I am sure this answer is somewhere but despite many search words I can't find it. We are going to WDW this fall and don't plan on using the dinning plan. We havea couple of kids going that fit Disney's definition of and adult but at 11 and 12 years old they will usually choose a hot dog or cheese pizza over a adult meal. What options do we have?

They can order from the kids menu. I've read many posts here from adults who say that they prefer to order from the kids menu and have never had trouble doing so.

My 12 year old is on the fence with this, sometimes he has such a big appetitie and other times he doesn't. It makes me sick looking at the cost of some of the TS meals on the adult menu knowing that he won't eat it!!!

Perfect, now if I can just talk my wife into ordering off of the kids menu so I can have more money to spend on beer everything will be good.

1) When paying OOP, anyone can order from the kids menu.
2) Many adults order from kids menu for a small meal.
3) And, Seniors do it all the time.

If you are paying OOP for your food, you can order anything you want. But as far as I know, you won't find a kid's meal with a hot dog on it (or we didn't anyway) and the pizza on a kid's meal will not be enough for a 12 y/o - they are about the size of a CD or DVD.

I have the opposite problem with my kids. DD was so happy when she turned 10 and now when we pay for the dining plan we upgrade my 8 yo DS to an adult. He isn't interested in pizza and mac n cheese, mostly because he can't have them, but he prefers most of the adult menu.

I do agree with the pp that said it probably won't fill your child up. We ordered DS a steak at Narcoosses and it was only about 4 bites, we had to feed him off of ours.

I have and 8 year old and 11 year old and am contemplating the dining plan for our trip in March. Last time we went the girls were 6 and 9 and the dining plan worked out great. This time, I would need to pay the adult price for my 11 year old, who would prefer a kids meal most of the time. I have called Disney several different times and talked to several different people and they all told me that my 11 year old would be welcome to order a "child portion" but would be charged the full price of the adult meal, even if we were not on the dp. Also I was told that for buffets I would need to pay the adult price. For example at Boma that is $33, with a possibility of a price increase for peak season as well! Has anyone else tried to order a kids buffet for a child over 10? My 11 year old is tall and looks older than 11, but eats very little and is picky on top of it.

Sorry, but buffets are priced at adult prices for kids 10 and older. I think it really stinks! My 10year old DD was able to order off the kids menus at every restaurant except Marrakesh. She is a vegetarian and wanted vegetable cous-cous and they would not serve her a child's portion so I had to pay for the adult size meal for her. IIRC it was not on the child's menu any longer.

I understand that we will have to pay full price for the buffet, were aren't looking to be dishonest but for us it would be more of an issue of what is avaialbable on each menu.
