12/29/07 Western - New Year's Eve

:thumbsup2 Hello again everyone! Just back from our WDW (Old Key West) and Vero Beach trip. Boy, the parks were so busy - worse than the week after X-Mas this year. Glad I am cruising in December :thumbsup2

Wow, I have heard they were busy!! Hope you guys still had a great time!!

Happy Easter to you all!!

Noel

I hope you still had fun at the parks! Did you get to do everything you wanted?

Happy Easter!

Kate & Mikayla

We are very lucky and have been there MANY times and have Annual Passports. We always have a great time - especially by the pool. For the most part if you got there when they opened you could do some rides, but it was the worse I've ever seen it and I've been going since 1972!!!!! I just felt sorry for people that came for their one and only trip.

People should know that if they travel ANYWHERE during Spring Break everything will be crowded. My youngest DD went on the Carnival Pride over Spring Break with 45 other University friends. No thanks for me cruising on Spring Break on Carnival!!

Today is a rainy day!! Sure does make me wish that December would come faster!!

They are forcasting snow tonight in central Illinois - Chicago has been hit all day. Wish I was back at Vero :)

They are promising we will see spring again by May here.

Say, does anyone know if the Christmas decorations will still be up for our trip?

I understand they hold the New Years Eve party in the atrium (where the Christmas tree resides), so I would think not.

My MIL was told by a DCL person, that the decorations will be up from Christmas, that they come down -- i believe -- the day we get back in (Jan 5th) .

Too kewl!! We are celebrating my DSIL's 40th bday the day we sail!!

Oh, that is so cool!! We were originally supposed to cruise later in Jan, for my dd's 7th bday (the day we would have left would have been her bday), so i will admit, i was a bit bummed when we changed dates, but, on the other hand i was happy b/c it bumped up our vacation by about 3 weeks, and now we will get to be there for NYE.. So, it was mixed emotions.. and, this way, my dd will miss only 3 days of school ( i think) vs the other way she would have missed 5.. So, it all worked out.

Maybe you should have an "early" birthday party on board???

Ya, I had thought about it.. I am definately going to order my dd a basket and have it delivered by Shirley.. I am compiling a list of things to add in the basket..
We'll see..

I am not sure what we are going to do either as we will be in WDW the week before celebrating Xmas and three other birthdays!!

Spring Break on the Magic wasn't so bad last year (with Cirque the night before we left).

Anyway, just thought I would say hi to everyone. The question about the decorations at WDW made me think. Our plan is to hit MGM for the Osbourne lights the night before the cruise. On the 5th, it will be off the ship and on to the plane to go back to the sunny and warm state of Michigan ;)

(And just for the record my kids and I had a snowball fight yesterday)

Now off to file taxes...

I know.. doesn't this weather suck for April??! We got that nasty wind/rain noreaster storm yesterday and today -- there is all kinds of damage, trees down, power out, etc.. Great day for me and my dd to head off to the mall to Dave & Busters and Build A Bear.. LOL

We are going to spend the week at the Dolphin. Any suggestions as to what should not be missed?

Noel

Same thing down here with the Nor'Easter. Lots of roads still flooded. It looked for awhile like we were going to lose power, but after a few intermittent black outs, we were ok.

Noel, if you are going to WDW at Christmas for the first time, the lights at MGM are a definite don't miss. There are also some great displays at EPCOT on the walkway between Future World and World Showcase. All the parks have a Christmas tree (totally artifical, but still good looking). For a low stress activity, try eating (or just visiting) at different hotels, as each is decorated with an appropriate tree and theme ( I seem to remember Beach club having a Little Mermaid theme).

We had rain on Saturday but yesterday and today are sunny. I am sure we are going to have drought conditions this summer with our lack of rain this winter.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I know the parks like DL here in California will be jammed but we want to be sure we don't miss the special things that WDW does at Xmas time for the GK's age group.

Hope your weather gets better!! We had rain on Saturday but are back to sunshine though a bit windy and chilly.
