...

What a sweet story - and I loooove the new siggie pic!

Awwww... thanks. Since we won't be taking any big vacations this year, our Aruban honeymoon has been on my mind a lot, so I figured it was time to change the pic to reflect that and remind me how good that tan looked on me, since I won't be getting one of those this summer either with a newborn on the way.... ;)

He's my DH and we're going to have our 10 year V.R. next year.

It was in 1996. I was in my last year of law school at Indiana University. I got invited to a house party thrown by a classmate. I wasn't planning on going because I don't drink and I thought it would just be another night of watching my friends get wasted. But then I got told that there would be a polka band playing at the party (I think for kitsch value). I was excited because I actually learned how to polka at my all-girls high school in Chicago.

MEANWHILE, on the other side of town. My DH was in med school and getting a visit from his high school best friend (Matt), whose brother (John) happened to attend law school. While they were making their plans for the night, John told DH about a law school party that was having a band at their house. They presumed it was a rock band. Both of us were given just the right information to get us there that night. If he had known it was a polka band he wouldn't have come, if I had thought it was a rock band, I wouldn't have come.

We actually had that moment when our eyes met across a crowded room. But it was because we were the only brown people at the party. Later that night Matt started hitting on me. But then he said, "You should meet my friend Mesh, he's Indian too. His parents are from Kerala." I was shocked because that's the state that my parents are from too, and it's a really small state that speaks a separate language from the rest of India. I had never met another Keralite in Indiana. I met Mesh and found out he grew up in northwest Indiana, outside of Chicago. We compared notes to see if we knew anyone in common. It was an okay conversation. Matt (as wingman) memorized my number and left Mesh a note that said he should call me because I was hot. Once again, if Matt wasn't such a great memorizer, Mesh would have never thought of finding my number.

He called a couple of days later and we had an absolutely fantastic conversation. We met up a couple of days later and had a great first date. Two weeks later he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said no because I was dating 2 other guys at the time and didn't want to commit. Four weeks later I realized that he was THE ONE:love: . The one I wanted to marry, have babies with, and change the diapers of in our old age. I broke up with the other guys and "went steady" for the first time in my life (he hates when I say that);) . But he's the only one I've ever "been with", and ever will be with and that makes me ecstatically happy each day. It's been 6 1/2 years since our last fight, and we're just so compatible and considerate that I can't even imagine having another one.

We got married a year and a half after we met. We had huge Catholic/Hindu weddings with an "intimate" lunch reception for 350 and a dinner reception for 750. Not my idea of a good time. Our vow renewal will be with our 3 kids and the 12 members of our immediate family. Now THAT's what I consider a good time!

sajilunni - I love your story! That is so great!! Thanks for sharing and best wishes on your vow renewal :goodvibes

DF and I met in 6th grade. He used to follow me around and tell me "they" were after me:confused3 . We went our seperate ways after that and met again in 9th grade on our school bus. I didnt even recognize him...he was so hot!:rotfl2: Well shortly after we met again we started dating and we've been together ever since. We were 14 when we started dating!! Now we've been together for 5 years almost and are planning our DFTW!:yay:

My dad was a partner in a flight school/plane rental business. One weekend I was meeting some friends at the beach and I asked him if he could possibly fly me over there and save the 3-4 hour drive by myself. My dad instead set up for one of the pilots Andrew to fly me over there. He had liked him alot and had been wanting for us to meet. We hit it off really well and talked the whole flight. I said when I got back I would love to take hi out to dinner to say thanks. The dinner then turned into all night talking, and eventually turned into an awesome summer of dates and now almost four years later we are still dating and planning our Disney wedding :). You would never think your parents setting you up would work but I couldn't be any happier.

My friend and I were always looking for something to do, so started attending SAK, an improv club. Since it was improv, it's different every week, so we became regulars. Partially because it was funny but mostly because there were really cute guys there! :rotfl: After a few months she and I both started chatting up the guys we had our eyes on (NOT DH, humorously). We all started hanging out in big groups and on one of the outings we saw Lilo & Stitch. I happened to sit next to DH and we both HATED IT (sorry, Lilo lovers! :cutie: ). We made fun of it the whole time and made plans to hang out again in the future.

I realized what the heck was I doing chatting up the other guy when this guy (now-DH) was so perfect for me. Our first phone conversation was over two hours  and he made a mention of how he had a vision of me in a wedding dress. O-kay. I thought that was a little weird, but went along with the flow, and we were married four years, nine months to the day later (even incorporated the vision in a wedding dress bit into our vows!).

I love all these stories! They're all so sweet! :thumbsup2

Dave and I met on eHaromy.com. We chatted through emails for a few months, till we felt like we wanted to meet. Our first date was at an Aquarium, which I liked. It gave us a chance to walk around, chat and have something to look at. When I first saw Dave, I just knew he was everything he said he was, which doesn’t always happen when your doing online dating. We had a great day, after walking around for a few hours we went to the Outback for lunch and sat for few hours chatting some more. Then he walked me back to my car, where we said good night and that was it. We have been together ever since and its been wonderful.

i have to start by saying that all of these stories are so wonderful! and i basically love this thread bcuz i ADORE telling our story and sadly my friends dnt care about hearing it... weird...:confused3 :lmao:

I also must warn everybdy, this is a rather long story... but worth it IMOH

To begin at the beginning, I was working at the local Albertsons when my DBF (soon to b DF) was hired and, luckily, I was elected to show him around the store. We got to talking and he asked why I worked at Albertsons. After telling him that the only reason i was working was to send myself to Europe, he replied with ?s about my trip. I mentioned that I was going to be traveling with a group of HS students and a few teachers and he replied "oh my little brother is going on that trip too!"... As it turns out, (DBF is 2 yrs older than me btw), his little brother was my long-time crush in jr. high... which, for some reason, I decided to mention to my DBF then and he still teases me about now... newho, after laughing about this for awhile, DBF says "Oh, you'll have a lot of fun on your trip, I went on the same one 2 years ago"... well, I also went on the trip 2 yrs ago!... we had spent 21 days in Europe together with 48 other students and never met, don't remember the other at all!!!!... and, when looking through my photos later, my DBF is actually in a photo that I keep on my nightstand!... so it seems like we had a history together b4 even knowing each other!:lmao: so after spending another 18 days in Europe, this time with DBF's brother, I came home, back to work, began dating my DBF.... and the rest, as they say, is history...

ps. needless to say, i definitely ended up with the right brother ;)

Fun stories!! Mine is kinda boring. :sad2: I was the manager of a restaurant and he was there visiting a friend. He decided to apply as a server that night and a couple weeks later he was hired. A year after he was hired we started dating amidst lots of drama. Technically since I was his manager we weren't supposed to be dating. Well, we continued dating and almost three years after we first met he asked me to marry him at WDW. We had already been on a few disney trips and he knew how much a loved Disney and is just as excited as I am to be having a DL wedding!

What cute stories!

We have a "paths crossing" kind of story, too.

I went to Catholic school and when my class made our communion in second grade the public school CCD kids came to our school to learn about it. We were told NOT to talk to them.

Well, my DF was one of those boys I wasn't allowed to talk to. In my communion pictures, I have his parents behind me! lol.

Well, we grow up and go to college, where I meet one of my sorority sisters and best friends who knew him all through high school.

She tries to get us together, but the one day he drove to NJ to see me, I had to leave for a family thing so he only caught a 2 minute glimpse of me.

He decided I was cute, and IM'd me a few times but we had never actually "met" for a real conversation.

This friend was going to his undergrad for grad school and took me on a road trip to look at apts, etc. The two of us stayed at DF's apt. It was that weekend that we really had time to connect. I remember seeing his Disney glasses on a shelf and hearing him quote Romeo and Juliet and knowing this was the guy for me!

Since that weekend in 2002, we've never been apart, heck we haven't gone a single day without speaking to each other. In my last year of college, we had a "long distance" thing going, but now we live in the same town and are planning our DFTW.

Are moms were pregnant together in church, and we went to preschool together. We parted ways (or so we thought) until we met in youth group at our home town church, during the superbowl. He was "coxing" me into rooting for his team. And we've been together ever since.

Me and my DF first met in September 1991 on our first day of secondary school (i think that's high school in the US?) :)

We were in the same tutor group (registration class) and so saw each other every day for 5 years.

DF liked me and hand made me a valentines card when we were 12 :lovestruc but i didnt like him so i threw it in the bin during maths class :lmao: (i dont remember doing this but he still assures me that he is deeply scarred by the whole thing ;) ).

Anyway we never dated in school, but we always got on great... he sat next to me in our tutor group and we had a daily thing about clashing elbows as he is left handed and i am right handed (he tells me now he made sure he sat next to me in class lol :rotfl: )

We left school in 1996 and then i saw him briefly in 1997 when he offered to drive me and my mates to a club out of town :drive: (again he said he tried to ask me out then but i never got that vibe lol) :confused3

After that i didnt see him again until 2003 at which point i suddenly knew he was the one for me  ... this was christmas eve :santa: , we had our first kiss at midnight and have been together ever since! :woohoo:

I still think it's crazy but funny how life works in mysterious ways! :wizard:

We met my first year of college. We had acting class together and we were talking about places we want to go. I had said Japan and his turn came a little after mine and he also said Japan. Then later he noticed my bag had an anime (japanese character) on it and he asked me if I had seen the movie for it. After that we just started talking and eventually became friends, then about a month or so later he took me out on our first date =). We've been going out for two years since then, he proposed to me when he was down to visit me last month :lovestruc . He goes off to bootcamp for the Coast Guard next week :sad1: .

Another "met while working at Disney" couple here too!

We were both on the International Program in 2003/04. Craig was a bartender/server at the Rose and Crown in the UK Pavilion and I worked Merch in "Canada". I spotted him in the cafeteria one day and dropped a lame line about the weather. Went home and grilled my brit roomie about him, but she wasn't sure who I was talking about. A couple days later we figured out who it was and she introduced me to him at a party a few days later. We spent the entire day after the party...seven hours...at the pool and when we went to meet up with friends for dinner, they all bailed on us. We went to dinner at Planet Hollywood alone that night and the rest is history. He has immigrated to Canada and our Disney Wedding is on May 5th!

Wow Alex and I met @ his cousins Christmas party 2006. I knew his family for years since we go to the same church. I dont remember meeting him but pretty sure i did. Anyways i found him on myspace and we talked ever since then. We thought we didnt like each other but we kept talking I got a bf and then dumped him and Alex was still there ( I was so Happy about that!!!). We finally asked me out and date and then another date and then we started going out in April 07. I'm happy the way it happened I got to know him as a friend and best one at that. He is my best friend and I love him so much!!!

I met mine on match.com actaully. I had met a few other not so nice guys and was recently out of a relationship that I thought I loved the guy so I wasn't really into talking to anyone but I got a message on match and I thought he was a little kid he spelt nothing right and the email was like 2 months old! But I wrote back and we started talking on AIM and then moved to the phone. The first time we talked on the phone for hours until 4am when he realized he had to get up to work for 6 or something! I kept making up excuses when he wanted to meet because he'd never had a girlfriend and I figured he was just another jerk. I'm so glad I gave him the chance because he's amazing.
