I had my whole trip planned out, but the other day I got a packet from Disney with a $15 voucher for Planet Hollywood. Is it worth using? Is it just like a gift certificate, and if I spent say $16, would I only have to pay the $1 difference?

Also, I can't seem to fit it into my schedule. The only day I can really fit it into is day seven for lunch, but I was leaving that day open for lunch at Earl of Sandwhich and a sundae at Ghiradelli, both of which I really want to eat at, especially since I missed them both on my last trip, so should I even bother with Planet Hollywood?

we received a voucher too.....But we are not on a schedule this trip........Hope that you do try the Earl of Sandwich because that is always a must do the last few years......have a good visit to the House of the Mouse

Oh, I've been to Earl twice, I know how good it is. My last trip was just too short, and I couldn't fit in a trip to DTD. But I have a whole afternoon set aside for shopping, (have to love 10-night trips,) and wanted to eat lunch there. I've never eaten at Planet Hollywood though, so don't know if I should eat there instead. We have a dinner ADR at WPC, so it has to be lunch, it can't be dinner. My mom's never eaten at either restaurant though, and she said she'll leave it up to me, especially since I always talk about the Ghiradelli sundaes. So it'll either be Planet Hollywood with the voucher, (though with two of us, I don't think $15 will cover lunch,) or Earl with a CS credit, (we'll probably split one CS meal,) and Ghiradelli for sundaes OOP.

We used the PH voucher in 2006 on the day we arrived at WDW and used the $15 voucher as a lunch during one of our days at WDW this past May. I think it's worth it.

My DW and I do not plan our WDW trip with too much detail. We try to visit DTD a few times during our trip so that we can eat at a few places there and get in some shopping and pin trading.

We've also not been able to use the voucher. I ususally plan pretty tight for "the World" and never seem to fit in Planet Hollywood! Have fun and do what YOU wnat to do regardless of a coupon!!!!!!!

On that note, we've never used the mini-golf voucher that we received with our package.

My DW and I keep our planning to knowing what park we are going to on what day and then take it as the day comes. :cool1:

We have not used our coupon in the past either but this trip I did plan for it. Our check in at POP is on 9/20 and one of our frustrations of the last 2 trips has been having that first 1/2 day where you can't do much. This time we are flying in on the 19th and we used a mousesaver discount for the Royal Plaza in DTD. We got our room there plus free breakfast for $100. We are also spending $40 on thier transportation from the airport on the 19th to the Royal Plaza. We arrive early afternoon so we will get the hotel around 3pm. We are going to check in, swim and relax, dine at Planet Hollywood with the kids using the coupon and then get a good nights sleep. In the morning we'll have our free breakfast and then we plan to be at POP by about 9am so that we can check in and get to a park.

I've been to that Planet Hollywood before and it was fun. It is pricey though but the food is enough to share. My hubby and I will most likely share a dinner and appetizer while the kids have thier meals.

I am excited about this extra planning for this trip. For the extra $150 we are spending (i'm adding in tip money for the driver) - plus whatever dinner ends up costing - it is going to give us a full extra day at POP and the parks. Plus we will start the vacation off rested. On our last trip in Feb. we caught a super early flight, still didn't get to POP until after 2pm and then we were so excited to be there we pushed ourselves too hard and ended up at the parks too late. All the excitement and lack of sleep both my son and I ended up sick and worn down. It took the first 3 days just to get us back to normal.

We have never used the mini-golf one and honestly doubt we will.

Don't waste your time. PH is an outdated relic that was really popular about 10-15 years ago (not sure how old it is) but now is passe' and they've got to entice people there. The food is very average...think TGI Fridays...and if it is actually crowded it can be loud and service frazzled. I mean, it can be neat to see some costumes from movies and stuff like that, but don't go out of your way. If you're in DTD and it's lunch time, go for it.

I'd like to use our voucher too. I think we might head to DTD in the afternoon one day and just get a couple appetizers and a drink or two and then hit Ghiradelli ice cream shop. If we don't eat too much at PH, we should have plenty room for dessert!

Help me out guys! We received a voucher for a free entree last year, October. I can't seem to find it so I will just assume it is expired.

I am going down for a quick weekend at the end of next month and we actually plan to go to pleasure island after we check in. We're staying a CBR with a room only rate. Do you have to book a package to get the free voucher? If not, when does it arrive?

TIA!!!

Isn't it possible to just use the voucher to order 1 or 2 desserts or appetizers "to go"? :)

I thought the voucher is actually only good for money off of certain burger plates or pasta dishes?

Yes, does anyone know if the voucher is only for certain things? I think I remember last year it was for the burger platters, and we didn't use them because if we go to PH that's not what we order... this year it is the $$ amount, and is that good for say "drinks & appetizers"? anyone????:confused3

PH is fun the 1st time. If you've never been...go for it :car:

After that....think TGI Fridays...average food, loud, and slow service.

The fact that they have to pay people $15 to get them to think about their resturant (in a World where everything else gets booked 90 days ahead of time)...should tell you something.

The voucher they sent out for 2006 was for like a choice of three certain entrees and a drink. I think maybe a salad, a hamburger, or a pasta dish. The voucher for 2007 says:

'Redeem this voucher at Planet Hollywood located in the DTD West Side to receive a credit of $15 valid for food and non-alcoholic beverages, only. VIP Preferred seating is available from 11am-6pm. Voucher is required for redemption and is non-transferable. Dine in only. Lost or stolen vouchers will not be replaced. Voucher is not valid with any other offer, discount, or promotion and may not be redeemed for cash in whole or in part. Offer subject to change without notice. Not valid or to be used in conjunction with the Disney Dining Program. Valid one certificate per room. Valid for travel 1/1/07 thru 1/15/08'.

Then it has a Bar Code.

FYI: they don't have to be used on the trip they were issued for. We got one for our trip last Sept and we didn't use it, so when I went back in Dec I asked and was able to use it with no problem. They said quite a few people don't use it if they are on the DDP, but will use it on a subsequent trip where they booked a room only. I have one from my trip this past May and will have another one from my trip this coming Sept. I plan to use both during my upcoming Dec '07 trip.

To answer the other question, you only get the PH voucher if you book a pkg. Room only ressies don't get them.

The one we got with our package last year...dd used for her meal. She had to choose between a salad (chicken ceasar I think), burger and some pasta dish. We were planning to go there anyway, so it was a nice bonus for us. We like the captain crunch chicken strips, and I loved their salmon dish. The youngest dd's pizza tasted like spaghettio's...seriously!! She helped me with my salmon!

I just read my voucher and it says......15 dollars off any food and non alcoholic beverage......not transferrable.....and for eat in only......

That's good! :thumbsup2

Now I'm wondering if our party of 6 will be able to use 2 vouchers for our table, as we have 2 rooms.

We used it this time and it was not even in my plans. We checked out of WL at 11:00 and our flight out of Sanford did not leave until 6:20PM. We decided to go to Downtown Disney and DisneyQuest to kill time. Since we had the Planet Hollywood voucher and had never eaten in a PH we decided to try it. DH and sons had burgers and I had a grilled chicken sandwich. With the voucher, they took $15 off the bill. It was definitely worth it and the food wasn't bad.
