...

I met Tim by sitting on him at a club! It was a dark club and he was slouching, in black, on a black settee and I didn't see him until I plonked myself on him. We frightened the life out of each other! We didn't really speak, just mumbled apologies and giggled.

I then went to an after-hours bar and he walked in. I went over and told him he wasn't a very comfortable cushion, and we got chatting.

He came back to mine and we spent all day and all night talking and realised there was something very special between us.

The following weekend he moved in (!) and we talked about getting married. We couldn't believe it - we knew we would be together for the rest of our lives.

We're not sure exactly how long ago that was, or exactly when, but it was about 11 years ago. We officially got engaged two years ago in Goa on Christmas Day, but we had really been engaged in that first week.

It's funny when people say they know they have met 'the one' instantly and that certainly happened to us. I have never met anyone I would have lived with within a year, let alone a week, but we both just knew.

From my PJ:
Howard and I met while at different Pennsylvania colleges in October 1982. We were both involved with Circle K International, a co-ed college service organization affiliated with Kiwanis (both our clubs worked with Special Olympics and the organization is still very important in our lives). He was at college in the Pittsburgh area and I was college at the eastern-most part of the state and, as officers at our respective clubs, we both attended a leadership training conference at a retreat center mid-state. When we walked into the lodge to register Friday night, the conversation with my friend Liza went something like this:
Me: Oh, my God. Who is that guy? (across the room)
Liza: “Kevin ___?”
Me: “No, I know Kevin. The other guy. The really cute guy with the baseball cap.”
Liza: “Howie? You think Howie is cute?”
Me: “Yeah, he has the greatest smile!” (He had just laughed at something Kevin said).
Liza: “He has braces and glasses!”
Me: “I don’t care. He has the greatest smile. You know what, Liza? I’m going to marry him.”
Liza: “What about C___?” (my unofficial no-ring-yet “fiancé”)
Me: “C who?”

Liza introduced us and apparently Howard asked to have me assigned to the group he was leading that weekend. We ended up dancing the last slow dance at the Saturday night party and I literally knew what it was to tremble in someone's arms. Someone happened to take a picture of us at some point that weekend, when we were doing a team-building exercise where you rub the person’s shoulders in front of you and ask three questions. I can’t remember the questions, but I remember having goosebumps being near him.
At the end of the weekend, we exchanged addresses and started a penpal relationship that lasted until we got married. I broke up with my pseudo-fiance shortly after meeting Howard. We were married about 26 1/2 months after we met. :lovestruc

Beep I love your story! So cute! I can't believe you moved in together so soon, it is pretty amazing when you know that's the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with!

Thank you! It was amazing, and a bit scary too. My Mom was horrified when I told her, I think she had visions of her little girl being scammed or being buried under the patio. She absolutely adores Tim which is brilliant.

BWAHAHA! Love it! That definitely made me laugh. Well... for your mother's sake, I'm glad you didn't get burried underneath the porch lol. :lmao:

Bob and I met in an online Disney game (VMK - Virtual Magic Kingdom) BTW he is now my DH.

We both started playing the game as Beta testers a few years ago. I lived in California and he lived here in Florida.

We had mutual friends in the game and started all hanging out together in the evenings (we knew we were all adults) A mutual game friend was having some problems so we got together on Dis in PM to try to help her out. Started sharing info in Dis Pm. And played the game together every morning and night.

When we both realized that we were the first person each of us talked to every morning and the last at night we decided we had to meet in person.

He flew out to Ca. and we went to DL. I flew back with him to FL and we spent a week at WDW. It was total comfort and love at all times, rofl.

I went back for another visit and we looked for an apartment for the two of us. He flew out to Ca last June and we packed my stuff in a POD and sent it off then drove back to Fl.

We married in a ceremony with our family and many VMK friends in a Villa at OKW. So much fun!

BTW - I am 62 and Bob is 59 (we call him my Boy Toy) Who knew what a silly Disney kids game could lead to? :thumbsup2

I stole mine DF from my best friend....:rolleyes1

JUST KIDDING!! Well kinda, not really. We're high school sweethearts and actually meet when he and my BF were dating. They ended it, (they realized that they were just friends) and it was actually her idea to set us up. It was a dare to see if I could actually get him. Yeah, right, like I couldn't get a guy :rolleyes2 (just kidding). I had to date him for a few weeks to prove it. So we started hanging out, (we were both in the band, he was on drumline, I was guard). After a while, I realized that he was special and we've been together ever since! And another funny thing is, I used to live just seconds away from him and never knew it!! When my family would go out riding four-wheelers, I would look at his house and I always loved it! Well, he told me one day that he missed the family that used to go four-wheeling! I was like wait, describe... Well that was me and my family. He had always wanted to come out and ask if he could go with us!! Go figure right!:lmao:

So a two week dare turned out to be the best thing I've ever done!
And my BF met a guy a few weeks later and is now planning her wedding for May!
