12/6/08 Eastern ~ ***CURRENT ROSTER pg 68, post # 1007!

We just booked this today -- we rebooked a dummy date on board last month and waited for the ressies to be released today.

We're in a cat 5, room 7104. Sailing will be me and DH, DS who will be 9 1/2 and DD who will be 6 1/2. We loved our cruise last month and can't wait to go again!

Hi Joy!

I am so glad that I will be sailing with at least one fellow Geek! :)

We booked a Cat 9 - stateroom 2614 this evening. We were in 2614 for our 4 night Wonder cruise and we loved the location. I didn't feel very seasick in that area of the ship so I am hoping that will be the case on this cruise as well.

It will be DH and I, DS who will be 6 1/2 and DD who will be 3 (almost 4). Hopefully this cruise will go a little better than our last one.... :)

Looks like it is just me and you for now Joy! ;)

I was able to get main dining and that is such a relief since on our other cruises I had to worry about being on the wait list, etc.. Did you guys sign up for main dining or did you want late? I thought that you were on late on the DD cruise.

Just bumping this up....I might have to start talking to myself... ;)

A shameless bump back to the top.... ;)

I forgot to mention we're in late dining. We have had late the last 2 trips and I really like it. I can't imagine getting ready for dinner at 5 o'clock... the only problem was that we were not hungry for the Pirate night buffet or the chocolate midnight buffet.

I was pretty sure you were on late dining but I couldn't remember for sure. I suppose things could change in two years but right now I can't imagine waiting to eat until 8:00 or later with my kids.

I think it's because I was snacking all day... never really got hungry. Big breakfasts really fill me up for the day...and so we'd eat lunch really late (1-2 pm).

The kids were good and hungry too, and as soon as they ate, they were ready to go to play in the club... so DH and I could enjoy dessert and the evening.

Hi, I just paid my deposit for the Dec. 6, 2008 Eastern Cruise too:) We can't wait. We have only been on the 3 and 4 nite cruises, so this will be our 1st 7 niter. We are in connecting rooms 2102 and 2104. It will be my husband and I and our 4 children. They will be -- DD-10, DS-6, DD-4 and our baby(who I am pregnant with right now will be almost 17 months old)

We are looking forward to getting to know all of you over the next 2 years too.

Welcome Vicki!

Have either of you been to St. Thomas or St. Maarten before? I am not planning on particular excursions or anything just yet but I have started doing just a little reading on what is available that we could enjoy as a family. It sounds like there are plenty of things on both islands that would be fun for us.

Hi Becka,

I have never been to either St Maartin or St. Thomas. They sound like pretty islands though. I have looked at the excursions that they offer on the Magic and the beach ones sound kind of fun, as well as the butterfly farm. Do either of you know anything about the beaches on either of these islands?

Vicki

I have a co-worker who took a cruise last year who went to St. Thomas and she raves about Sapphire Beach. It sounds like a really beautiful place and it certainly is someplace I will have to research some more before we go. My kids love the beach so I want to do at least a 1/2 day at a beach on one of the islands other that CC. I also always thought the tram that takes you up the mountain right at the port sounded like fun and I think there is a bird show once you get to the top.

I don't know much about St. Maarten except my DH jokingly saying we should go to Orient Beach (nudity optional ). I have heard about the butterfly farm and I think they have a small Sea World type place there as well. I seem to remember some trip reports that mentioned it.

I am quite excited about taking an Eastern. Our last cruise was the Dec double dip and it was a Western. We really wanted an Eastern last time but the idea of two stops at CC was just too much to pass up.

I will have to look into Sapphire Beach. My kids love the beach too and we always spend all day at Castaway Cay. I love CC and I imagine that going on a DD to CC was really awesome. We were trying to decide whether or not to do a DD to Castaway Cay in 2008 or an Eastern and decided to do an Eastern. We are really excited about it!

I don't know too much about the Butterfly farm and will have to look into it some more too, as well as the Seaworld type area. My kids might enjoy that too. I have heard that Orient Beach is a nice beach too, but since it is clothing optional :rolleyes1, I will have to think about that one.

Vicki

Yes - my DS already hates to wear clothes. If I take him to a beach and others are not wearing anything I may get lots of whining about why he has to wear swim trunks. :rotfl:

I guess that one would be hard to explain to your DS :) Have you ever heard anything about Margen Bay Beach(sp?) at St. Thomas. I know DCL offers this as an excursion, and the Passporter book rates this excursion pretty positive. At least we have some time to think about it :hourglass

Hi Vicki! Nice to meet you!

I looked at excursions too.. not sure what we'll do, but my DH is also interested in Orient Beach....lol... not sure I'd have the nerve but I have 2 years to see if my body will be view-worthy, hehe.... With casinos on one side and the beaches on the other, we'll most likely leave the kids in the club that day.....

I'm going to start tracking people in the first post of this thread... Disname, real name, cruisers & kids ages

What is it with DH's and Orient Beach? :confused3 :rolleyes1

I am not sure if I could leave my kids in the clubs while we got off. I know lots of people do it but I think I would be so afraid of missing the boat or something that I wouldn't really enjoy myself. I figure if we do a beach day in St. Thomas and the of course CC will be a beach day that 2 beach days are enough and we can find non-beach entertainment in St. Maarten. ;)
