I am back from Charleston and we had a fabulous time...even had some spooky moments in a graveyard! Gotta love Halloween! And we ate seafood till I thought we would pop! BUT since we did walking tours and other sightseeing, drum roll please....I only gained a pound! Charleston is such a beautiful place.

Marie, boy you said a mouthful about the candy! Stop and ask yourself how bad you really want that stuff! You had a great week last week! Here's a pat on the back!! :cheer2: And you have gotten this week started strong!! :cheer2: That 14 is gonna melt into a 12 in no time. Keep up the good work! :woohoo:

DisneyFanz, I feel your enthusiasm!! Keep plugging along! 160's :Pinkbounc

donac, you keep that new attitude all the way to skinny!! :yay:

Coaster, I am wanting your "dare to do" attitude!! :cool1:

Wendy, how was the trip to Detroit? Your DD is starting down a great path exercising at her age. I wish I had done more that early.

Kathy, I really admire your get up and go it would be so easy to "take it easy" while recovering. I salute you!! :thumbsup2

Hey Tara....where are you????? :goodvibes

Well, I am going to the treadmill while I still feel inspired! I hope all of you have a great week and avoid the Halloween munchies!!

Just a quick check-in to say "Hello". Halloween went well. The only candy ds brought home I had to have was a Ghirardelli milk chocolate square with crushed almonds. I don't know which house that came from, or I would have sent him back! :cool1:

Not feeling much like exercise this week. It's a combination of probably doing too much last week, and ds having this huge project due Friday. By the time we get home, I pretty much have to help him so he can have dinner and go to bed at a decent hour. I could shoot the teacher for giving them this assignment on such a short week, but what can you do? I guess she didn't realize 8 yr.olds would be trick or treating on Halloween? :confused3

Next week I'm headed to Nashville for a conference, so it's a short workout week. I did get a later flight on Wednesday, so I can workout before I go. :Pinkbounc

Let's think good thoughts and start this month on a losing note!
Maria

I can see 8 yr olds trick or treating but I went into my HOnors Calc class this morning and 5 kids told me that they couldn't do their homework last night because of Halloween. GIVE ME A BREAK

Hope everyone else is having a good week.

Now off to finish my boy scout popcorn order.

Hello all!

Thought I would catch up while the others were waiting for dancing with the stars results to come on tv. It's got to be better tv than the kerry issue!

DS is working with a few friends to do the annual showcase for young talent. They are 2 guitars, 1 bass, 1 drums, and my son the piano. Anxious to see what type of music they decide on.

Kathy--I agree about the driving issue. Whenever they say not to drive, it seems that you just go mad over it. Great job on the continuing excercising! I would think that the stationary bike would be great, and something you wouldn't have to worry about. Good luck!

Dona--Organized fundraisers scare me! I could never do the coordinating part. I would also be just fustrated with those who do not stay organized so that is works smoothly. I am terrible. I stay away from the PTA parents. They scare me too! I donate, send money, and encourage my kids, but PLEASE donot ask me to make sure something is done or organize it. My extreme impatience for most things really shows during those times.

DisneyFan--Yeah! You should be in the 150's before Thanksgiving. Very exciting! I am on the quest to lose 12 by the New Year.

Maria--I am glad my DD is working on having a healthy life style. Some days we go backwards, but we always talk about how important it is to make the decision to be healthy. She is doing BowFlex tonight with Dad! She is just 10, and we are hoping to set a good example. She mentions about how great it is with my weight loss. I really enjoy being a good example for her! I also would like to agree about the thighs being the last to lose!

Melissa--I have always wanted to visit Charleston. Savanah is high on my list. It must be beautiful year round there. Detroit was fun. It was such a short trip, that I almost feel as if I didn't even go! Well, other than the 2 new t-shirts the DS has as proof of us going! It was the night the Tigers lost the World Series. We watched the last bit. Oh--while we were purchasing my DS's t-shirts, the service girl's boss came up to her and asked her is she wanted to work at Comerica Park the next day if the Tigers won. My friend and I of course said if she didn't, we would! Unfortunetly, they didn't need us! It would have been fun! No matter who won!

A great big hello to Coaster addict and Tara!

Best to all, and great losses!

Wendy

Hey where is everybody? Keep posting we need encouragement and inspiration!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :woohoo:

I maintained this past week so I am looking for a good drop this week! I have ordered some weight training DVD's to get these loosey goosey muscles to firm up.
