Hello everyone,

Back on these boards to start planning again...

Feeling a bit overwhelmed as so much has changed since I last went to Disney in 2012. So far, we have stayed off-site, stayed in Pop century and in Port Orleans. We also visited Disneyland.

My dad has just asked me to plan a trip for the family, he pays, BUT he wants to go for New Years.
This is very last minute.

I am worried our options will be limited... There is 13 of us!!! Grandpa and grandma, my sister and her 9 yrs old and 11 yrs old, my sister and her husband with their 7 yrs old and 9 yrs old, and finally me with my hubbie and 18 yrs old and 9 yrs old.

We will stay 5 nights, 6 days. If we had it like my dad wished, we'd all be in a room Together. Any on-site hotels have rooms big enough? Alternatively, we need 4 rooms. My dad loved the Port Orleans because of the transfers by boat, but I am not sure that's an option here. I 'd like to bring back suggestions that aren't too expensive.

We will take the regular dining plan.

Any resort you'd recommend? Thank you!!!!

Isabelle

You're too late to the game for a Grand Villa, and GVs only sleep 12 anyway, so you'd still need multiple rooms.

I think the only place you could manage to fit 13 are in some of the $uites at Contemporary and Poly, and I suspect they're already booked. Plus, you want suggestions that "aren't too expensive." The King Kamehameha Suite is the very definition of expensive.

For a group that large to stay together, you need to stay off-site, especially planning on less than 6 months notice.

I would also be wary of the Dining Plan, especially if you want to try to book Table Service meals for 13. While there can be openings to book even within 180, for a group that size you will be challenged to use all your TS allotments.

I would also suggest Art of Animation. They have suites there. I would book ASAP and see what is available, if anything. Christmas and New Years are very popular. Good luck.

You are very late to be planning for a group that large during the busiest week of the year.
You need to go on line and LOOK ASAP for what maybe available. You can not be picky.
I agree about the dining plan. It is very likely that you will be unable to make TS ADR's for 13 at this point.
Again, go online and look at the restaurants and time you would like and see if anything is available. You can book dining ADR's even without room reservations at this point.

You could probably do 2 2 Bedroom Villas at SSR, they always seem to have open rooms, but I've never attempted to book around NYE.

Also gets you boat transportation like POR.

Request Grandstands for ease of transportation to everywhere.
Request Congress Park for ease of entry to Disney Springs Marketplace side.
Request The Springs to be closest to the lobby and main pool but the most likely to have to wait for bus transportation especially at peak times.

I just checked, SSR is completely booked out the 30th and 31st. There really is zero chance of staying on-site in a single room, or even two rooms.

o_O Wow! That's crazy! I never thought that resort could actually be 100% completely booked.....

Thank you for checking. I have managed to extend the dates a bit, but the 31st is still mandatory for my dad... so we'll likely end up in 4 rooms at a value. So we may arrive on the 30th and stay until the 6th. We'll find a way to make it work! Surprisingly, I found OK times and restaurants for the few days we are there for 13. I was glad for that!

DVC is designed to go at 98% capacity. This includes Saratoga. And NYE is popular at Saratoga -- you can walk to Disney Springs for NYE fun.
