12/29/07 Western - New Year's Eve

Just back from our Sunday night DIS meet at the Grand Californian. We flew down and met 40 persons who will be on our WB Panama Canal cruise for dinner. We also stayed at the Grand Californian Hotel where Johnny Depp was also staying for the POC premier. Security was way too tight to get near the suites where he was staying but we saw lots of celebs coming and going from the two suites where he was holding open house.

My daughter can't wait to see the 3rd Pirates. I made her help me clean the house today so I'll probably take her tomorrow. She would have loved to be there when Johnny Depp was there. She was trying to figure out a way to get to Disney for the premiere-she didn't understand that you just can get there early and buy tickets.

Congrats to your daughter for her graduation.

Still haven't seen the 3rd POC as been busy trying to get DD moved back to Northern California!!

All caught up finally with the DIS board postings.

Samantha is all packed up, condo cleaned and she is on her way north. John and I spent the day with her yesterday before she drove to Los Angeles to spend the weekend with her friend who is doing an internship there. She is picking up another friend from USC and they will be driving home on Monday.'

Her ML320 was so full she had to buy a car carrier for the top!!

More later on the graduation saga when we get home and recover!!

Back from our 3 night cruise and Hilton Head adventure - both were wonderful. Didn't get to go to Castaway Cay because of tropical depression (now I know why they call it a depression ) but still had a wonderful time and are really looking forward to the cruise in December. Hilton Head was great and we are already planning next year's trip. Everyone have a great week

Haven't been online much as I have been diagnosed with acute cholecystitis which is inflammation of the gall bladder caused by gall stones.

Next appointment is with a surgeon prior to scheduling removal of my gall bladder.

My middle DD had this same surgery 9 years ago so I have some idea of what to expect.

For now, I am resting and taking it easy. I am glad that this happened so far away from the trip but haven't had the energy to do much else but rest.

Hope to have all of this over and done in a few weeks.

I always like to look at the bright side - at least you didn't get sick on the cruise. My dad always says "it will feel better when it stops hurting".

I sure am looking forward to feeling better!! I too am glad that this did not happen on the cruise.

Latest news is I am meeting with surgeon on Tuesday afternoon She is also a fellow Stanford grad.

Noel checking in for a quick post on what is happening in our lives.

I haven't been posting but have been reading. I saw my surgeon yesterday and had an EKG in preparation for the surgery. Since gall bladder surgery is not an emergency at this point (not having an attack now) but elective, I have to wait until the cardiologist reads my EKG before I can schedule the surgery. Not much energy and having to eat an extremely bland diet is not fun!!

My DD's husband still has health issues and now there is some concern about his kidney function which is ruining their summer. GS made the All Star Team in Brentwood and we are very proud.

Last but not least, Cheryl (sister) called and said pipes must have froze and burst in laundry room at house in Lake Almanor so had to call a plumber. She forgot to turn water on lawn in May so lawn is dead. Sigh....hope I feel well enough this summer to go up and get yard cleaned up.

Off to WONDERFUL Door County, Wi, next week after a visit to both of our hometowns to see our parents.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I can make the brunch reservations now for up to 15 adults for the private room. Anyone who is interested needs to send me their full names and stateroom numbers and I can add to the list. We will not know for sure until about 30 days before the cruise.

Don't know about all the events yet but assume we can go by previous NYE cruises for a basic primer.

I am hoping to put together at least one group of 15 adults (including DH, DD and DSIL) for a private room brunch in Palo.
