Many of those symptoms are what you'd have with a sinus infection- actually, most are (and I have had those symptoms without any green or discolored gunk in my nose).

It also can be allergies.

I'd get an appointment right away and have a doctor look at it. If it is an infection, antibiotics can make you feel better quickly most of the time. If it's allergies, they may be able to give you a spray to open up the sinuses better.

I've had sinus problems forever - both infections (on occasion) and allergies. Some of the symptoms are similar to each other. I have not had allergies all my life, they started kicking in when I was in my early 30's.

You could just have sinusitis, which doesn't necessarily indicate an infection but just inflamed sinus passages due to dry air, allergens, a previous cold, etc.

My doctor, before presribing antibiotics, will always push me to try to take Sudafed (and NOT the PE kind) on a regular basis for a week or so. This gives the decongestant enough time to truly "loosen" things up and allows the passeges to shrink.

You could also try using a Neti Pot every day or a saline wash in your nose to get things moving.

If you are having bad headaches, pressure over your cheekbones and eyes, and a thick discharge then you need to think toward an infection.

Matt has the occasional sinus problem but not enough to warrant doctor visits or at least he doesn't think so.

He takes OTC tylenol sinus meds. Try a shower soother to open up your head to release some of the pressure. Be careful with some of the OTC meds because they can make you sleepy. I'm not sure if you want that or not.

ooh, you want to watch out for that. I know of a person whose eardrum ruptured after flying with a sinus infection. Yeah, you definitely want to get that looked at. You don't want to see your sister after things have exploded in your head, ya know?

Good luck getting a dr's appt ASAP!

Thanks.. No discharge at all - I blow my nose and nothing comes out.. The heat in this house is very dry.. Maybe I'll take a walk around the drug store before I try to squeeze in a trip to my doctor..

Do you have a humidifier? We sleep with a cool mist humidifier by the bed and have another in our living room to fight the dryness in our place. It really has helped with our headaches.
