What wil he be able to do at DL & DCA? :confused3
What will his restrictions be?
Thanks in advance for all your advice!
We are going in 2 weeks for his Golden Birthday!

Must be something in the water because my 14 yr old broke his arm yesterday and we leave on Sunday. My son is casted up to his elbow.

I don't expect any restrictions. No swimming, of course. If you are worried about the cast getting wet on Splash or GRR, you could put a plastic bag over it.

YMMV. I have 3 active boys and this is not our first (second or third!) broken bone, so my comfort level may be different than yours.

Enjoy your trip.

There are no restrictions in the park per say. I'm a professional as far as casts are concerned because I had a bad wrist fracture which left me in a cast for over 2 years, had 7 different wrist reconstructions. My left wrist is now completely fuzed (I'm only 25 years old).

How long ago was the fracture?

Make sure you bring a sling with you(if the cast allows for sling positioning. Being in a park, walking all day can tire you out. Also for icing purposes, wearing a sling allows for easy slotting of an ice pack between your shoulder and fingers(where you will be placing the ice pack). The first aid offices in the park are always excellent in giving you ice packs.

BIG PIECE OF ADVICE! get an arm "condom". Best device invented. He will be able to shower, play in the pools, do all water rides!! this thing is amazing. They can be hard to find but I can help you find one for your trip. See the pictures below of me when I had my cast and my arm "condom".

Feel free to pm me :rotfl:

There's probably quite a bit he can do. I'd stay away from the roller coasters but Monsters Inc, Buzz, TSMM (depends if it's his dominant arm), Soarin, POTC, HM. Those are just a few of the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I just found out Thursday that my DD has broken her radius right above her wrist. It took 2 weeks and two doctors to find the break, it was only visible on one of the 5 x-rays taken. She is not in a cast, she is wearing a arm brace. It is a different kind of break this time and she's been doing well with the brace so they opted not to place her in a cast. We will be in Disneyland in 3 weeks. Three years ago she broke her ulna on the same arm just above the wrist, that year we went to WDW. She had a cast up to her elbow. She did not swim and she put a bag over her arm on Splash Mountain and the other water rides. The only thing was she did get a little sweaty which caused her arm to feel itchy. We would go back to the room and put the hairdryer on low and "dry-out" the cast. Her doctor told me to do this as the liner gets wet and makes the arm feel itchy. Otherwise she had a great time, she even had the characters sign her arm with sharpee. She has it on display in her room. Hope you have a great time!

I would ask your doctor specifically and make sure it is okay. I asked my doctor last time about the roller-coasters, etc. He said that nothing would hurt her arm in that cast. She never had any pain at all and rode everything even HTT and Rock'n'Roller Coaster in WDW. He also said that with the fiber-glass casts even if you get it wet it will not hurt the cast, but if the liner gets wet it will smell really bad and could cause skin problems inside the cast.
