12 days and counting!!!

We are off the Disney in 12 days..... I have never done trip / pre trip report but I have learned so much from this board and am so excited that this is one way to take me away from watching the minutes count down on the clock! This will be the first visit for our children. DS is 8 and DD is 5. We moved from South Africa to Canada after our son was born and now that we have done our trip back to visit family at home and a trip to Europe to meet up with DH family it is time for Disney!
I have wanted to take them to Disney ever since they were born but always debated when their age would be just perfect. I know that any age is magical but I wanted to be diaper free and not have to have 2 strollers to worry about. DS while 8 and very adventurous is on the small side too and I wanted him to be able to experience as many rides as possible so when March rolled around this year I thought that this would be the time to get the ball rolling! I am a teacher so have to go in the school holidays and DS plays competitive baseball so timing was going to be an issue. I called our travel agent in April to just discuss the options and as luck would have it the day I called she told me about the FREE dining option - she also let me know that she was going in a trip the next day and that the airfares had to be paid within 24 hours to secure the airfare and she would need the deposit for the hotel ....so in a few hours all was booked and airfares paid for!!!!!
I was so excited until my DH came home from a coaches meeting at my DS baseball team. We are going 24 - 31 August and the baseball Provincials are the 30th August.....this is the weekend that the team plays the whole year for and I was in the dog box! Stay tuned to see how everyone reacts.

Woohoo...I am right there with you! 10 days and counting for me! We are staying at Pop Century from Aug 22-30!! Gotta love that free dining! Cant wait! Where will you be staying?

Hi there,
We will be at POFQ. I thought the resort would have a little less hustle and bustle and walking for my DD who is not going to be a long distance athlete!!!
Can't wait for the free dining. I think this will give us a whole new aspect to our trip as I have booked lots of ADR'S both for the fun and the rest it should give us!

What about baseball..........well the dates were set and the airfare non-refundable so Disney wins over the Baseball provincials....coaches not happy at all and have let me know in no uncertain terms not to make that mistake next year..I smile and say "yes" but know that if I had a choice between Disney and the diamond - mickey and crew win outright....
DS is OK with missing the last weekend of baseball - this is his first year at competitive level so he does not know what he is missing - he is thrilled at the thought of going to Disney. DH is practical and says "whats done is done" and so I now have an excited family.
I let my colleagues know that we have booked our trip for the last week of the Summer holidays and figure that I will just put the thoughts of the trip at the back of my mind until mid August rolls around.......I was wrong about that. A few days later while I am getting my classroom ready for my Kindergarten children, one of my colleagues comes in and says that she heard I am going to Disney and that she is going too. She asks if I have made any plans or dinner reservations and I look at her as if she is crazy - So far in advance I say......and that began the Disney obsession.
She has done all her homework and planning and starts to tell me all her wonderful plans......I then realize that I am way behind and better get the ball rolling. She sends me a link from this board about the POFQ - and from the moment I got that link I was HOOKED!!!! I have spent every free moment reading the boards looking for information and fine tuning our holiday!
I booked our ADR's and then changed and changed and changed until there was nothing available and added in some that others had suggested......I'll post my final ADR'S soon!
