12/24/08 Christmas Cruise on the Wonder

Well, I've had such an easy time getting my ADRs this week, so I decided to be a renegade. Wake up at a normal time, eat breakfast, drink coffee... call WDW-DINE at my leisure. When I called to get my Fantasmic Package this morning, I had precisly one option. 3:50 at Mama Melrose's, take it or leave it. Luckily this was close enough to the 4:00 time that I wanted anyway!

So here were are kids. As of about 9:00 AM Central Time 180 days from now, Fantasmic Dinner Package is sold out and I've learned my lesson about getting cocky with the Disney Dining gods.

Well today is my 42 birthday! You know what that means? I now have all the answers to everything in life:rotfl2: :lmao: Do you remember "The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy" . We after 7 and half million years of thought the answer to everything in life is 42. Well that number has a lot to live up to so here is a toast to the best 12 months ever!

Happy Birthday to you!
You are 42!
Get drunk as a skunk-y!
And toss me one, too!

That will teach ya:rotfl2: We got all our adr's too thanks to concierge or else we would have never got CRT otherwise. Have to do it once!

You know I cannot even remember the last time I got "drunk" It has been so many years I cannot even remember. Don't get me wrong I have been close... but not drunk:rotfl2: I will definitely have a few tonight though thanks for the well wishes adrianna_sarah and three more days for you too eh! How exciting!:goodvibes

Seems like we have a lot of June Birthdays.

Didnt make it by the arena today due to some work related stuff. Plan on going by Sunday (while they try to persuade me to renew my season tickets... good luck with that with what I am going to have to pay for childcare:thumbsup2 )

You have no idea how close my family is to my donor's family. It's like we have known each other forever. Her husband and I will show up for hockey games and see that we have worn the same outfit. Hat, jersey, etc. It's scary at times.

We're heading over to their house tomorrow night for dinner. They think it is just dinner but what they dont know is we are telling them of our little guy's name (which partly honors her). :ssst: Of course they could say no thanks and thus we begin the painful process on deciding on a name again...

Andy, I also read your story. What an amazing gift of life! Thank you for sharing your story with us.

WOW, that was cutting it close.:rotfl2: So glad you got one. :thumbsup2

I can remember the last time I got drunk as a skunk-y. It was at a wedding two and a half years ago.

Scott and I did our pre-marital counseling with an Army Chaplain up at Fort Lewis who pointed out that drinking is part of our military culture and heritage. That's probably as close as from God's mounth to my ears as I'm ever going to get, so I'm running with it.

Ok, I'm gonna show my lack of language skills. I checked out the menu on allears. I must say,How do you know for sure what you are ordering? I mean, the menu is mostly in Italian:confused3 :rotfl2:

Gotta come from an Italian family I guess. I can read most of the menu even if it was in all Italian. DH is half Italian, although he looks more like the half German that he is. It's in me too but more diluted than his. Growing up my dad would say stuff every once in a while, kinda like Tex-Mex or Spanglish, except it was English and some other language I didn't know. Come to find out, all this time he was speaking a little Italian to me!!! Courtesy of Grandma.

I started self teaching Italian a while ago but I can never sit down and do it besides I only know one person that I can speak it to who can check my pronunciation. And I hardly ever see that person if ever. Thinking of getting Rosetta Stone for me and the family. DD is taking German in school so I guess we will start with German.

First of all,
Happy Birthday my PIC!!! That's partner in crime, y'all. Hope it was a good one.

Second,
Adrianna, I am glad you got your ressies just in time. BTW, Brenda, what is CRT? I'm still learning all these acronyms.....Wait.....Is it Cinderella's Royal Table?

Third,
Can't wait to see the tat Annette. I bet it is way cool. As for the koozies....what does LGMPH mean? Sorry...brain not functioning fully today.

Fourth,
Andy, I am so glad that the gift of life has been blessed upon you. I read your story and had goosebumps on and off throughout the entire thing. There have been WAY too many times in my life that I have been involved in harvesting organs from an unfortunately not-live donor. In seven years of being an OR nurse, most of them have been children. :( I have been the nurse to help out with kidney transplants quite a few times as well. It is really quite a neat surgery. It is such a blessing that you found a non-related match. God certainly works in mysterious ways. To think that our discussion boards could be that powerful. I chuckled at how you and Brandi show up wearing the same shirt. I believe in that whole organ-personality trait thing you hear about.

I have signed up to be a donor a long time ago and shared it with my family. There is even a sticker on my license and it is registered with the state as well. If any of you guys are interested, you should check it out and let your family know. There is also a bone marrow registry which I think is separate. They have it at the same time when they do a blood drive at my hospital. For those that don't know, bone marrow transplants are when someone has cancer. Usually BMT are the last ditch effort for recovery. Shortly after I registered, I matched with someone and went through the testing process. I was a close enough donor but they decided not to do a BMT at that time. Kinda sad. Kid was 21 years old. Hope he didn't give up.

Again, congratulations Andy. I know you have found a friend for life. And I am already crying about you telling Brandi your son's name. That is awesome!!

Ok, I guess you could say I'm way overdue on the drunk thing. Last time I got skunky drunk was in 1981:rotfl2: Oh yeah, it was that good, or bad depends on how you look at it:lmao: Doesn't mean I never drink, I do, esp on a cruise. I just don't get drunk. I'm too big of a control freak. :rolleyes1

Yup that would be it:thumbsup2

Annette, I should have gotten you to translate the menu for me:rotfl2: Just kidding, we will be doing counter service at Epcot. Probably Electric Umbrella. Lindsey wanted Coral Reef. I did do, but only for the under water view. Nothing on the menu looked good.

Sunshine Seasons wasn't a bad place. And everyone could get whatever they wanted as far as type of cuisine goes. Can't remember....are you doing the DP? I would love the Coral Reef. The view is great too. We did the scuba-assisted snorkel in the aquarium last January. That was way cool!!! And there is a hidden mickey on the gravel floor. I don't know if you can see it from the windows. We would wave to people that were in there. DD was so afraid of the sharks. There were some BIG ones in there :scared1: but they stayed at the bottom. One of the turtles came up to the deck to say goodbye to DH and DS. We found out her name was Whitney and she was in heat. :rotfl2:

I'm gonna miss eating at WDW this trip. Definitely on my list to do the Food and Wine Festival one year.....BTW did you guys see the recipes on allears??? Got the Konk Kooler and Palo's souffle.::yes::

I posted this on the Canadian Board also

OT~ We are pleased to announce the arrival of

Three brand new little baby robins! I had this old dried flower wreath which was getting rubby looking buI didn't have the heart to throw it out so I hung it over my outside light right outside my front door. Well a little over 2 weeks ago I went to fetch the newspaper on a Sunday morning and their was 2 blobs of mud on the box directly below the wreath. Well I looked up and overnight the robins had built a nest. The wreath is shaped like a heart and they built their nest in the dip of the heart on the top. Well a week ago I checked the nest and their was 2 blue eggs in there. Well I found this link to see how long it would take for the eggs to hatch and realized I might want to give the nest another lookyloo. Well I got the ladder out and lo and behold in the nest are three brand new baby robins. According to the link they appear to be on day 2 or 3. Very cool indeed. Here is a wonderful link someone did. I wanted to do it but was concerned she may abandon the nest so I decided to just check it the two times mentioned. The link provides an excellent storyline with great pics though!

No DP for us. We were going to, but then found out because we booked an extra day, DCL wouldn't let us do it.:confused3 Hey, I would have been happy with paying that first day. Oh well, since most meals are counter service, we will get off cheaper than if we had used the DP. I'm thinking of putting in an order from the Garden Grocer for some snacks, and breakfast items. I got the Konk Kooler one. :thumbsup2 Sounds yummy!

Thanks for well wishes!:cool1:

LGMPH- Lime Green Mickey Paint Head (an informal representation of the DIS from Home Depot)
CRT: Cinderella Royal Table (I promised no rope drops this trip so we are doing CRT lunch)

I could never do your job Courtney. I have a tremendous amount of respect for people in the health care field. You really have to be cut from the right cloth to do the job!

On that note I have a job interview with the CBE on Monday morning (Calgary Board of Education) wish me luck! I got my tat sketch tonight. OMG I LOVE it! I can hardly wait!

How fortunate that we ended up with such a diverse wonderful bunch of people on this cruise thread!:grouphug:
