150 at BCV or 100 BCV AND 100 SSR?

Tell me what you would do please

  • Do the 150 BCV add on and forget about SSR

  • Add on 100 at each so everyone's happy

What would you do?

We recently received the paperwork for a 150 pt BCV add on.

Today, I had an idea to only do 100 at BCV and add on 100 at SSR.

Would you keep the 150 at BCV or do 100 at BCV AND 100 at SSR?

I don't think I will be able to convince DH to do the 150 at BCV and then add on more at SSR but he is all for the arrangement mentioned above.

If we did 100 at each we could have a nice mix of resorts. One would have the longer contract. We can definately bank and/or borrow to get the length of stay we want in different years.

Thanks for your opinions!!!!!!!

As long as you can afford the 200 vs 150 and mtce. costs then go with the 200......+ you get the 2054 date

thanks

If those are the options, I voted BCV. I would want SSR for the grand villas, and even with banking and borrowing I am not sure 100 points would be enough.

Good luck!

Thanks for the votes.

Maistre Gracey,

What if we would probably never need a Grand Villa? Would that change your vote?

I voted for 150 BCV. We have 2 contracts at different resorts and sometimes are limited by it.

As I type, however, I think I'm changing my mind. If you can afford 200 points, then go for it!

Probably. If you banked and borrowed, you could get a 1 or 2 bedroom every third year during many of the seasons. That seems like a pretty good use of the 100 points. Plus, you'll have the other 100 at BCV!

If I change the 150 at BCV to 100 BCV and 100 SSR does that have any ill effect on my guide in any way?

The paperwork has not been signed yet. He really worked hard to get me these points.

At most he'd probably have to suffer the pain of a larger commission. Although, I've heard they are not "commissioned" salespeople, but they probably get some type of bonuses based on how much they sell. I doubt your guide will be broken hearted. ;)

We would actually have the right amount of pts with the 150 BCV add on.

If we do the 150 now and then add on at SSR later I think we will have too many.

We only really go in May and October and already own nice chunks at VB and VWL.

I guess I will do the 100/100.

Keep the votes coming.

I'm glad my guide won't be put out by any of this. We will actually buy more points if we do the 100/100.

I added on at the BCV, which was my home resort, I did not want the hassles of split points between different resorts. And I really liked the location of the BCV over all other resorts anyway.

That said, I sense that you really want to addon at SSR, so you might be disappointed if you don't do that.

Good Luck!

Wow, this is strange. I had almost exactly the same question. I was originally going to do 100 BCV and 100 SSR. Since I was changing the names on the contract, it had to be a 'new' contract, and one of them needed to be 150 points. So, then I thought, OK, what about 150 BCV and 100 SSR.

Then I made whole big plan, every other year here, then there, etc... But, I wanted to make a small change, and the split points would have made it more difficult.

I ended up settling on 210 points for BCV, and I rationalized it like this. I want >180 points so I can get a GV at OKW for five days in Adventure season. To 'trade' 180 points with an OKW owner, it's much easier if they're all under the same contract. The 30 extra are for good measure, or to get an additional weekend day in a 2BR at BCV every other year. As for SSR, I really wanted it due to a possible theme pool, but I might as well stay with BCV for that. Also, I wanted to stay there for adult only trips so we could walk to Downtown Disney. Since SSR will be so big, I figure that a few years from now, when SSR is built out, there will be a large number of owners. We'll all be fighting for 11 month trades at OKW for GVs, and I'll have a little more bargaining power since BCV is so nice, perfectly situated, small and most importantly, sold out.

Sorry floridafam that I ahven't gottn back to you. I've been so busy! I say go for both. Plus, if you later need to sell, SSr you'll probaby make some money off of, liek thsoe first peopel did from OKW! The incentives ar a nice deal, this will ease your mom instead of you buying at only BCV and then wishing you wodul ahev doen SSR. Now you'll get both words. Definetly the split way.
Good luck!

I voted for 100 at each since I assume you are young enough to take advantage of the SSR extra years.

DH and I are both 31.

Keep the votes coming. I'm going to call my guide later today.:D

Thanks everyone.

100 at BCV is a 1 br in Premier Season for Sun-Thurs. every other year.

As for my $.02.................

I voted for the 150 at BCV, and here is why. The way I always looked at our DVC purchases was to figure what our likely accomodation requirements would be in the future and buy enough points to allow us to get what we needed when the time came. We also like to book at 11 months rather than having to chance it and wait until 7 months. As we are a growing family, I knew that in the future we would be a family of 5 or more, with kids in school, who would have to travel during summers or school vacations. So, I looked at how many points a 2 br during these times would require. Then we bought enough points so that with banking and borrowing we could stay in each resort we purchased (BWV and VWL) every other year. That way we had a trip a year. One year BWV, the next VWL, etc., etc.

First off, I have no idea where your family is headed in size. However, if you think you would require a 2 br in the future 150 BCV points would make it quicker and easier to accumulate the points you'd need for a BCV 2br (282 - 314) during the times you travel. With 100 points at several different resorts it would take you longer to make that many points available at the 11 month mark.

If you don't anticipate needing a 2 br, or the 11 month booking window isn't important to you, then maybe 100 at BCV and SSR would be the better choice.

How's about this....................take the 150 at BCV and do a 50 point add on at SSR. That might give you better options for securing reservations at the hard to get BCV and also give you some SSR points to play with as well.

We usually travel every year in May and October.

Our family size will not increase (at least I hope not)

We own enough pts at VB and VWL for almost all of our vacation needs.

100 pts at BCV would give us quite a nice stay every other year. The years we didn't go to BCV, we would go to VWL or SSR.

Thanks for all of your help and information. Everyone has made such good points.

I'm still trying to decide so keep those votes coming. :D

Hey Floridafam

My DH and I went through the same issues. We have contracts at BCV and love the resort. We finally decided to do nothing about SSR for now. 100 points isn't really enough to stay for a significant amount of time unless you use a studio at the value season, which is not at option for us.

We agreed that if we want to stay at SSR, we will use the 7 month window and try it sometime. I think it is easier to have all your points and one resort and then move around as you choose. However, we may be biased since one of our main motivations for purchasing was to be at the BCV location. SSR would be more an emotional purchase since we used to stay at that location with my parents when it was the Institute.

Maybe you can talk your other half into 200 points at BCV!!!!That would be my choice rather than 100 BCV and 100 SSR.

Good Luck

labr,

You're not making this easy for me.:teeth:

150 is all I have at BCV-I was lucky enough to get those. There aren't any more for my use year.

We already own at VWL and VB.

Would it be too much hassle to own at 4 resorts?

We liked the idea of having one with the longer contract date.

 :D
