Hi Everyone,
How could I not have known about DIS until yesterday is beyond me. After a quick scan there is so much great stuff here, especially the forum.
We (our family) have gone to WDW since the early 1990's almost every year. We own a time share just outside the parks which allowed us to do this. We've driven (from up in Canada.......27 hours driving time over 2 or 3 days) about 1/2 the time and flown the other 1/2.
Now that our kids are grown (early '20's) my oldest daughter and I still go and relish our trips. She is a special needs adult with, as is the case for many such adults, limited outside activities or interests other than movies and, well, Disney. For me, it was the way Disney treated our family over the years in making us feel special. That's why I don't mind taking her back on my own now that she is an adult. You know what they say about 'priceless' (even on a limited budget).
While we are not experts by any means, if anyone has a Q about our experiences visiting the parks with a special needs family member, feel free to ask and I'll share with you ours including visiting as a father with a special needs daughter and locating those ever elusive companion washrooms.
