do you all pre buy your tickets before you go or is it cheaper to buy then in orlando?
also would you just do disney on your first trip or try to do a few parks like
sea world or kennedy space centre?

We always buy ours in the US, however, because we do not spend every day around the parks we do find that they tend to last us a few holidays.
We have the 10 day premium Magic Your Way Disney tickets that we bought from
www.mapleleaftickets.com, these do not expire and give us the hopper facility too which means we can visit more than 1 park in a day and have 5 water park days also.
Our Annual Passes for Universal are excellent value as well.
If it is your first time, I would not bother with Kennedy as you will have enough to do in the Orlando area.
I would suggest you do not try and cram too much in as you would I am sure want to plan a couple of rest days perhaps?
It may be a good idea once you have your Disney passes sorted to maybe get a 2 day pass for the Universal parks, this way you will have plenty of time to sample these too.
I would advise you to get your US/IOA passes when you get out there, maybe you could just also buy a single day pass for Sea World too.
