[FONT]Hi all- I am very new to the boards and really have been struggling with how to subscribe to certain boards and finding where to go to read them. I didn't think I was computer illiterate but perhaps I am!

I am VERY interested in joining the 150s club which I haven't seen in many years. I am committed to seeing it this summer. I have the exercise thing under control as I run several times a week. My biggest issue is the WATER. I just don't make the effort to drink it.

Also, does anyone have a really good web site or software suggestion for tracking food? For me, it's all about weighing and measuring. If I don't weigh and measure and write it down, it doesn't work. I hope to be able to support you all in your individual quests!

Kris from sunny (finally) MA

Welcome Kris!!! There's a really cool challenge on the main WISH board called New Year New You OPERATION HYDRATION II. It's all about drinking water.

As for the website, try Sparkpeople.com or Fitday.com!

We are very glad to have you here! especially me, who is coming back and who is really sticking to it!! :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

I WI this morning....and much to my surprised Ive GAINED weight. I DONT DONT DONT know what is going on, Im eating better, Im walking each night so why am I GAINING!?

Anyone have a clue as to what I should do??????

Welcome wdwrunner! I put you on our summer challenge if you want to record your losses here...all you have to do is tell me weekly what you're at and I"ll post them....I recommend both the ones Jen said, Fitday is very popular. Way to go on the running!!! That will really help keep your losses consistent with just a few tweaks to your eating!

Jen....sweetie, I'm right there with you!!! We had done GREAT and lost to the 170's and look at us after a looooong winter! But WE CAN DO THIS!!! Okay, why don't you try to cut out one thing this week....yesterday you had buns and pizza dough...if you had cut out bread for yesterday it would have cut your calories in half! :) Have a hot dog without the bun and bring some snacks that are good for you...nuts/carrot sticks/fruits....I have banned french fries...not only will I not eat fries but it makes me want the salad...cause I just can't eat chicken nuggets without fries! :) WE CAN DO THIS!!!

TOM started for me today..I was craving loads yesterday but kept it minimal...today is an attack on carbs....using my carbs for breakfast only then sticking to veggies for the rest and some protein tuna thrown in there...

Tracy...meant to add that I'll send you some batteries!!! That same thing has happened to me and you just have to laugh! Hope you got some!!!

Kathy! WAY TO GO ON the 45 minutes walking!!! THat is AWESOME!!! I know you'll probably feel a bit tired but keep it up and you'll have that energy back!!!

Let's rock team!
Tara

Good Morning, Ladies!

It's great to catch up and read how everyone is excited about setting goals this summer. I want to lose 16 pounds. It's not ambitious, because every time I am ambitious, I aim too high and give up. This is doable! My actual starting number for Monday was 177 - so I'm hoping to get to 161. I wouldn't be upset if I actually got to the 150s! ;)

The lower carb eating is really helping. I've lost 6 lbs. since I started May 13th (today's scale reading was 175.5 -- I had treats and didn't workout Sunday, so my body showed it Monday). I also crave sweets much less, so I'm very happy about that.

Last night I really did not want to get on the TM, but with dh putting on his workout clothes to go for a run outside and ds headed off to gymnastics, I couldn't justify laying down on the couch. I did 5.5 miles, so I'm very pleased. That's a new distance for me, going at a higher speed.

Today's eating plan:

B: scrambled eggs w/cheese
S: low carb yogurt
L: lettuce wraps, sugar-free jello
S: SB cereal bar
D: broiled shrimp scampi w/green veggie
S: blueberries w/light cool whip

I have a date with Jon Bon Jovi when I get home (code for it's another TM time for me!). :lovestruc

Tara -- Be strong with the carbs. Let yourself have what you need, and you'll be o.k. :thumbsup2

eandjcusimano -- Sometimes our bodies are confused when we start to work out, and hold onto whatever they can. Thus, you may be doing everything right and still see a gain. Give it a few days, and then see how you're doing. :goodvibes

Jen -- Now that school is finished, you can focus more on you! You know where you are, you know where you want to be, and you have the tools to get there! :moped:

Kris -- Don't get too used to the sunshine :sunny: Apparently, we are having monsoon season instead of summer this year :confused3

Kathy -- I'm up to 21 miles this week. I've been adding 2 each week - but somehow went to 3 last week. I seem to finally be getting faster, so hopefully I'll be in much better shape come the end of summer. :wave2:

Dona -- A solid 10 lb. loss over the summer would be awesome. Like you, my body has a mind of it's own!

Michelle -- I admire your drive! You have a big goal, and a fantastic attitude! :woohoo:

Linda -- Now that you can focus more on you, the weight is going to melt away. You have had so much going on in your life, and now it's "Me Time"! :cloud9:

Debra -- Ride Space Mountain for me, Please! princess:

Tracy -- TOM makes us nuts. Just do what you can, and know next week will be better! :grouphug:

Wendy -- I love Broadway musicals! I love to see them, too, but that doesn't happen nearly as often as I would like. The last one I saw was Spamalot in April. Best show I've seen in a very long time. :dance3:

There is so much positive power in this thread, the losses are going to come our way!

Maria

Thanks..I will continue to walk, drink my water and eat correctly. I may have to go back to Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet again.....

Thank you for the warm welcome! I totally appreciate it and hope I can be helpful. I am up for the challenge of trying to drop 15 pounds this summer. I am at 164 and haven't seen 149 since I think I was 14. LOL I am focused for the moment.

Thank you...I hadn't heard of either one of those web sites. Journalling is what really has worked for me in the past.

If anyone has any running questions, I would be happy to share some views from the BOP. I may be slow, but I feel I can run forever some days.

Regarding gaining weight and not understanding why.... that is THE MOST FRUSTRATING thing to happen. Any extra intake of salt that might be causing a water bloat? or hidden calories someplace? Or not eating enough with all the walking?

Thanks again... I hope to be as supportive as you have been. :cheer2:

Kris

Today's been pretty good. I mean-
B: two slices PB toast, 1.5 cups Honey Nut Cheerios, and strawberries
L: 1 mug tomato soup, and a hot dog

I've also been walking a lot today! I walked to and from the library, stopped home, dropped off my books, grabbed my band pants and took those up to the school!

Tomorrow I don't have to work at all and I plan to have a nice breakfast, library time (summer reading! yeah! no :happytv: during my summer! yet.), lunch at the local sit down place, and then the matinee of CARS at one!

Speaking of dining out, what do you all get to eat at your local non chain restaurants. I usually get a turkey club sandwich and fries, but am looking for something more healthful and still tasty :)

Thanks for the encouragement, Maria. The low carb life looks good to me, but A) the Nutrition and Wellness teacher at school says that diet is not good for teenagers, and B) I love my carbs! You seem to be doing fabulously!

I'm off to get ready to get ready to go to work. It fuels my Disney fund, so it has its perks, I guess.

Gonna drink more water!! 66 ounces or some such and I usually get 2 or more 16.9 ounce bottles in at work. Yesterday I got 66 ounces, plus 4 of the work bottles! I was good to go (getting my hydrated self to the potty!) lol.

Alrighty then! Have an excellent day, everyone!!

Losing weight and keeping faith,
Jen :cheer2:

Ok ladies I went to super walmart today and got batteries for the darn scale, so first thing in the am, I'll get on it. I have done pretty good with eating, and tonight I'll be walking/running on the TM at the gym.

I stopped in one of the local travel agency's today to see about getting a job while I'm finishing up my travel agent course. I meet with the owner on Monday, so I'm hoping things work out.

Anyway, just a quick check in. I'll post again later when Mickaellya is not NEEDING her mother, which should be when I'm at the gym

Jen! Great job on not overeating....now I'm going to be the mom here and ask "where are your veggies dearie?" You'll feel much more energetic and able to avoid cravings if you have some fresh fruits or veggies thrown in there...I promise to stop preaching because I really need to be saying that to ME! :)

Eandj....give us a rundown of what you're eating...sometimes posting it helps us see how it might be having you hold water....too much caffeine? too much sodium? not enough water and fresh foods? TOM coming? Let's get that scale moving for you!!!

Tracy....batteries will be the good bearer of news I just know it! :)

Off to sleep...walking in the morning...whew! I wish I could do a 5.5 miler like Maria!! WAY TO GO!!! So glad low carbing has worked out for you!!! I knew it would jump start that scale for you! :)

Tomorrow, let's make it fresh and good food! :)

Tara What are you doing up so late. You should have been in bed.

Good morning It is raining here in Jersey and it is a perfect last full day of school for me.

I spent last night with a person who is very negative and it got me in a lousy mood when I got home last night. I did eat but it was a 100 calorie South Beach Bar (mixed berry, very good) but that was all then I read and went to bed. When I woke up this morning I was still in a rotten mood and didn't start working out right away. I did pick up my knitting and do a couple of rows and this help enough so that I got a yoga tape and put it in and did 25 minutes of yoga. My thoughts have gotten better and better since I did this. I even had a revalation on my way to school about this person and it really made me feel better. (He is the type to put everyone down and it got to me last night. Then on my way to school this morning I came to the conclusion that this person is the real jerk because good people don't put other people down as much as he does.) Thank you yoga.

Eating has been pretty good and I have been working out every day since May 15th so I am hoping for some good numbers on the scale. Even if they are not good I am still taking care of myself and that is the important thing.

Hope everyone has a great losing day.

1 Week 1 Day until SUMMER VACATION
Can you tell I am excited

Hello everyone!

Been busy here in West Michigan, but since having this thread as a support group, thought I would add in my support for everyone.

eandj--good luck with starting South Beach again. I do follow a modified one, since I am unable to eat certain foods, as per doctor. There are some great receipes in there books.

Jen--I just love reading your posts! Yeah!

Kris--I too have problems drinking water. My DH buys Nestle's flavored water in orange so that I will drink more. I am such a stick about it!

Kathy--I am working towards 45 minutes of walking. After I had a mild stroke 2 years ago, I was there. I fell way behind with having hip pain issues. I am up to 35 and want to be at 60 by September!

Tara--I too cut out all breads, since my doctor has told me I am glueten intolerant. So, that eliminates LOTS of calories, and I am losing the weight much better now.

Tracey--batteries, they are worth their weight in gold in our house with walkmans, wireless PS2 remotes, and the list goes on. Maybe hiding a few would be good! :)

Maria--oh that does sound good. I will have to check into it. My DD has me listening to 'High School Musical' this week, from the disney channel. The music is very good, and from what my DH has said, it is the number CD at the moment.

Best of a great week for all! Great losses all around!

Wendy...."He's there, the Phantom of the OPERAAAAAAAAAA...
.AHHHHAHAAHAHAHAHHHHHH!!!" Oh man, my girls love to try and hit that high note and in an enclosed space like a minivan it can be torture! :) But it's cute that they love the music...so I try to tell them how much they're improving as my ears are begging for mercy! :) Keep up the great start!!! You'll have progress throughout the summer with that attitude! :)

Tara

Oh yeah! I can count of all my digits and all my friends digits on how often I have heard the same. I have a Ford Tarus, and it seems very compact during those high notes!

Thanks for the support!

Wendy

Just found this; would love to be a part of it! I am currently 240lbs and NOT at all happy with it. THanks for the future motivation & encouragement. My sister has also gained weight from being at college (not as much as me, lucky!) and we are planning to lose so much this summer! w.i.s.h us luck :]

Yesterday I ate okay. For breakfast I had 3 egg whites, 1 piece of turkey breast, 1 whole wheat english muffin. Then I walked to go pick up my sister from school (about 30 minutes) and played outside with her. For lunch I had a half sandwhich with turkey and tomatoes and a side of baby carrots. Later I had a sourdough grilled chicken sandwich from Jack in the box with sugarless ice tea and SOME fries. overall a good day! Thanks for this!

I actually got some veggies in today. They really DO make a difference to me! Now to find more I like and more variety...

B: 1/2 stack pancakes, 1/4 slice of ham (late late late breakfast)
L: HUGE chef salad, I'm not even joking, I couldn't even finish it. (tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, onion, ham, turkey, cheese)
S: tortilla chips and salsa. "Zanahoritas" (baby carrots in spanish!)
D: I'm thinking either whatever we're having, plus carrots and cucumbers or salad.

Welcome fancythemouse! Glad to have you here!!

Hola! I think I did really well at dinner today. It was KFC!

D: 2 chicken strips, some mashed potatoes (a fist size), gravy, an indiv. container of the mac n cheese, two biscuits, 10-12 baby carrots, and an apple.

Cristabel-you are very welcome!

I also got some tennis balls today, now that I think of it! I will make use of thme tomorrow :)

Hi all,

So the lack of batteries was not the problem with the scale. I went out got batteries, went home, bought wrong batteries :rotfl2: so got new batteries, the right ones this time. I put them in, stepped on the scale and NOTHING!!! so I threw that scale AWAY. I have to work at the gym this am, so I jumped on the scale when I first got here, and I'm at 190.4. So, while I'm going to stick to my orginal goal, I would really LOVE to see 40 pounds come off so that at least I'm in the 150's.

Welcome Fancy! I'm a gal who comes and goes but needs to be here more, so with the summer challange I am challangeing myself to get here more as well.

I will be going out to see Elaine, a newbie here, the middle of this month, so hopefully we can get a walk or two in while I'm there. We are only going for 3 days, so if we can do 2 walks, I'll call that a success.

If anyone of you are going to the Dismeet in Allentown, I'm sure you already know, that they are doing a Chinese auction to benefit Starlight, Starbright, anyway, Tickets I thought were surprisingly cheap, 45 tickets for $10.00 I believe. I wish they would post what they are going to have, so I could get tickets for some of my friends who are unable to go.

Anyway, I know that was off topic but ya know I tend to go there sometimes.

I'm going to check out Kumon today. My daughter Taylor just didn't "get" the connection between multiplying and divideing like she should have this year, so I need to get her up to speed before I start the homeschooling. I spoke with a tutor that my other DD Ellissa's enrichment teacher had recommend, but she told me, she doesn't do anything creative to get the kids to learn. Well Taylor is a visual learner and she needs something more than math facts handed to her constantly. So If anyone has suggestions as to websites that might help me, I'm open to any and all.

Well, I gotta run, home for a few minutes and make sure my kiddo's get on the bus and than bring the other 3 with me to the gym. They like coming here, I just hope that not too many ladies show up. It's very difficult to keep these guys from playing with the balls and bands when they find that they are so much fun to play with. I wish I could really believe they are really fun to play with.

see ya later and happy losing
