12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Vanessa, I only had one name listed on the Palo ressie also, but it does say for 1-2 people so I guess we are covered.
DD wants to be a "girl pirate" for Halloween so she will be covered. DS was a pirate last year so I just have to see if his costume will still fit. I will probably look for myself and DH one with the Halloween costumes. Although I may try to make a thrift store pirate. I went to Goodwill the other day, but I didn't have any luck finding anything that I thought would work. pirate:

Di, our tickets to come home aren't until 7:50. I could have gotten 1:30, but the later time was quite a bit cheaper. I think we will head over to WDW for the day. I figure we can probably be to a park by 10 am, then that would give us until around 4:30 or so before we need to head to the airport. We are going to buy a 7 day park hopper with no expiration date. That will give us two days we can use on this trip and then 5 days for our WDW trip that we are doing next June.

When can we start packing. I'm ready!!! :boat:

I'm ready to start packing too!! Well at least for the girls. And I since I have been doing the grocery game for a couple weeks I have all these extra toiletries that would not be missed if I packed them up!!

I have two formal dresses that I doubt will fit unless I get this 20lbs off by then, which I hope to do so I won't have to buy something new for me. I just need a new swim suit, which I really don't want to buy yet either....the kids and DH have SO many suits! I keep picking them up when they are on clearance because we go to the beach so often and once the pool is done I figure Samantha will go through bathing suits quite regularly.

Are you all bringing over the door shoe holder things? I didn't last time and didn't really need it but it was a 3 nighter....maybe this time would help to keep clutter up.

Next month we head to Disney...we are supposed to have Samantha's birthday party at 1900 park fare...12 of us all together. My family seems to think it is a costume party, as all her (2) previous parties have been costume parties...I hate to put a damper on things but we are doing the MNSSHP the night before and I kind of wanted to wear regular clothes....my grandma seems so thrilled to dress up and my mom wants to be Mrs. Potts...which I think will not make a good buffet and sit down dinner comfortable costume...I guess I should just tell them nicely....no costumes.

I have the following for Samantha for the trip....Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Belle....I was tempted last night to order Pocahontas, Lilo and there was one other cheap one just for her to play in..but am waiting for a free shipping offer I think. The Belle deluxe I would have ordered but no XXS. I need to take her shoe shopping for a pair of dress shoes that can be interchanged with all the outfits...I am taking her Cinderella to the dry cleaner today...I washed it but no matter how I iron the bow and hip puffy things it still is wrinkled....wonder how much that will cost me?

Well I better get some work done!

Good grief! What a mess here. :( They closed the schools at 11:30 so that they can prepare the ones that are used for shelters for Ophelia. The storm isn't even suppose to hit here until Thursday now. They haven't said officially that school is closed tomorrow but that is just about a given if they have to open the shelters. Some areas around us didn't even have school today. So now the 3 work days that we had for the fall are gone. :( The kids are already after each other & I am ready to stick them outside. :(

We take the over the door thing to use in the bathroom inside the door. I put everything in it including DD's & my hair things. We fill it up every time. I also took a side by side hanging shoe holder last time to use in the closet. That was nice since we didn't have to put the shoes on the floor of the closet.

Lisa, I was wondering how close you were to where the hurricane is supposed to hit. I hope you are all okay. Hang in there. :grouphug:

We also took the over the door organizer last time. We mostly used it for shoes of all things :goodvibes . I am sure that we will be bringing it again, especially since we will have more shoes this time.

The rain just started. We couldn't see out to the street! I have moved everything & just parked the van in the center of the cul de sac with the other cars. I need to run the kid's friend home across the street while there is a break in the downpour.

We took an over the door shoe hanger last trip and it was very helpful in keeping the clutter down. We put all kinds of tickets and things in it. Also sunglasses and even a couple pair of shoes! We don't take alot of shoes, just a pair of black dress sandle heels, one pair of casual sandals, water shoes and tennis shoes for me. Same for DH except he does not wear sandals, so it is only 3 pair for him.

Lisa,

We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers, as well as one of the areas we truly love - I always worry about the people and the beautiful outer banks of NC that we have come to know and love through 15 years of summer vacations.

We took the over the door shoe thing once - did not take it last time as there were only 3 of us instead of 4. Three again this time, so I doubt we will take it. I am a constant "clutter clearer" so I think we will be OK.

Vanessa, tribe wins again 5-2 over A's - 2 HR's by Ben Broussard to tie and then win the game and keep us in the Wild Card Lead. BTW - did I tell you I saw both TH and Fri games from a suite? A law firm that is negotiating our Contract invited me both nights - it was awesome.

It hasn't rained since then. Nice & clear with the crickets chirping. I guess that it has slowed down again because now the map says tomorrow night before it gets near us. ARG! At least I can send one of the kids across the street for a while if they start acting up. :)

Still waiting..... The kids are going stir crazy. They don't understand the concept of the rain bands no matter how many times I show them the radar. When it stops raining they want to go over to a friend's house. I don't need them getting stuck some place when it gets closer to the center.

Lisa - hope you are all doing ok!!

I noticed on the cruise website you have listed a wine/cheese thing in a stateroom, is that planned? Do you need someone's room?

and anyone who wants to stop by - feel welcome (well ok, not in the middle of the night)!! I will probably have our door decorated so should be easy to pick out. We should have plenty of beverages and we can always order a cheese platter...

and it would be safe to bet that we will have toys for kiddos to play with...now, they will be girly toys....

I am also ordering pirate stuff...so I will have plenty of tatoos and other pirate gear to go around.

I am assuming the website is up to date passenger wise? I am just curious if the number of children will be what is posted...no one has canceled have they? It seems a few people haven't posted and there are a couple people on the cruise line forum that are on our cruise but haven't come by our thread.....

I know it is still far out but I am starting to get really excited! We should have quite a few DIS'ers....:)

Not a fun day. :( The kids are finally sleeping. They are down here on the air mattress. DS was freaking out shaking when I put him to bed. He was scared that a tree would fall on the house & he would lose all his stuff. Downstairs we are safer & I guess I convinced him of this. I HATE the creeking when the wind blows though. :( :( :( This wont be moving out until tomorrow afternoon. 48 hours is WAY too long. The winds are gusting at 50 now.

Hang in there Lisa! We are thinking about you! Hoping you are safe1 :grouphug:

Be Safe! Is there anything you do to prepare for the Hurricane? Like boarding windows? We don't have hurricanes in Kansas just tornados. I think hurricanes are worse. At least you can go to the celler for protection from tornadoes. I think I would want to leave town if a hurricane was coming. So you & your family be safe. I'm praying for you.
Disney Di :grouphug:

Lisa - I hope things are ok...there is nothing worse than the stress of waiting it out. I know I am always on edge. We are thinking of you and hoping you are dry, safe and the storm has passed you.

Well, it was a long night. DS kept falling off the couch. When it was quiet around 2 am I carried the kids up to their beds. I couldn't sleep too well down there. The hurricane was still here but they weren't reporting tornados. We are now in the outer Western bands. It will be a couple more hours before it is totally gone. This is rediculous! It is much better whem they hit & move on. This one never landed so it has caused flooding all along the coast of NC.

John, Union Point Park where we went for the fireworks on the 4th is totally under water, along with the road along the bank of the river. The water is up to the bridge there too. The pier at Atlantic Beach had the end break off last night & they filmed it just floating away bobbing in the waves. It was really bad at AB last night. Watching the reporters out there & seeing the relative calm here at times was strange. (It is only 45 minutes away from us.)

Lisa - how close are you to the coast?
Hopefully it will finish passing through quickly....

Hi,

Hope you are still safe Lisa!

Look what I found on mousesavers.com:

Due to rave reviews from guests who tested the new system, staggered dining will be permanently implemented aboard the Disney Wonder. Staggered dining will also be tested on the Disney Magic 10/29/05 through 1/28/06.

Guests scheduled on MAIN dining will be assigned a 5:45 pm, 6:00 pm or 6:15 pm dining time. Clients scheduled on SECOND dining will be assigned an 8:00 pm, 8:15 pm or 8:30 pm dining time. You can request specific dining times but this request cannot be guaranteed.

Wonder when we can "request" it. :confused3

Linda
