12/6/08 Eastern ~ ***CURRENT ROSTER pg 68, post # 1007!

So, I have snuck in and printed off the cruise booklets on the color laser here at work... they are all ready... well, almost.. I forgot to put it on collate so now I have to assemble them!

I've got my ziploc baggies and labels to sort out your bracelets...

I haven't figured out what we're going to wear on embarkation day so I can't help you with identifying me -- sorry...

DRAT - I was running through a mental list of what I still need to buy, on the way to work this morning... and now I can't remember what was on the list!

40s/50s?? Say What?? :scared1: I guess I've only been to Florida when the low is, what, 80?

We just had a cold front come through yesterday, and another one coming through on Thursday - DH and I were planning on having quick serve by the pool on Saturday night, but we have thin blood (being Floridians) and we'll probably end up in the dining room!

Right now the forecast for Cape Canaveral is 69/53 on Friday and 68/57 on Saturday - we're definitely bringing a jacket for Saturday at least.

That sounds so familiar! I do all the research and logistical planning (and stressing over choices) and DH just shows up with bags packed. Then after the trip, he has the nerve to forget that I did all that planning and says something like 'what's so hard about planning a trip?' :headache:

This is EXACTLY my DH, in everything in our lives. I've picked out the Palo night, put in the dining rotation requests, did the excursion research, everything, and DH just wants to show up.

"And then I'll get to thank you for a wonderful vacation, sweetie!"

Yeah sure

I tend to be a control freak at times :rolleyes1 though so it usually works out.

Ugh, I don't know about embarkation day now either. Was going to be tank top and shorts, now with a high in the 60s it might be jeans and a t-shirt.

And I have my .txt file up so every time I have a spark of inspiration, I add to my final shopping list. :)

LOL... well, my tendency to plan trips has arisen over the dissatisfaction with previous trips where we all sit around and say 'well, what do you want to do today, I don't know, what do you want to do today'... and then half the day is gone before any decisions are made. Not to mention that we, at that point, over pay b/c we don't know the options. Still, I'd like a little input from my husband if I can narrow it down for him to a few options! (or in this case, my mom, who is coming with me on this cruise... come on, don't just say anything is fine... help me decide!)

Thanks for the weather update... I didn't think about it being chilly there on embarkation day. I'm from the San Diego area, so I get cold at anything below 70. ;) Oh I'm such a wimp.

Yep, we had a couple weekend getaways like that earlier in our relationship.

And yeah, I still try to bounce SOME things off of him...give him full information then see if he can give back anything useful. Embarkation day lunch choices, things like that.

And I have a weather-kin! ;) It's 61 here in north Orlando right now and we're freezing. I'm listening to my co-workers walk through my lab from the outside complaining about how cold it is. As long as it's sunny I hope we'll be fine..

On the weather note, does anyone know whether the pools on the ship are heated?

No matter what the temp/weather outside, it seems like the ship pools were always reading between 78 and 80 degrees, so I assume they are heated.

OMG I love my DH... he just lets me go at the planning and doesn't question a thing. Years of being together have taught him not to get in my way.

Taking a break from ironing our summer clothes. My kids tend to take things out of there dressers and if they decide not to wear them they roll it into a ball and stuff it back in.....grrr.

I have come to the conclusion that we have a ton of clothes. I am washing our regular everyday clothes and have summer clothes everywhere.

But I am making head way on what we are taking I think. I tend to over pack so I am trying to not do that this time but my hubby will say to me what if the kids spill something on that or you do ( I am know for that too). Then I second guess and pack more. I will not do laundry on my vacation.

LOL, see I don't mind laundry... it's worth it to me to do a load to not have to tote along an extra 2 suitcases... or worry about something getting dirty. We pack up Tide powder in ziploc baggies, and I use the Color Catcher sheets so I just wash everything on cold, whites and colors together. And I've got a roll of quarters and a mesh laundry basket... I'm all set.

LOL... at least it makes it in dresser! My youngest daughter (9) takes her neatly folded laundry and tosses them in a basket in her room... so, basically she's living out of a laundry basket. She says there is no room in her drawers... and you tell me you have nothing to wear?? :headache:

I am so can't focus on work today... I've mentally checked out already, and I still have three more days of work

My position is being "terminated" Dec 31 - I'm checked out completely!!

Gives me more time to sit here at work and make sure I have everything accounted for (and search for jobs! :upsidedow )

On the laundry thing, I think we'd rather pack extra stuff than do laundry. Laundry or rainforest room....

ME TOO! I have to work tomorrow then we are on our way Wednesday but having trouble focusing! I will probably be officially on vacation tomorrow! I am sure tomorrow will be a waste of the college's money! Oh well! HAHA! I will set my away messages on my email and phone, and that is probably all! :beach:

And yes, I saw the weather... but I will take the low of 55 compared to the snow and 32 degrees here!! :scared1: I am DEFINITELY excited to get out of Indiana! Winter has officially arrived! :cold:

Did you all read about the mooring lines snapping on the Wonder yesterday? I hope the gangway is all repaired by Saturday. I'd hate to board the ship from a different terminal.

Wow, no, I didn't see that until you pointed it out (I just keep refreshing our thread and haven't gone back to the main forum). It's fortunate there wasn't a serious tragedy. I hope it's repaired too... since I've never seen the Disney terminal, I've been looking forward to seeing it.. I hear it is so clean.

If anyone hears any news, please post here!

I'm so sorry about your job.... I know it's so hard - especially during the holidays (I was laid off years ago right after Thanksgiving). My DH is in danger of losing his job next month, so I really shouldn't be coming on this trip. :guilty: I'm going to try and keep my expenditures down.

Anyway, I hope you can put the stress aside during your trip, and that a new job will come up for you soon. pixiedust:

Thanks Carol :) Funny thing was, the day before we found out, DH and I talked about what we'd do if I was let go (we knew that there would be some "announcement" that day) and he said we'd go, have a great time, drink some, and land on our feet. We paid the cruise off long ago and have a nice cushion for the stateroom bill. We have savings, no mortgage (yet - we have savings now, at least!), no car payments, just student loans, ourselves, and the cats.

Luckily we've discussed things with our friends and families, and we're not doing gifts this year, and holiday parties are being reduced to minimums - maybe a board game night with homemade pizza and BYOB (we're still young, mid-late 20s :D ) - so everyone else understands and is in the same boat.

Sorry to blah blah blah real life at you guys!

I just keep looking at my "chart" and thinking...one week from right now we'll be at the margarita tasting! (if my guesses are correct ;) )

That stinks but I am glad you have a positive attitude and you will get to enjoy 7 days in heaven! :cloud9:
They are laying off at my moms job while we are actually on the ship. They said they will make the announcement on Tuesday. So... I am hoping it does not affect her! :headache: But... if it does, we will just have to get her a few extra strawberry daiquris for the night! :woohoo: So if you see a chubby short blonde woman stumbling around tuesday night being held up by her daughters please just laugh and walk on by! :lmao:
