My daughter will be 13 when we board the ship and turn 14 2 days into our 7 night cruise. The Edge goes to age 14 and Vibe starts at age 14. Will she be allowed to go to the Vibe if she wants to (once she turns 14) or will she need to 'stay 13' for then entire cruise?

She's guessing she'll prefer the Edge better anyway so is okay if that's where she needs to stay but we wanted to check out what her options will be so we're prepared going in.

Thanks!

Your daughter will definitely be allowed in Vibe once she turns 14. She may be allowed earlier, depending on the number of teens on the ship — you can inquire with the Vibe staff after you board.

Unlike at the parks, where kids “don’t grow up,” the cruise ships deal with real time, with some flexibility at some margins (although guests turning 18 are immediately ineligible for Vibe).

You can sign a waiver so that she can attend the Vibe when she is still 13. Just like you can sign a waiver that 10 year olds can go Edge. We did this on our last cruise when I DS was 10.

In my experience, some kids who turn 14 on the cruise then prefer to stay in Edge with friends they have made, rather than moving up and being new to the group. Depending on her personality, she may prefer to remain the oldest in Edge rather than the youngest in Vibe. She can also choose to attend specific programming in both spaces. Children can attend both Edge and Vibe until they turn 15.

Just found this thread while researching what happens when your child has a birthday on the cruise. My DS turns 15 two days into our Wonder cruise in June. DD is 13, so she will be in Edge. DS is shy and will not go to Vibe on his own. When he turns 15, will he no longer be able to go to Edge for the rest of the cruise or will they let him stay because he started there?

Unfortunately, teens cannot go to Edge during secure (that if, not Open House) hours once they turn 15, even if that is in the middle of a cruise. It is possible, though not guaranteed, that your daughter could go to Vibe with your son.

I was afraid of that - thank you. How do I find out if she can go with him to Vibe? Ask during Open House on Embarkation day?

My daughter was 13 (turned 14 day 3) of our cruise in Feb. I was able to sign a waiver for her. My understanding was that at 13, children can go to the Vibe if parents sign the waiver. I would recommend asking.

It’s hard when your child is in the shyer side. My dd did not end up going to either Edge or vibe much as she’s not one to make the first contact. It will be great if your kids can go together!

I sent a message to Disney and got a response this morning. They said that DS may go to Edge until his birthday, and then he has to switch to Vibe. She also mentioned what you had said about 13 year olds. She said if we were ok with it, we could sign a waiver and they could both go to Vibe for the entire cruise.
