I wondered about that, Sherrena.

Incidently, as far as the whole sign out priveleges go...
We have DS13, DS10, and DD8. This is our first cruise with a "teenager" and I was surprised to see that there is no such thing as NOT having sign out privelges when you are 13! So, to make a long story short, for this cruise ALL of them have sign out priveleges. DD8 will just go back to the room and get milk and cookies from room service and read or watch tv. We arrange it so the kids have there own room that connects to ours. DD8 gets the section next to the port hole that can be curtained off from the rest. Hopefully DS10 will hang with Keith or other DS10 DISers (or go back to the room to hang with DD8).

I figure we can always take it away if it becomes a problem but I don't anticipate that it will.

The teenager thing, though... should be interesting!

We've always done the 5 people, one room thing....I have some concerns about that this time, because it is a longer cruise, but DH thinks it is all fine! We'll see..but that's one reason I don't really want them hanging out in the room ..(it's my room too!) ;)

I think it will be interesting with teenagers, but am in a slightly different situation in that I expect my two teenagers will be together much of the time. (Of course, I've been surprised before.) They are pretty good friends when they aren't fighting...and when around people they don't know they usually stick with each other--safety in numbers. The older of the two is quite responsible...long as his brother is with him I'm not TOO worried.

It should be fun!

"Get teeth cleaned before cruise"

AAK! Susan!! I don't have that on my list!!!

Deep breath, it's OK, you still have a week, you can get your teeth cleaned if you want to...

Of course, I might have to choose between a pedicure and getting my teeth cleaned...

Hmm...

I'll probably go with the toes. The teeth will wait until January and it will be OK...

Deep breath.

I'm Ok now - just a little organizing-crazy.

Seriously, though, I ditto the pixie dust pixiedust: for all of you having dental work in the next days before our vacation. I really hope it all goes off without a hitch!

We also used to do all five of us in one family suite on deck 8. Then, some friends (their kids are a couple of years older than ours) introduced us to this concept of connecting rooms on deck 2. It is less expensive and gives us considerably more space, including two bathrooms. Plus, as you said, DH and I get our privacy.

I thought I would really miss the varandah but I don't. We prefer hanging out on the comfy chairs on deck 4. Plus, it is a totally different experience being so close to the water. The port hole really is huge. We'll show you, Sherrena! This time we are across the hall from the laundry room, and my mom has a room just a few doors down.

I'll take a look, because the bathroom thing gets on my nerves...the only saving grace is that we do have 1 1/2, and mom gets priority...with no other girls, it isn't too bad....except I'm worried that "not too bad" will turn into "pretty painful" in ten days...

Can't we keep our room with the verandah and put the boys somewhere else? :rotfl: ;)

And yes, I booked my pedicure for next week just this morning...and am having hair cut and.... I mean hair cut today! :sunny:

Good morning everyone!

Well, the 18 inches of snow that they predicted for us hasn't arrived yet so the kids are at school today! I just hope it doesn't all come one their way home.

No plans for today...just more packing.

Must be the time of year for dentists. Two went on Tuesday (orthodontist) and DH went today for them to fix a tooth that has not been right for 6 months. I think he need to go to my dentist next time.

I go tomorrow for a hair cut and foil. Or as my DH calls it, hiding my grey hairs!! Hey, he has a lot more than I do (even before I color it)!

I have a 14DS. When we went on our cruise Nov '05, Nick was 13 by only one month. We gave him rules and he followed them very well. His sister was at the teen club all night DD16 but Nick usually watched the show with us and then checked out what was going on around the ship then call it a night by 10 - 10:30pm.

He will know other kids his age this time from the DISboards and this might make a difference. Last time he went with his cousin (both were 7th graders last time) but even the trouble cousin got into Nick was in bed each night early. - cousin would get up and go shopping at midnight :sad2: :sad2: - he can be a bad kid!!!

Nick is so ADHD that he has to crash early to keep the energy up :teeth:

I got my hair taken care of last week! Teeth were cleaned on Tuesday. Today I am having a problem removed from my foot. And DD is finally getting her hair braided tonight, she is so excited. She wanted it done before the cruise and was afraid it wouldn't happen but DH finally tracked down someone that could do the tight braids she wants.

Packing is the main thing left in trip prep. DH needs to get me his dress pants and choose what casual shirts he wants to bring. He also needs to go buy new sneakers!

And this weekend we are getting SIL moved out from across the street (Ok, she is getting moved out, we aren't helping) and then moving Mom's furniture from our garage into her house and getting it set up for her. She also wants me to put up her Christmas tree for her. So my weekend will be spend over there helping Mom. DH has to finish grading papers and give 5 finals next week. And they all have to be graded and final grades turned in before we leave Friday afternoon. The last final is Friday morning!!

I understand the paper think - graded until midnight last night. 93 American History tests complete - last test before the cruise!!!! Now i just have to get them in the computer this morning.

So is Keith the only kid with no sign-out privliges???? That would not make him happy. :sad2: :sad2:

Not that I'm about to change my mind -- I know my son well enough to worry...

Yeah, I think Keith will not be happy. :sad2: I told Sam that she had to have a buddy whenever she signs out and she asked if she could have Keith as a buddy. I told her I didn't think he would be able to sign himself out and she said that was a bummer. But I understand if you aren't comfortable with it. I am not sure how Sam will do but she knows that she risks losing her privilege if she messes up and she wants to be able to sign herself in and out so I am hoping she follows the rules.

Michael will be on the buddy system also so if her and Michael hit it off and they want hthey can buddy up together also ...he is well behaved on the ship and very polite and respectfull...he likes to go to the movies and the pool(will not go in if no one there to watch or with someone)and the arcade...

We should all get together with our kids also so they can all meet each other and not get lost in the crowds of kids...and miss each other...

If we can get them to come to the meet at the start of the cruise that would be good....

Are we still doing the game of DIS tag? Has someone already made it or do you guys want me to design it?

This is my future, I feel it coming on....Robin, go right now to Angela's Yahoo site and print the list of room numbers. It's under database, then under Christmas cruisers...Kat just updated it so it should be good. Then while you're there go print the calendar. I did it this morning and put it with my paperwork....I feel more together now. I can use it to do whatever, but no matter what I know I have it with me. :sunny:

Why do I feel like there isn't enough time to get everything done??? And still a week to go....

I need to double check my room list that I printed previously because I suspect it is not right either. Jen was going to create a navigator for us with all of our group activities on it but I guess she ran out of time, eh?

Funny......I was just thinking of this this morning when I was getting the cabin numbers together.

No, I don't recall that anyone took control of this one :confused3 .

Well I was planning on doing it since I was the one who suggested the game of tag, I was just making sure no one had already done it. :goodvibes
