12/19/2009 - 12/26/2009 Magical Christmas Cruise! It's not that far Away?

That is a great idea! Let's start thinking of slogans. Mark's suggestion:Castaway Cay Ski Team. Another idea: Holiday on the Water

By the way are we still doing the wristbands Bill?

:dance3::cheer2:

I still think something involving teachers would be cute. "C is for Cruising- Teachers Holiday Break". Or maybe "Teachers Gone Goofy" since Goofy dangles on the side of the Magic.

Edited to add: More reason to call it a teacher's cruise- out of the 40 adults on our roll call, 35% (14) of them are teachers (including subs), were teachers, or are studying to be teachers!

Kimberly we are cut from the same cloth!! I am super cheap myself. Hence my cat 12 on this sailing. It was $3K less than the Cat 11 that I will probably end up in! I really only book when I can find an amazing deal and I will search until I find it. I am waiting on the dream unless we can book a trip with customers that the company pays for! I also prefer a seven day trip so it will be a while for me. I know it will be amazing but we also need to get out there and try new things ourselves. I would really like to do a CA visit with the National Parks thrown in now that Emily is almost ten and ready to really explore.
Kimberly have you tried Southernsavers.com? It is my favorite couponing site for the south!

We are getting so close!!:santa:

Ooohh, I didn't know about southernsavers.com! Thank you soo much, Shannon!

We should know in a couple days where our cabins are. For the difference in price from the cat 12 to cat 11's and higher, I'm happy to be anywhere on the ship!

I tend to be drawn to island / tropical type vacations myself and I am sure DH would love to try something else other than a Disney trip. Not that he doesn't enjoy them, but he is more the type to want to try new things. However, I am worried that a day will come when DD no longer wants to go to WDW so I want to get in as much as I can while she is young. Maybe I will get lucky and she will always love it...poor DH! :rotfl:

I like your ideas Robyn! I especially like Teachers Gone Goofy...Barbara, yours are great too and if we don't do a teacher theme, one of those would fit well.

Anyone else have ideas?

OH Sure, come up with a slogan idea now. I already have my ribbon printed :). Oh, well, we'll all remember anyway :).

I like the slogan idea. Here is an idea: Crashing the Seas in 7 Days or something (or is that lame?) -- Hm, question mark after the parenthesis, huh? Teachers...

I replied to the PM that you sent, but haven't gotten any reply from you from either place. Should I send you another PM?

As far as I know, the question mark is before the end parenthesis. Then again, I teach in really garbled up language (try using American Sign Language, using Conceptually Accurate Signed English, speaking, all at the same time. It's practically using three languages at once!)

Edit: wow, I took you way too seriously. Sorry- I'm still in work mode, brain-wise, but I'm in home mode emotionally!

So, Robynchic, you speak/teach ASL?!! OMGosh that is so cool. I really want my whole family to learn it. I taught the kids when they were young. It was so nice to be able to talk to them without yelling over people. Even now, they remember some of it, and I can sign to them to 'remind them of their manners'. This is something I woiuld like to learn and use all the time.

I played with some images and the teacher slogans and made a few designs (nothing too creative because I am not that good with the computer) but I did it on Microsoft Word...how do I get it to post here?

stitchlover, I'm not sure how to post on this board. I've never had any success with that. I hope someone else can help b/c I'd love to see your designs. Maybe Robynchic can help...she posted wedding pics so perhaps she can give you some help...

Robyn I agree we should have it about teachers. I had not thought of that yet. I was thinking vacation.... As for adding something to the posting I think you can do it by using the hyperlink tool (that is the world globe with the chain link below it) You can find it under the smile face on the message menu bar where it gives you the ability to choose font size, bold, italicize, etc.

I am creating our FE. I am getting really excited about this. I did not realize such a small project could become so entailed. I have changed my mind several times about the design since I first began. I think this final idea came last night. I will know more after school today when I make a model of this design. The fabric stores and Michaels are becoming my best friends.:dance3::cheer2:

I don't teach ASL, but I do speak it fluently. I'm a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing, so I teach the deaf. DH is slowly but surely learning ASL. When we have children, he knows that I'm going to start signing and speaking to our kids from the moment I first hold them. That way, they can communicate their wants and needs before they can speak.

Stitchlover, the first thing you have to do is post the image on an image hosting site, whether it's Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, or Photobucket. Once you've done that, you can get the image link by right clicking on the image, then (if you're using Firefox) right-click "copy image location". If you're using IE, click "properties" and the link to the image will be viewable on the window that pops up. Click on the link (I think it's two or three times) to highlight the entire URL, then copy the image location.

Once you save the image URL, come back over to here, do an advanced reply. When you post the image, click on the icon at the top that looks like a picture with mountains (third from the right, next to the speech bubble icon). It'll paste [ image] [ / image] (I've added spaces in the brackets so it doesn't try to pull up an image) into the post window. Paste the image URL between the two bracketed words. Then continue your post outside the brackets. When you submit the reply, it'll show up (if you've done it right)

Edited to add: as far as FE's, I still need to make our FE bag. I've decided another thing to do with my FE's, and there's going to be a theme. But if it saves money to do things the way I plan to, awesome!

Being a teacher, I like the idea of the teacher themed slogan alot, but I just thought of something....

in fairness to those that are not teachers and may feel left out if we use something that is geared towards educators, should we maybe use a more generic slogan? :confused3

It's just a thought...let's hear from everyone on this to see what you're all thinking...

How about "Goofin' Around the Holidays"

Sorry, I really like the idea of integrating Goofy into our slogan.

I like the "Goofy" theme too. I also like the teacher thing, but agree with Kimberly about trying to be inclusive. I'm not a teacher, but I'm married to one . . . so I don't have any objections to the teacher theme. Robyn - was it 35% of us as individuals are teachers (of some sort) or was it 35% of families?

-Leslie

35% of individuals. I can go back through to figure out families, if you'd like. My guess is that it's closer to 60% of families.

I am okay with whatever theme we choose. Since I'm a teacher, I love that theme! But I just want to be sure that no one feels left out no matter what slogan we pick. :flower3:

Ok, I exaggerated a bit. Nearly 50% of the families (10 out of 21) have at least one teacher in them.
