12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Cristi - where are you staying?

Guess what guys? I just heard from my mom (who both my sis and mom are at WDW for sis's training) and she got to go in the park as Minnie today!!! She was so worried last night..stressing that she would mess up and ruin someone's first/only visit to WDW...she has been wearing oven mitts to practice autographs. She did 3 20 minute shots and was dying from the heat. She is now eligible for any other job and is going to start looking. The fur is not for her. My mom had wanted to take Samantha over and I am glad she didn't she is pretty smart and I wouldn't want to ruin any magic for her!

Lilly~ I am not sure where we are staying yet. Where are you staying? I don't know where we are eating before MVMCP. Where are you eating? I heard that you can get into the park that day with your party ticket starting around 4pm. That is what we are planning on doing. We will probably spend the early part of the day around the resort and then head over to MK.

But we found out my niece Sarah can't go with us because the school she goes to will not allow it. So now my DD Jenni does not want to go. She thinks she would not have anyone to hang out with. Jennifer is 14 years old & is a freshman in High School. Does any one have a teenager going on this cruise that would like to email my DD? I thought this might change her mind about going. :flower:
:cat: I just bought a pair of the airwalk crocs they are very comfortable. I planto buy some more for the cruise. :earseek:
Oh yes! Yeah! I have the cruise & airfare paid!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce:  Diana :dancer: Now I can't wait for the cruise. :hourglass

We are staying at the Polynesian...I got a really good rate through the AP best rate program....
I hope to buy our tickets this weekend. I was trying to decide between MVMCP and CP - we did both last year and loved them both but I think the girsl would enjoy MVMCP more...(I just asked DH and he said NO to the CP)

Last year we were there this same week as we were supposed to be on last years cruise but I was too pregnant and MVMCP was FREEZING! I mean John had a leather jacket on, Samantha had a princess varsity jacket and blanket in the stroller and me...well I got hot pretty easily but it was cold!! We did Chef Mickey before hand - it was tons of fun!!
Here is Samantha inside the park...

I tend to forget Central Florida is like that... hopefully this year it will be a little warmer. I don't know where we are going to eat before hand...probably a monorail restaurant or in the park...we got there after the beginning and it was so nice to walk into the park decorated! On our way out (we don't stay til the end) we had Santa to ourselves while watching the fireworks! I'd love to officially meet before we head to the boat!

Well - I broke down and called...bought MVMCP for the 9th as I am on the phone I am calling Dsis asking about a discount and the CM on the phone heard me and both said they have no discounts for that yet...
but we are going...now to decide where to eat!

First of all, I would ditto everything Lisa said several posts ago . . . It is really hard to believe that we are only four months or so away! School starts next week and I can hardly believe that. Sophia will go to Kindergarten for the first time on Thursday.

Disney Di, it is too bad about your niece - I am a school board member, and I believe issues like this should be the parent's decision. Every parent needs to balance school and life based on their own family. Our son went on a winter vacation EVERY year until his senior year, and he graduated high in his class, with lots of honors, and is in a Medical School program out of High School.

Anyway, I would think your daughter will have no trouble finding friends and companions on board as long as she is willing. Our son always made great friends - in fact, many times he never ate with us, came in after we were already in bed - we hardly knew he was with us when he was a teen.

We were thinking about MVMCP - did it last year, and it was cold, but this year I think we'll just get there early, take our time driving to the port, and try out the pool at the Radisson with Lisa and her family.

And no, I won't be wearing a tux - I don't mind wearing one that much if I am at a pure black-tie event, but I would say tuxes are not the majority on formal night - I may get a new suit since I've lost some weight since last year.

John

It was that cold??? Was that in early December? I hate to be cold!
We will be at WDW Dec 2nd until the 10th .....good thing the cruise will warm me up!

Disney Di, I have a 13 year old ds going. This is our first cruise. My daughter has been e-mailing Rachel from Colorado. I'm sure he would love to talk to someone else, he has asked several times if I know if anyone else in his age group is going.

But also remember - I am a native so it may not be as cold to anyone from the North who is used to snow weather!

If you are staying a week prior to the cruise be sure and check the weather before you arrive...Florida tends to have crazy weather...:)

Well - as far as formal night...DH doesn't have a full matching suite per say. He has a black leather dinnet jacket/coat and usually wears that with black pants, gray shirt and black tie. Would that be appropriate? even for Palo? or should I look into a suit....

LOL! Lilly, you saying that it was cold that week is like someone from Maine saying that they are going to die from the heat in the middle of July. ;) I remember visiting GPs up there & we wore jeans & tshirts enjoying the nice weather in the 70s & 80s (we were from VA) and they were all in shorts mopping their heads wanting to sit in front of the one window unit. :rotfl2:

When I said that it was cold on the ship on 12/4 remember that up on deck 9 you are going to feel the breeze/wind. We wore shorts to the park the couple days before the cruise. We were in shorts & Ts when we left WDW that morning & then boarded the ship. It was too cold on deck 9 for the kids to go in the pool. DS tried it but was shivering. DD put her toe in the water & started crying. :( Thankfully John & his family was on the ship by then because the kids played together & forgot all about going to the Mickey pool. :) We had packed our jean jackets so when our luggage showed up we all changed into jeans & put on the jackets.

I am thinking that I need to find DH a new suit before this cruise. No point in being uncomfortable. ;) I can't wait to see DD's face when she see's her Snow White dress!!!! :) If we get her picture taken with SW & Belle in matching outfits we will have all four.

Hi, I posted on this thread twice and would like to know about the other website. Thank you :goodvibes

Lilly~ Your pictures made me cold. And worried about how cold it might be, but then I did remember that you are a Fl Native. What was the temp?around 60 ;)
I am hoping that we will be fine. I am sure that we will have heavier coats with us anyway since we are flying out of Denver and there is no telling how cold it will be when we get back.

I just got our plane tickets reserved online this morning. $291 each ouch! But I figured that they would only go up and not down. Now, I need to get a car rented and a hotel to stay at.

actually I believe it was in the 40's at night - the stores were selling sweatshirts like hotcakes!

Welcome to the group!!! Here's the info on the website that I am updating for all the DISers cruising with us. There is one teen in the group waiting to hear from others cruising with us. Tinkerbellsmom, I think that DisneyDi sent me some info for you but there is some info missing.

This is for the DISers who are posting to this thread. Please have an adult in your group send the following & I will add it to the site & send you the link.

Family name:
Individual names & the ages of the children cruising with you:
Celebration:
Stateroom:
Dining:
Hometown:
Pre Cruise: (date arriving in FL & where you will be staying Friday night)

A short note with where you work & what activities you like to do.

Please send a picture of your family to be included.

For those with children, please send an individual picture to be put on the DIS Kids page by age group so that the kids can get to know each other a little better. Let the kids tell the others their age, grade in school, favorite thing to eat on the ship, favorite Disney character, & their favorite activity on the ship.

My email is mandlgraves@cox.net

Here is the post explaining how to get info on the group website. We are not posting it on this thread since it contains more personal info about our families. I will email the link back to you after receiving and adding your info to the site.

I agree I think vacations can be educational. This is our first cruise I think it would also be educational. My mother had offered to have my DD stay with her while we cruised but I also feel it is important for families to be together on vacations. :sunny:

Crashxray I let my DD know there is another teen going & I bet she will want e-mail your DS. I think this will lift her spirts thank you. :flower:

:grouphug: Thankyou Disney Di

:wave2: I did talk to Tinkerbellmom about sending you her information. She says she keeps forgetting. Her DD won't be going due to her school.
Well I''ll be talking to her tomorrow so I''ll put a bug in ear :listen:

The website does look great!! I just looked at it today. It has been quit a while since I looked at it lots of add ins.
Disney Di

I just looked the site over & I received just names from one family along with their stateroom number via PM. I remember replying asking that the rest of the info be emailed to me so that I could complete their family info on the site & send the link but I haven't heard back & now my PMs are cleaned out so IDK what their ID was. The person's name is Dana.
