We will be at Disneyland for my daughter's 12 year old birthday and I wanted to do something special for her on that day. We are going to Goofy's Kitchen for dinner (her idea - which we love), but I wanted to do something or get something extra special for her since the whole family is getting the vacation. She loves pluto, doesn't like princesses and is going to be 12 going on 25.

Any ideas? Something I can buy beforehand, arrange when we get there? I am absolutely hopeless when it comes to ideas. I want it to be a surprise, too. I was thinking of getting her a disney gift card, but we usually do that for all the girls (we have 3) so I want something special.

Thanks so much for any help.

Are you staying on site? If so Vacation Planning can have something delivered to the room. I did that once for DBF's bday, I had a picnic package sent up, it was sent up in a little soft sided cooler and had tons of snacks and a couple bottles of water. We still have the cooler. :)

Otherwise what about BBB or Disney 365 for a makeover? You can get her a bday card in the park, we like to get the ones that have a pin included, they are super cute. :) You could get her a lanyard and some starter pins if you think she might like pin trading.

We are staying at Paradise Pier. I like that cooler idea. I will call the hotel and ask about it.

The pin idea is another good one. I am going to do that, too.

Thanks for the ideas.

You are very welcome, I don't have the # for Vacation Planning anymore but they are the way to go. They have a ton of great ideas to chose from, I went with the cooler (it's lunch bag size really) because it was cheaper and I figured we would use the cooler after leaving DLR. I was right, we use it all the time. :) We stayed at the PPH as well. :)

We celebrated my son's birthday at Goofy's kitchen. When I made the reservation through Disney Dining, I was able to purchase a cake through them that they brought out at the end of the meal. Some of the characters came over as we were singing happy birthday to "sing" with us.

If you are staying on site, you can also arrange to have a birthday cake delivered to your room while you are out at the park. I did that another year for DH and when we came back to the room, they had set up the little table with the cake, balloons, and a signed Happy Birthday picture from Mickey. DH loved it and he had no idea I had planned the surprise :)

F! preferred seated would be a nice gift. You can even have it be a surprise. Send someone else to check in then surprise her you go to see the show.

I posted a similar question not long ago. My DD is turning 11 (also going on 25!) while we are there. She is also not into princesses, she likes Stitch. I called Disney and here's the response I got. They suggested we pick up a birthday button and they suggested we call Disney Dining to order a cake. They also suggested the place for make-overs (not BBB, the other one) but I don't think that would interest my daughter. Lastly they connected me to someone from the gift department (I think?) who e-mailed me a list of Disney-Themed Amenities. Unfortunately the list didn't include any pictures and I thought it was rather pricey for what you get. So I did a little research on my own and found a place that will deliver balloon bouquets. Their website is everydayflowers.net. I think I will order the balloons and also pick up some pins for her collection.

I hope your daughter has a magical birthday!

The other place referred to by mhalpern is Disney 365, they do "rock star" makeovers instead of Princesses and it's in DTD and not in the parks. :) Just so you know. :)

Yes mhalpern, I felt if they included photos I would have spent more too, the email just gave a list. I understand that things change all the time but seeing a general idea would have been perfect for me. :)

OP another thing you can do is have cookies & milk or choc. dipped strawberries or rice krispie treats delivered to your room. :)

What is F! preferred seats?

Great ideas everyone. Thanks so much.

Dessert seating, you pay extra for it and you have a guaranteed seat for the show. You also get a dessert box and something to drink. :)

Fantasmic dessert seating sounds like a great idea. I don't think we have ever seen it, so this will be a great surprise for everyone. I think we will do it on our last night there. That will be a great ending to a wonderful vacation. I will have to scope it all out to figure out where to check in and stuff. I am so excited. Only 7 days to go.

Studio Disney 365 sounds so cool. Our DD is too old for BBB, but this sounds like something she would really love. It looks like this will be her Disney birthday surprise.

OP thanks for posting and thanks to everyone else for the info.

I am really excited about this! :cool1:

PS: does anyone know how early you need to book into this place?
