Hello all -- Any ideas for a special 13th birthday ? :confused3 My DD birthday is Nov. 18th and I would like to do something extra special. Please help.

TIA

What does she like? Any specific bands, movies, books, etc.? Does she have a lot of friends? Is there somewhere she's been wanting to go or something she has been wanting to do?
I think that the best kinds of surprises, even when I was 13, have been the ones where someone realy paid attention to what I like and did something for me that I would never ask for. for example, when I was 11, my favorite band was All-4 One (thirteen years ago...) and my mom got me 2nd row seats to their concert. She went with me, of course. We went out to dinner beforehand and everything and it was a GREAT birthday.
So, let us know what it is she likes, and at least I'll try to help you out :thumbsup2

My 13th birtday last year was a suprise party at a resteraunt. That was only because my mom was temporarily disabled.

I don't know if this would be her thing, but maybe a girlfriend and her could go to the salon and get a manicure, pedicure and their hair done. My 17 year old daughter is a girly girl and loves stuff like that.

We're taking our DD to WDW for her 13th next summer & have offered to let her bring a friend.

I've heard of parents booking a hotel room for 4-6 13yos. (The grown-ups get an adjoining room.) They let the kids order room service, movies, vid games, and swim in the indoor pool. The kids think it's a blast and it's really easy for the parents. (Not cheap, but not outrageous either.)

Edited for clarification: It's mainly just a slumber party with a new twist.

We did a 'shop til you drop' themed-party at the local mall. Teams of three girls each went on a scavenger hunt (which I wrote) with really fun questions and things to find, and then lunch and cake at the Applebee's at the mall. They used the Applebee's time to share their 'hunt' answers and purchases and choose a winner for the scavenger hunt. They had sooooooo much fun!
PM me if you 'd like more details.

Thanks everyone !! I have thought of some of these ideas. I like the idea of a spa treatment -- that way I can use it too;). I do like the idea of the hotel thing too. I did mention the spa thing to her, she loved the idea, now I wish I wouldn't have cause now it won't be such a surprise. I looked into Hotel Hershey -- just a few hours away! I absolutley love that idea, but every date I put in says it is not available. That sounds like the ultimate spa treatment --- Chocolate Spa stuff!!! I am going to keep checking.

I did a surprise birthday party for my daughter at a Japanese hibachi restaurant. We invited about 6 of her friends, who surprised her when we arrived at the restaurant. We got the early special, and the girls had a blast.

Another party we did was at a "wings" type restaurant. We reserved a large table on their outside patio, and as each girl arrived, I asked her what her wings flavor preference was. We ordered several baskets of fries for the girls to share and several platters of wings, and we brought a cake with us (ok'd with the restaurant).

Both of these parties were relatively inexpensive, and the girls loved it!

We rented out the local fire hall and hired a DJ. DD had about 70 kids. Her and her friend both turned 13 withith a week of each other so they had a joint party.

We did the surprise party at hibachi this past October when dd turned 14. She came in and saw 10 friends sitting there. She was surprised alright.
