Thanks for your help. How did you go abotu getting the Visa what did you have to do? just ring the embassy and apply for an apointtment? bear in mind with the time scale being 40 days to get the report back it will only give me 2 and a half weeks before i go away, is that enough time to get a Visa?

I rang the embassy and they will give you the next available appointment. We managed to get an appointment within the 2 weeks but it can take longer, there are also other forms that you need to fill out.
We went to Belfast as this seemed be the better turn around time.
My son was told there and then that he had got the visa, they kept the passport and said that it would be with him the next day which it was, this was by recorded delivery.

I've actually had a reply from them giving me the date that it should be done by, I assumed 40 working days not 40 days which it actually is and it is due back a month and a half before I go, so if worse does come to worse I won't be in a desperate rush for a really quick appointment
