12/16/06 10-day holiday cruise Part 2

I am here....had what you might call a busy weekend, and I am chilling and trying to recover.

Jay's mom passed away yesterday morning. We were at Hospice with her for most of the night Saturday night and Sunday morning. She had been ill for some time, but her passing was really a lot sooner than we had expected.

Yesterday afternoon, DD Megan was in a bad car accident. So I was at the scene and hospital with her til late last night. She has lots of bumps, bruises, cuts, scratches, a bonk on the head, and a sprained ankle....but is in good spirits. Thankfully...because it could have been much worse.

Sure hope things calm down there in AZ. Otherwise, you might need a vacation!

OMG! I just got the Adobe Creative Suite Premuim. If any of you are computer nerds like me, you will know what that is. It has Photoshop CS, Illustrator CS, Acrobat Professional, and so many more top-of-the-line programs. Wow, you should see me. I am bouncing up and down like a kid after christmas. This suite is like $800!! I got a free copy through my school! how cool is that?! Wow i am so excited right now.

Going to go see Boo this weekend. I hope she is learning alot from the trainer. I really miss her, but I know that she needs to stay down there for a while longer. At least I have a horse to ride while she's gone. It's not my horse, but somebody else's who can't ride very much because he's about 80. This horse is a handful because he's race bred. Even though he's a western stock horse, he's still race bred.

well, i have to go work on some websites. I got a boat load of clients from an ad i posted at a horse website. Which is good.

Megan called, she is really hurting a lot more tonight. And, she got a call from her Dad. Her Grandpa on her dad's side died today. Poor kid.....

Stacey, my thoughts and prayers are with you and all your family! My gosh, but what a weekend for all of you.

We had a quiet weekend. I was off yesterday and did NOTHING. I had intended to get some sewing done (including a stocking for next Christmas), run some errands, etc. but just didn't feel up to going anywhere or doing anything. We went to Indy on Saturday and I was VERY disappointed in the Disney Store. They had lots of cheesy toys and tons of stuffed animals but almost nothing in the way of clothing or anything else nice anymore. Apparently Disney sold off the store part and though it is still called the Disney Store it isn't actually owned by Disney. So sad.

Hoo boy Stacey! Extra to you and Megan! Geez! Hope she starts feeling better today. It's always worse the second day.

Kat, I hear ya. We went to our Disney Store this weekend too. Terrible selection. Just a few adult sized t-shirts, all in XXL. Too big for DH to even wear. We were both bummed. Actually, we stopped in to four stores at the mall, all a total bust. Walked out not having spent a dime. Then we went to DSW! Found some golf shoes for me finally! Always feel better when I can buy shoes!

Starting demolition on flooring in about 2/3 of our house on Thursday. Yay. I'm excited to be putting in hard wood flooring, it will look infintely better than the five types of carpet/linoleum/tile that it's replacing, but what a mess until it's done! And then there's the and . Should be fun keeping all toes clear of sharp stuff.

Kara, I think the only adult sized things I found were women's PJs and they were either flannel (I don't want flannel pjs for a cruise!) or the long t-shirts and I don't like those. Oh well, I will wait for Wal-Mart to get the summer ones in. They usually have some neat Disney ones for adults. I still have money on my Disney gift card I got when I applied for the Disney Visa. I used some to get some neat Tinkerbell ornaments that were on clearance from the catalog but I guess I will just have to keep my eyes open for further items in the catalog.

I don't envy you having your floors torn up. We redid our main bathroom floor several years ago and that was bad enough. We need to tear out the carpet in the hallway and put hardwood in but that is a couple of years away. This year's extra money is going to vacations, not home improvements!

Jen, looking forward to seeing the shirt designs! Did we ever reach a consensus on a color for the first one? I asked DH and he doesn't want one but I will get at least one for DD (probably whichever is the one we will wear the day of departure) and I will get one or maybe even both.

Nothing much new here today...which is probably a blessing. Haven't heard from Megan, so she must have taken her pain pills, and is sleeping.

No word on services for Jay's mom....his brother is handling that, since we took care of Jay's dad's stuff.


The Disney Stores are now owned by The Children's Place chain. Not going to be the same at all. We did some work for them, when they re-designed the new store at one of our malls. It's pretty, though...and still LOOKS like a Disney Store.
The only stores now that Disney will still own are going to be the ones in the parks and in Downtown Disney. Those are "World of Disney", aren't they??

Stacey- My sympathies and prayers to your family. There is never a good time to lose a parent or grandparent. But when you are laid up from an accident is about the worst time. Heres hoping your daughter recovers quickly.



I was up at Winter Park Colorado for this past weekend with some buddies. Had fun with all of the snow, but I am a beach person 100%. Give me a 100/100 day anytime! (100 degrees and 100% humidity)

I am not a winter person either, though the 100/100 thing is more than I like either! 70/70 is more my style!

They are threatening is with snow again this evening and the radar looks pretty bad (Lampy, is the snow flying there yet???). Right now it is solid green for almost the entire eastern 3/4 of the state, then a thin band of pink, then blue behind that. Ugh.

Aaahhh, but that cold air rushing up your nostrils, enabling them to stick together like crazy glue is so invigorating, don't ya think? . And those big bulky sweaters and coats that are sooooo flattering, now ya just gotta luv them!!!

Well, today turned out to be a most wonderful day. First, I snagged an Illuminations Boat this Morning (which I'm gonna cancel if I can get one for April 21 instead) AND I finally found a rental car that isn't gonna break the bank. They were quoting $500-$700 for for compact-intermidiate . I found a premium on Budget today for $381 including taxes, still outrageous, but lucky to find it for Easter Week. DH won't even FIT in a compact although it would be kinda entertaining to watch him try....BAD WIFE, BAD WIFE.

Okay, now I understand the Disney Store changes better. I guess I didn't know that the Children's Place took them over. Adult merchandise = not their thing...

Any whoo, Kat don't think you need to use up what's on that card before the cruise unless it expires before then. You can use any money on that Disney Rewards card to pay for any portion of your ship account balance. I'm saving mine for my spa habit ! I have an expensive habit...did I mention that? I like to pamper myself on the cruises. You should also be able to transfer the reward dollars you accumulate using that Disney Visa onto the rewards card before the cruise - again, assuming that the card doesn't expire before 12/2006. If the expiration is 12/06, you can use it until the end of the month, perfect for the cruise!

Kara, this is not a rewards card. This is the gift card that I got when I signed up for the Visa card. Unfortunately it can't be used on the cruise . I will have reward $$, never fear.

the misserable weather here matches my mood. The high is over (of getting the software) and now reality is coming back to kick me in the face. Another bad report from the trainer. Boo doesn't seem to be retaining anything she learns. She's improving, but she takes 2 steps back for every 3 steps foward now.
