12 pts shy for cruise...renting?

we are 12 points shy of the cruise (yes, we're borrowing all of next year's points) we want to take in may (if it's available). just me and my dh. we'll be new owners...waiting on disney's ROFR. just wondering the best way/timeframe to try to rent points for a cruise...should we check availability and book one person's cruise with points first, and then try to rent the 12 points we need if the cruise is available?

Be aware that if you try to make any changes to an existing cruise, it counts as a cancellation. They will charge you another Admin fee to add the additional people after you rent.

You really shouldn't have too much trouble finding someone who will transfer 12 points to your account - for a rental fee.

That's pretty short notice. Still waiting on the ROFR, then closing then trying to rent 12 points all before making a cruise reservation for May. I would just book cash then rent out the points. Prices for May should be pretty good still. If the points are favorable, you can always cancel your cash reservation if you can work out the details.
