Okay, I know everyone wants to know what loop to request, but we are heading down for our 1st camping at FW next week and I still have a few questions. What about 1300? I think it was just upgraded. We requested a Premium loop, have no pets and one 8yr.old . We would like to be by the water to fish, wooded and privacy is more important than being near any amenities. Have been reading all I can and looking at videos on UTUBE. Just dont know what loop is the best for us. Any ideas? Thanks:cutie:

Yes, 1300 is now a premium loop. We were on 1300 over Memorial Day weekend, and really enjoyed it. Our site was across the street from the canal separating 1300 from Meadow Rec Area. At first, I thought we'd hear a lot of noise from the pool, but it was really a quiet loop. My first choice for a loop has always been 1700, but we couldn't score a full hook up that weekend and sprung for a premium site.

If you want to have a site on the water, make sure you have that noted on your ressie. 800, 900, 1000, 1300, 1400 are all premium loops that have sites on the canals. 1100 had 1 site on the canal (1106), 300 is a preferred loop with beautiful sites on the canal - actually, the sites on the canal in the 300 loop are the best sites for fishing, the view, and it's a short walk to view the fireworks from the beach. 1800 is a full hook up loop with canal sites.

If you only need a partial hook up, 1500 & 2000 also offer canal sites.

I hope this narrows it down for you! :rotfl2:

1300 loop has some playground toys at the start of the loop that should be fun for a 8 year old. If that helps.

Thanks for the info. Guess the first trip is always the hardest,I know we'll have a great time no matter what loop we're in!

we prefer the 800 loop but last October for our week long trip to the fort we were placed in 1300. I was actually a nice loop and close to everything. We were closer to the entrance and loved how close we were to the playground for the little ones

The 800 loop seems to be very popular, would you chose it as you're favorite?

Which premium are the Best

That depends on what you want to be close to. Each loop has advantages.

If you want to be close to the Settlement/Trail's End/Marina, then you'd want to be in 700 or 400.

If you want to be near Meadow recreation, then 900, 1200, 1300, 1000 and a part of 1400.

If you want seclusion, then 500, the middle of 800 or 1100 (although 1100 isn't as secluded as it was before they cleared all the foliage out).

All premium sites are about even. Some sites on 1400 can barely hold a pop-up, yet they try to squeak 40' motor homes on them. They tried to stick us in the last site on the left as you leave 1400 one time, and my little 32' MH would have filled the site. There was absolutely no room for my truck & utility trailer. There are also some sites in the middle of 1400 that they've actually put parking bumpers on to prevent people from backing straight into the canal. 1400, IMO, is for the most part a worthless loop (with the exception of about 5 sites). There are a couple of sites on 500 that are literally on top of each other. No way I'd accept those sites.

Basically, all loops are good. It just depends on what your priorities are.

We were in 1333 and my sister was in 1331 last December. They were the BEST sites- right across the street from the playground... big roomy sites. We will actually request the same sites for the this December.

Are there any problems with 1300 loop flooding? on the youtube video it looked like there was quite a bit of standing water.

I haven't watched all of the loop videos, but are you saying the 1300 loop one shows standing water? Or, are you referring to standing water on other loops?

FW was built on a swamp, so depending on how much rain there has been, standing water can be found on almost all of the loops from time to time. I would say 1600-1900 have standing water the most often. But, I have seen standing water on 300, 400, 500, 1100 and 1500 frequently. Not so much on 100, 200, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000, 1200, 1300, 1400 or 2000. I would consider 1200 and 1300 to be less likely to have standing water than other loops. And, while the loops themselves may have standing water, I have never seen standing water on a campsite- they are a bit higher than the surrounding terrain.

Hope that helps.
