13 year old and kids clubs

We’ve just booked a med cruise on the Dream next May (yay!) and our daughters will be 7 and 13 1/2 when we cruise.

The little one will love the kids clubs but my eldest is feeling far from enthusiastic about Edge. I can understand that as looking at the “gallery” pics the kids all look much younger - more the bottom end of the 11-14 range (and I understand they often allow 10 year olds to “age up” to edge).

I also understand that they’ll often allow kids her age to age up to vibe with a waiver but I’m not sure about her hanging out with 17 year olds (sensible though she is)

Has anyone experience with this age girls and how they enjoyed the clubs? If it helps she’s not massively outgoing or sporty - but likes a computer game / hanging out with friends.

Well that is pretty much what the Edge is - small groups and games. Just make sure she goes the first night to Icebreakers - that is typically where the friend groups get set up.

I will be in the same situation with my girls. My youngest turns 13 while on the ship. My other is 16. My 13 year old is full of personality and would do well in Vibe. Most of her friends are 14. I don't want to push the issue though, so we will see how she feels about it closer to our cruise in April.

I have a 14 almost 15 yr old daughter and honestly our experience is it depends on if they connect with anyone in the club or a counselor. Definitely agree with the advice of going to icebreakers. If there is a cruise group/thread for your sailing you might see if anyone has a similar aged daughter you can connect with ahead of time too. Edge tends to me more of a hub where they meet and connect and then do things not just there but elsewhere in the ship too where the kids clubs are themed to be the destination and attraction.
