So while it seems to be an epidemic...looks like this year is LESS than last year..the media this year just doesnt have enough "shock" material so they are using this as something else to stress us about!!

The media will always spin a story to attract an audience; that the advertisers will pay for.
This virus is making its way through nursing homes and hospitals; why is c.n.n. not on top of this on an hourly basis??. Lets face it , if you can afford a disney cruise , you are a target audience for the advertisers. Any one planing to go away on vacation will search the media outlets for any scrap of information regarding the virus, thus ensuring a good exposure to the advertising in those outlets.

We were on the Dec 7 cruise, too. A friend is a CM on the ship and we were told that the first cases were reported on Sunday in Key West. If Norwalk takes 24-36 hours to incubate, well then they came with it. Viruses are everywhere, especially this time of year. We saw people who should've been home flying from the airport. Anyway, people were taken off at every port and flown home. My understanding is with a refund and a half off coupon for a future cruise. What more can Disney do, really? If Norwalk last 7 days or so, why be confined to your stateroom and be miserable? Wouldn't you feel a little better at home, in familiar surroundings and not wasting money and feeling worse about the situation at sea with possible rough seas? I'm sort of surprised that some people didn't have an inkling it was still going on. Why do you think we were delayed leaving the ship in Cozumel? We saw the Mexican doctors on the ship leaving Sessions with the ship's officers. It's easy to see how a virus can be transmitted from ship to ship in port seeing that we were there with 9 other ships that day. It's my understanding, too that most of the illness was confined to deck 8 and that vacated rooms were quarrantined and a hazmat team cleaned them after were disembarked.
BTW- we were also on the Dec 1 Wonder cruise were my husband either got food poisoning or a quick case of the flu on board. I reported it to the health center and they didn't seemed too worried because we had no diahhrea and could keep down fluids. I was told to bring him down if he "got worse". I guess they had their hands full already. We also saw hazmat teams on the Wonder when we disembarked on Dec 4.

RIDISNEYLOVER -- does your DD normally go to preschool or daycare? If not, this could simply be a case of her being exposed to new germs & people. Also, I am wondering if your pediatrician found anything in the urine culture? At 2 1/2, my DD picked up a very nasty urinary tract infection that had symptoms like you describe. Last, how about the antibiotics? Has the Dr. ruled out a reaction? If she's never taken them before, they could easily be a culprit.

Good luck & take care.
