12-3-09 December 3, 2009 3 nite WONDER

Golly I am blushing Denise! We are busily preparing Chateau Lara-Gagne for our guests. :thumbsup2 Our home is small but we offer great perks!:happytv:

Drive fast! I have a few ideas about the weekend - I may take the whistle and clipboard for awhile.....:bride:

Disneyland: all day Saturday rumor has it the Dragon may actually be back in Fantasmic - DCA Sunday PM? You haven't seen the new additions to the ELP. Monday catch what we missed?

pluto::tigger:

What excursion/adventure would you recommend as a do not miss opportunity for a first time Cruiser?

:dance3:

I have a few cruise designs if you want to look through them. Are those the Home Depot paint chips on your door Donna? I like the way you put ribbons through them, that is a crafy idea. :) Like you, we are going to WDW after the cruise. We are splitting Shades of Green and AKL. Awesome Military deals this year and we are taking full advantage. :woohoo:

Yes they are the Home Depot paint chips.

Are you going to MVMCP? We haven't decided if we are going to do it on Sunday 12/6 or Tuesday, 12/8. I want to get my Candlelight Processional Dinner Pkg reserved first. We are hoping to reserve Rose and Crown for that night.

What we do--

Hubby is a lawyer at a big firm in Texas. He does ERISA work. He works a lot of hours and is constantly using his blackberry so a cruise is perfect when he doesn't have cell phone reception. If they need him, it costs them money to call :cool1:.

I'm a stay at home mom to my two kids (ages 3 and 9 months). I quit my job as a probation officer when my first son was born almost 4 years ago. I call this my retirement.

I bought fabric today for our pirate costumes. I spent a lot but it is going to be fun. I also spent over $60 at jiffyshirts.com to have shirts for my boys each day of the vacation.

I've also started thinking about my FE gifts. Any idea how many are signed up so far?

Wow! Its really great getting to know everyone better.

DH and I usually dress up for pirate's night but probably won't this time. But I love looking at everyone that does.

As far as the FE signup, you should have the current list. Princess Yessenia was the last one on it. As soon as Brad and his group can PM me with their emails and additional info, I will send the updated spreadsheet to everyone on the list. When do you think the cutoff date for signing up should be?

More questions please bear with me:

How do I request someone to be a friend?
How do I send a PM?

This site is not easy to navigate and there are rules that don't become evident until you try to do something.

I don't know about the adding someone as a friend, but to send someone a personal message, just click on their user name and from the dropdown list click send personal message and follow form from there. hope that helps!!

Hey All! I've updated and sent out the spreadsheet to all who have responded.

Christina--I hope I have the correct email for you.

Brad--I'm jealous!!! Over a thousand visits to Disney Parks. I'm assuming most of those are at Disneyland but what other parks have you been to? I would like to go to DL Paris someday. Starting to plan a trip to DL/CA early next June and then driving on up through Sequoia and Yosemite National Park to Idaho where my DD is living now. Would welcome any suggestions, tips, etc.

Did any repeat cruisers make their reservations for Palo, shore excursions or the spa today? I made a reservation for Palo at 7:30 p.m. on the first night. Yippee!!!! I hope it is the night we would have been in Triton's as that is my least favorite menu.

Have a good weekend everyone!

We have Palo the first night at 7:30 as well. I'm so excited and we are getting so close.

I was a Kid of the Kingdom at Walt Disney World the year they were finishing EPCOT. Back in the day you couldn't get any more important than being a KOTK. The only star bigger was Mickey. You could only contract for a year then...ahh a few years later I coulda been a backstreet boy, heavy sigh. Disney was poor then and oddly I didn't go to the park when I wasn't working. We did 3 shows a day in front of the Castle and 2 Parades I am a native Floridian so I have been going to WDW Since it opened. I only became a DLR fan when I met Donny. We have been pass holders for 6 years and don't live far away. During the years up to the 50th and after we averaged almost 100 visits a year at Disneyland but always did 2 or 3 trips a year to WDW.

The tentative plan for now is this trip for Denise's 50. In 2 years DLRP for Scuba Steve's 50th (he's the Steve on this trip) In 2 more years Tokyo for my 50th. Of course if we can sell our house in FL we may sneak a trip to Paris sooner

:cool1:

Well, it sounds like a bunch of fun. I know we will have some great times to remember on this trip. I definitely think we have to try and get a group picture during this trip. I can't wait for it to get here with everything that has happened here at home. Tyler just got home from a 2 wk stay in the hospital so now we have to acclimate him to the changes that have gone on.

So please bear with me if I seem anxious for a RELAXING time. I probably won't do any paid excursions and unfortunately no spa time(even though I NEED it) either as I won't be able to afford them. I am just lucky to go on this trip. So will see how things go.

Here is a GTKY question.

WOW!!!!!! :banana::banana:

I checked into applying for a seasonal position when we were at WDW in May. I would like to work there next winter--mid-Feb through mid-April. It has always been a dream of mine to work at WDW and now that my kids are grown and out of the house, I'm going to give it a shot. I can't start until Feb. though as I have to get all the paperwork from our farming operation ready for our CPA to do our income taxes. My DH is very supportive of me and my dream. I plan to reapply in December/January but am not really expecting to get hired as I was told in May that seasonal positions are hard to get right now. So Brad, you are now my IDOL!!!!! :woohoo:

Oh my gosh, Mary! Two weeks??? Is he okay now??? You have had a rough time. Here is a :grouphug: and some pixiedust:

We're not doing any shore excursions this time either except maybe rent a bike or float at Castaway Cay. Plan on just getting off to do a little shopping in Nassau--mainly Hard Rock Cafe. Last time we walked to Fort Fincastle and the Queen's Staircase which was pretty neat.

Being a massage therapist, it is really hard for me to pay the prices for massages and spa treatments on a cruise although we did splurge last time on a couples' massage. Just getting away is relaxing enough for me too!!!! :goodvibes

My favorite Disney memory...two things actually come to mind.

1. In the early 90s, when the Magic Kingdom was usually open until midnight or 1 a.m., my DD and I would stay until the very last minute. DH and DS would always poop out and head back to the resort early. DD and I would ride BTMR over and over. It was so magical walking through Frontierland with hardly anyone else around.

2. Once DH and I were the very first ones to ride Splash Mountain in the morning. We were the only ones in the log and they took our picture and gave it to us. Then the CM walked us over to BTMR and let us ride it without waiting. We even got to choose where we wanted to sit which was in the back, of course. Then he let us ride a second time!!!!!

I think we are, but I haven't even started looking at all of that yet. I guess I should get moving soon or all of the tickets will be sold out. How far in advance can we book?

Mousebrat.. I am almost done with your designs. Thanks for being so patient! :) I can't believe you are going to make your Pirate outfits! I'm crafty, but not THAT crafty. If you can, post pics when you are done. I would love to see them. :goodvibes

What if you were able to design one Magnet for each family that is doing the FE and put a design that deals with the DisBoards Family Fish Exchange Member on it. Then we can put it on our doors so we all know where exactly what we are doing incase some of us forget to write down the room #s we are all in.

Hello all!!! Hope everyone had a great Labor Day! We did here, just relaxed and took it easy. The girls haven't been feeling to good lately, something must be in bloom that is killing their allergies!! going to go finish picking up stuff I need for the cruise at the end of the wk :cool1:

It would be neat to have a door magnet design for our DIS Winter Wonder Cruise. If millipie could design it :), we could all print it off. However, using them as a marker for FE probably wouldn't work as it would take forever to walk each deck looking for the rooms with the FE magnet. Mary--I will try to print off a few extra copies of our FE/Meet spreadsheet and bring them to the meet on the first day. Speaking of that, what time is everyone getting to the port? Perhaps we could meet in the terminal about 11 a.m. before boarding instead of the Promenade Lounge at 3 p.m. :confused3 What would work best for everyone?

Lisa, I hope your girls get to feeling better. We just relaxed around here too. Saturday was rainy and Sunday was cloudy but yesterday was pretty. We went to see UP this weekend. It was a cute Disney movie! I also worked on my FE and FE gifts.

Should we make a cutoff date to sign up for the FE so we can have a final count for our FE exchange? I was thinking November 3rd--one month before our cruise--so we have time to finish making or buying our gifts before Thanksgiving. Does that sound okay?

Have a great week everyone! :dance3:

I haven't been on here much so I am a little late in answering the questions.

My DH is a farmer (corn, soybeans, alfalfa, cattle) and also an auctioneer (real estate, personal property--estates, collectibles, household, etc) and a realtor. I am a part-time church secretary. I also do all the advertising and bookwork for the auctions and act as cashier on auction day. And I have my real estate license, too. So we are crazy busy all the time. Didn't get any vacation this summer so we are looking forward to the cruise.

We have been on two other Disney cruises but I had never been to Palo--so I made our reservations for the last night, at 7 o'clock I think. So that will be something new and different!

Considering a Blue Lagoon dolphin encounter for my DD (13) at Nassau. Anyone ever done that? I'm thinking this excursion is new, possibly? Otherwise I'm just losing my mind because I don't remember it from our previous cruises.

Hopefully I'll be checking in more often! Enjoy all the planning! :goodvibes

Hello everyone!!!

Donna-This is just my opinion, but whatever you all decide is fine. As for the meet n greet, for me it would be easier to do it at 3 instead of 11 at the terminal. With kids and crowds, it will be mayhem with my group lol. Like I said though, whatever you all decide is ok with me.

I think a cool design for our cruise group would be great, and you're right using it to determine who is in our cruise group would take forever!!!

I was just wondering what to do for the FE gifts if I got all of them done and then a bunch more joined in..so a cut off date does sound good!!

Oh ya...as for the best memory of Disney....I havent been to WDW yet, but plan on going sometime. We had originally planned to go this spring with the income tax return, but had to postpone that. I am going to have to look into getting a new vehicle and we need a few other things. Funds don't go as far as they used to anymore lol.

Lisa

I won't get to the port til almost boarding time as we are doing WDW first. But I will definitely be at the 3pm meet.
