I made my reservations 7/30/09, final payment, third week in Oct. I'm not sure which date is the one Disney considers to offer the upgrades, or if that even makes a difference. This will be our 4th cruise. There are only 2 of us, so I don't know what to make of all of this!
I have been carrying my phone around and will not let it out of my sight!

Can you tell us what can of upgrade you received? Pretty please?? Can you also tell me when you booked? We didn't book until September, so I think it will be awhile before or even if we are called.

i just booked on sep 19. it was a new booking, i didnt have any dummy date that i moved or anything. i booked a cat 12 and got called monday to upgrade for a cat 9 for 150 dollars.

Those of you who got emails about the upgrades, did you get an email from your TA or DCL directly? I am wondering if I need to be watching email and listening out for the phone. We didn't use a TA, so I am wondering if I am contacted will it be by phone?

i didnt have a ta. dcl called me on monday. you think dcl will call everybody in a gty to see if they want to pay extra for an upgrade. it wouldnt hurt to call them. the person i talked to on monday had a special number for me to call if i wanted to think about it but i upgraded right than so i didnt get the special number maybe someone else has the number. if i wanted to think about it i had until wednesday which is today.

Guess what? Disney just called with the upgrade offer.
It was Disney direct- I didn't go through a travel agent this time.

Kimberly, I would grab that phone right now and wait. They just called me. I feel like you will get the upgrade too! I had cat 12 and was upgraded to 9 for $150. We are throwing pixie dust your way.

I called DCL to ask what may happen with ours (booked Dec. 2008). They said that because my reservation is through DVC, it's unlikely that we'll be upgraded. Oh well- we have a secret porthole room and I just saw pics from it (in the trip report thread), so I won't mind if we don't get a call!

I think you will love your location. I always request the 5th deck because it is so convenient. I think that the secret porthole is not obstructed all that much.
I have stayed very close to Flounders, etc.(which is aft) I was concerned about the noise from the theatre, but it was actually a location that I liked- there was not the long hall of cabins that some of the other decks have, it felt more open.

Hi everyone! thanks for throwing some pixie dust our way! I just got an email from my TA and we were also offered the Cat. 9 upgrade for $150!

I hope you all get the upgrades you want. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to call them? I don't know about this as Mark and I are DVC members and we always just book the Cat we want. Those of you might want to think about becoming DVC members. It is so worth it to always be able to get what you want when you want it. As long as we have the points available we have always been able to get the reservation we wanted. Of course we know to book in advance during impacted dates but still we have also been lucky there too. We are staying in a one bedroom suite at Paradise Pier at Disneyland to celebrate our wedding anniversary Dec. 1st with friends. We didn't have the right amount points left to secure the Grand California Villas till our next use year so this was our second choice. It is equally spectacular. Next year we will stay in the villas. Mark and I began our purchase with DVC slowly and added points on during great deals and specials. This has allowed us to meet fabulous people like you, enjoy vacations we would have never been able to afford otherwise and live the life of our dreams. I know I sound like a promoter but believe I am not. I just truly beleive with all my heart that this is the best kept secret that more people need to take advantage of in order to enjoy the time of their lives.

Now let's get back to chatting about FE"s. I am in the creation process now and my wonderful husband has this idea that I am not to sure will look like a FE when it is completed. So if you see a crazy looking FE on stateroom 2568 you will know that his influence won out. We shall see! I am so excited I am now dancing in the classrooms. Students are smiling and laughing which brings us all joy! Then we learn with smiles instead of duldruns!

I have a feeling we won't get a call as we are a three and we fit nice and snug in the three seaters! I do have to admit that last time when I walked in to that room for the first time I was shocked. We had always had a nine or ten so that room seemed tiny! by the end of the trip we loved it because it was so darn quiet. We were on 7 which I loved because it was a short little walk up to the pools. I had never stayed anywhere but two and I loved that also! I did notice that up on seven there were no creaking sounds in cabin as the boat moved! that was a nice bonus for such a small room!!

Hey everybody,,, sorry for the delay in getting back. I have been at some medical conferences for the last two days. We were up until 5AM Tuesday night to try to get the office ready for us to be out during the day. Boy, it is hard to concentrate when you are running on no sleep. Anyway,,, we got cat nine rooms for us. To be honest, I don't remember when we booked. I know it has been a number of months. This is a first for our family. We have never been offered an upgrade on any of the cruises in the past. AND THAT MEANS EIGHT!!!!! I assumed that when we cruised on DVC, there just never would be an upgrade. That was based on the history of bad blood between DVC and DCL. Unfortunately, I don't know how true this is. YOu would think that with an unlimited supply of devoted Disney fans in DVC, DCL would offer a discount and the stampede would be thunderous. I know that if I was offered a discount, like Florida discount, I would jump at it.
