12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

Hmmm... "Winter 'Wonder' _________"? Maybe too cliche. My five year old wants to know if Santa will be able to find us. I told him that Santa knows everything, who's been naughty and nice and who is spending Christmas on a cruise ship. I pointed out the two giant "chimneys" on the boat.

Hey, is anybody else curious what we all look like? Here is a rare photo of me (on vacation of course). There are so few of them in existance that I have to save them, else my kids one day think they were hatched from alien pods. Brenda, no gym time for this kid. I am still working the "just had a baby" explanation for all it's worth. She'll be a few days shy of 2 on the cruise. Think I can still pull off that excuse in December?

Adrianna, you are beautiful. And your children are adorable!

Here are the twins,Lindsey and Michael. Formal night on the Rhapsody Of the Seas.Nov. 2006

Lindsey and her best friend Jolene in front of the fountain on 2nd formal night. We may be bringing Jo with us. Haven't decided for sure yet.

Michael on his way to the beach for some jet ski fun with his brother.

Lindsey's movie star shot...:rotfl2: We were taking Lindsey and Jolene to ride the dolphins. It was the twins 14th birthday that day, and Jo's was the day before we left for the cruise. The dophin swim was our birthday gift to the girls.

I was going to leave our pic out. I don't like most of my pics, but I'll suck it up and post one.

Brenda-

I can't believe how much Lindsey looks like Valerie! But there must be like 10 years between them, right? I would say those smiles were the result of some pricey orthodontics, but the smile is all yours, so maybe just natural beauty. It is so interesting the way that children look more like one parent over the other. My son looks more like me and my daughter more like my husband. It's a good thing she does, because her hair becomes redder by the day and neither of us have any red headed relatives. :confused3 Sometimes you just get a genetic surprise, I suppose.

Ooooh, I am getting so excited for this cruise! I just can't wait 8 more months! I guess I must.

Take care,
Adrianna

I have to upload some new pics the old ones are us covered in snow! Here is a snow one for now. We are at the top of a mountain in Banff while dh was taking the picture! We told ds5 that Santa is coming to our house while we are gone and they can open their Santa presents when they get home. They get to open the other ones before we leave:goodvibes

December 24-28/2008 The Winter Wonder Christmas Candy Cane Cruise

Ok please modify if it is too corny or you have something cool to add

Does anyone want to do the fish extenders? Being that it is Christmas it would be kind of neat. Little things though nothing over 5 bucks??

FE's sound like a lot of fun. Especially on a Christmas Cruise. Especially since it seems that our four families will have the run of the boat. We'll probably get more joiners as we get closer to the cruise.

Our little boys will have to meet. It would be good for him to have a buddy in the Club. Mine turns 6 in January. Love the pic. I really miss the snow. I was just telling my husband tonight that distance in time seems to make certain memories all the more fonder. Like digging 2 feet of snow out of the driveway.

How 'bout Winter 'Wonder' Candy Cane Christmas Cruise? I like the way it rolls off the tongue.

Both girls look exactly like I did at that age. Upon seeing a picture of me when I was 21,Lindsey blurts out"( with a horrified look on her face) does this mean I'm going to look like Mom when I get old?":rotfl2: The only difference
was our hair color. I had very dark brown, almost black hair. Val was light blonde till she was in her early 20's, then it turned light brown. Lindsey has always had a medium, reddish brown.

There is 12 years difference between Valerie and the twins. And yes, Lindsey's smile is the result of pricey orthodontics. Valerie and Michael's are all natural. The only two of the five kids that didn't need braces.

Michael looks like me, but has his my DH's hair and forehead. We were lucky on the red hair gene. My father, and Dale's mother were redheads. None of our children have red hair. Just a few reddish highlights.

Annette, Great picture. I love the little ones hat! I long for snow sometimes. It doesn't snow much in SW Oklahoma. :sad1: The weather man kept forecasting snow this winter, but we never got a thing. The last time we had a white Christmas, we were in WDW in 2000!:lmao:

Speaking of winter."Winter Wonder Christmas Candy Cane Cruise"I like it.:thumbsup2 Good job girls. If Courtney likes it too, I say we have our name.

Ok, So what is the deal with " Fish extenders? I have seen posts about them, but must admit, I haven't read them. I know they are over the door hangers, but that's about it.
Oh, Guess I can read the thread huh:rotfl2:

Enjoy your Sunday ladies.

Oh definitely!!! Bradley turns 6 on December 8 so they are very close in age. It will be very good to have a friend to look forward to!!!!

LOVE LOVE:lovestruc how you rolled it all together for the name of the cruise. I really like adrianna_sarah's title!!

Any other suggestions for a cruise name?

Good morning to you Annette. Started off cold here this morning. 47 F. High in the 80's this afternoon though. :cool1: Think I'll prune some more rose bushes when I get back from the gym. Have a great day everyone!

Courtney, did you guys get any of those nasty storms earlier this week? It looked pretty bad in your area. Thankfully, for us, they stayed south of the Red River.

OMG did we ever!! :scared1: Right by my house. :scared:
One of the girls I work with had it worse. Her fence is gone and her swing set was down the street. Heard the "train" and all. The previous week we saw some more. Got even closer to my neck of the woods and affected several people in our Scout troop. Crazy stuff. I hate it when they come at night. At 3 am I was thinking about where I could move that there weren't any tornadoes. Glad to see you are back.

Would be nice to have the run of the boat ourselves, wouldn't it? PARTY!!:woohoo: Perhaps more will join. Sad for them if they don't even know it exists.

Okay....so about the FE's. I went to the link and only looked at the last 2 pages due to time (perhaps I'll go to first one to understand more) but....WHAT IS IT??
One problem....I don't sew. I can suture any of you up (operating room RN surgical assistant) and cross stitch, but nothing else. Sounds like a great idea though.

As for the name...how about dropping the cane? Winter 'Wonder' Candy Christmas Cruise or Winter 'Wonder'ful Christmas Cruise

I might be able to come up with more that include something Bahamian....

Well as far as I understand you hang them by your door on the metal fish. They have pockets on them usually 3-4. Every day you exchange small items with whoever is on your cruise/thread and pop them into the pouches as a surprise. Kind of like a Secret Santa thing. Each day when you come back to your cabin you will find something new in your extender. Some examples are magnets, pins, stuff local to your area, recipies, postcards just little things. I cannot sew so I am ordering mine from a lady on ebay who makes them for a lot of dissers. Her ebay username is gradysmom. She just left on a trip to Hawaii so I will give her a shout when she gets back!

The cruise name suggestions are sounding great!

Not to change the subject but Our oldest DD is a scrub tech! Due to their being to many techs and not enough full time positions here, among other roadblocks, she chose to not scrub anymore, and is managing a convience store. I told her she needs to move to a bigger city, but she is a mamma and daddy's girl and refuses to move further than OKC:confused3 She wants to go back to school and become a surgical RN,but is waiting till the children are old enough not to need day care anymore.

Ok, back on topic.:rotfl2: I'm so glad you are safe. I love a good severe storm, but not in the dark. I enjoy sitting on our front porch watching them roll across the sky,but they get to close, and I'm headed for the safe room.

I don't sew either, but it doesn't look hard. I wouldn't do it by hand though. Maybe we could use stitch witchery. It looks like interfacing, but you put it between two pieces of fabric, iron and it fuses them. Not sure if it would be strong enough for anything heavy, but it could work. Course buying them from the lady on ebay is an option.

Funny you should think of Wonder ful Christmas Cruise. That was the name of the first cruise meet thread I started. It fell off into the abyss long before they started listing cruises by year.:rotfl: When I started this one, I just put down the date.

Hey brendalee59 we almost moved to OK a while back! Dh got a job offer in Duncan!!!

Well, I wish you had. Duncan is less than 20 miles east of my house. Probably 35 from Adrianna's. How would that be for a cruise meet? Three of four families in the same area:lmao: Let me guess, Haliburton? :thumbsup2

Actually no it was Stimlab! What is Duncan like? Talk about a cruise meet huh!:cool1:

Hey Brenda when are ya gonna blend all our ideas and come up with a cruise name?;)

Never heard of Stimlab. What do they do? I assumed Haliburton because it is the # one employer in the area. Duncan is a small to medium size town. Not a city, but not a one horse town either. No big shopping malls,or anything like that. It's close enough to Lawton ( 27 miles)where there is a mall. Not a huge one mind you. But a mall. It's a quaint older town. They have some beautiful homes on large wooded lots. Makes you feel secluded, yet you are inside city limits, with neighbors on either side of you. I still have some cousins living over there. My uncle retired from the Duncan police force several years ago.
Heck, I thought we were going to vote on what ya'll came up with:confused 3 Lord knows I have zero creative talent:rotfl2:
