I agree, teens on the road is scary. Lexi turned 16 last May. She took her drivers training class Aug-Sept her sophmore year and now she is a junior. She is the first of her friends to drive (girls that is!)

The area we live in is pretty rural but he area that she goes to school in is very uppermiddle class and crowded. Its a long drive and with as little sleep as she gets studying it will be awhile before she drives herself to school. Sorry kid...I will still take you to school with me and put you on a bus

Morning everyone

Speaking of which, I'm thinking I'll be headed to the mall to buy jeans for my teenager. Both of us would rather be shot. He hates going into the stores which makes me hate taking him. But he has to try things on, because there are things he doesn't like, and he's long-legged and thin, sometimes hard to fit. Rather than running back and forth, I make him go. Or he can wear the ones from last year and start the Raphael Nadal capri pant look for boys in his school!

I have a skinny 14 year old and can only buy online. Gap.com He wears a 14 slim with the adjustable waitband so that it can get smaller. Nick is only 4'9" but now that he is 14 he claims to be 4'11". I'm only 5'1" so I'm not buying it. He only weighs 74 lbs. I think his ADHD meds keep his weight way down. But nobody wants to get very close when he is not on them!!!!

Bad morning...waiting for the coffee but nothing is coming. It would help if I added water????

Exact reason why I hinted to FIL that I wanted a coffee maker with a timer and got one two Christmasesesses ago. Now I set it up the night before when I am alert. It is not fair that I need concentration to make coffee in the mornings and what I need to concentrate is coffee.

(I also got one of those Senseo machines from SWMBO. It makes rather bad coffee, but it is fast and easy so it can at least get me moving)

We did the GAP thing for years, but now he's about 5'10" and into adult sizes. The stores that most kids shop at have baggy stuff... although I'm hearing that Levi's are now considered acceptable again, and they actually size pants by length and waist separately at these sizes.

We're friends with a family that also has a 14 year old who is thin, probably also because of ADHD meds. (Mine doesn't have that as an excuse, is on no medication, just doesn't gain weight much!) She says PacSun has some things cut for thinner guys--I haven't looked around in that store, but may give it a shot if I can get DS to walk through the door!

That's a great solution, if you use the timer. We have one of those too, bought it for just that reason, but by night...I'm just not thinking coffee!

But do I get points for at least washing the pot before the next morning?

Your son and my daughter are about the same height! Sometimes I can't believe that my kids are only 2 years apart and over a foot in height difference! I guess that comes from marrying a guy 6'4" and I'm only 5'1"!!!

It would end up the boy is the short one... but there is still time to grow!

I am sleep deprived as my 12 y.0 has had a report due today and has had 2 weeks to do it,put it off till last minute thinking "gee I can get this done on time no problem" he started it at around 5:00 and finished it last night at 1:00am. He had to use my comp in my bedroom because printer is in my room.

I asked him in the morning"So will you ever do that again"(wait till last minute)..he replyed "NOooo WAY". Hopefully he has learned a lesson. I am trying to give him a little more responcibility(altough he is crazy!!!!) not just hard love on him but geesh...hard on me also.

So I have goten a total of 5 hrs sleep. Feels like I had only one

From experience - don't fool yourself...this will happen again and again and again. Our attendance secretary says she always knows when a big project is due...absences are way up . Do parents really think letting them stay home to avoid turning in an assignment that was due teaches them anything?? My kids stay up and finish - I got to bed - and then they go to school. If it isn't done, they pay the price. BUT I'm a mean mom ::cop: and a teacher

My DD flat will not wear jeans and hates to shop. Buying clothes for her is a nightmare. She is so picky. No buttons on shirts, no v-necks, no lace or frills, nothing too girly-girl. I just can't buy shirts unless she is along. And since all her height is in her torso I have to get shirts a little big or her tummy shows no matter the season. Pants are always too long and she prefers stretch pants over anything else. Right now she still wants to wear shorts. Not when it is 32 degrees in the morning!!!! Sorry kid.

The kids around here wear shorts and sweatshirts all year long. My son's favorite outfit. I think because on the westside (of WA) temps are fairly consistant 45 -75 most of the year.

My DD is very picky on clothes too. She is very conservative. She wears 6 layers of shirts I would look like a balloon, lucky for her she doesn't. She is tall and slender (not thin) and usually wears smalls. But don't ask me about shoes - she loves them and would buy them all the time if she could. Her favorite shopping place is Target Great for my budget!

Bad morning for me as well. DD and I up all night from something we ate. We think it's the Pumpkin shake from McDonalds. That seem to be the only thing we ate that was the same. Had to be up early this morning for the puppies Halloween Party. They all looked so cute in their costumes and bobbing for apples.

We're home for just an hour and then it's off to her school for the Fall Festival. All I want to do is crawl back into bed. I'm sooooooooo tired.

DH is home this weekend so of course he wants attention too. At least it's a rainy overcast day, no one will expect me to be my perky self.

Boy can still grow...my 16 year old was about 5'4" a year ago, while many of his friends had grown. Finally took off! Good thing, because (almost) 14 year old is only an inch or two behind him. He wears bigger sized clothing because is is not as thin, but it's all OK with big brother until he passes him in height.

Wow, she's got a lot of rules...I know girls especially can be that way. When DS14 was younger, he hated anything around his face or neck--it wasn't a "look" thing it was a comfort thing. We even ended up cutting most of the tags out of his t shirts. He still is the last one to put on a collared shirt--prefers ts. Will wear them to church, but wears t underneath and pulls collared shirt off in car! Think he'll enjoy formal night? Another reason we aren't going to go buy them anything special to wear.

None of us are buying anything new, actually. DH and I talked about it last night and have things that should work well enough. I'm sorta cheating because I found a really great deal on an outfit in May that I thought I was going to wear to a party. I changed my mind about wearing it to the party, but the price on the outfit was so good I didn't return it. Tried it on awhile ago, and I think I will use it. So I KINDA got something new.....

More money to spend on other stuff!

Good morning everyone - hmm already afternoon - oh well where does the time go!!

The weeks now seem to be flying by - and there seems so much to do still before the big trip. Typed out our intinary today and trying to figure out the best way to drive down to WDW.

Took all my dresses out of the closet and discovered that I could hand wash all of them rather then dry clean so I am thrilled. Even better since I have a front loader that has a hand wash cycle. So my goal is to wash all the clothes we are taking on the trip and iron them ready to hang in the guest room closet, so all I have to do is pack it when it gets closer.

I know its the A type personality thing again - X-mas presents all bought and wrapped - so now I needed something else to focus on.

DD upset this a.m. as a hungry squirrel nibbled at her eyeore carved pumpkin.

Going back to work on Monday after having been off since May. This will be an interesting and busy month.

Just came in to say Goob Morning and to have a GREAT Day today!!!
No time to read or chat..off to Fall festisval at the school to finish setting up and than to foorball game. Was up late setting up the Haunted house at the school. Football game from 3-5 than back to sthe shool to help clean up. Will be gone till 7:00 my time so will try to catch up on the posts tonight.
