12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

I don't even want to talk about hurricance season! Luckily we didn't have too much damage but were without power for 5 days...
hopefully we will be staying a couple days before or after the cruise...maybe after as before would run into month end close (work related)......

I'm not looking forward to this summer because we were so lucky last year. The first one of the season veered away from us & went back out to sea so it missed us & everything that went thru FL and came up the coast hit the western part of the state. We will probably see a couple of serious ones this year. :( It's just a part of living here that we expect it.

Just bumping us up. We were about to get pushed to page 3.
:wave2:

Now I know we all lead busy lives, but really, can we really slip to page THREE!

:rotfl:

BUMP!

John

That's right! LOL! Hey, everyone! John has volunteered to be the Official Chair Police for our cruise. :goodvibes

Actually Lisa, I was going to nominate you!

I think I can find my old Safety Patrol Badge (I was even a lieutenant), and we can put a small towell under it signifying your office. I'll even offer to kick in a whistle, so that you can audibly accost those towell placing chair hogs! :rotfl2:

ROFL! :) To be honest, I think that DH gets up the earliest since he usually roams the deck at 5:30/6 am and gets those great sunrise pictures. Perhaps we should let him know of his new responsibility?

Hi all. My wife and I are planning on being on the 12/10 sailing. It will be DCL #4 for us and the second time on the Magic. There still is a possiblity we may move to January but are hoping to make the Dec 10 sailing work. It has been great to read the thread so far!

Welcome wingawh! Looking forward to getting to know you.

Well...let me tell you all a little bit about myself...43 yrs old, single. Lived in CA most of my life. Used to work for Disneyland when I was in High School and then again as a manager after college. I worked for Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation for 12 yrs and recently left a Corporate Training Job with The Cheesecake Factory. I am trying to start my own business, but it's much harder and way, way more expensive than I imagined...so I will probably do my own thing for another year and then get back into a Training/Devt type position.

My cousin, Wendy, and I are Disney fans. I am more of a WDW fan. I love vacationing there and have done so almost every year for the last 14 yrs.

I love watching football, baseball and my favorite--hockey. I was bummed that there was no hockey this year. I am crossing my fingers for next year. Go Ducks..........

I am travelling with my cousin and her brood, but will have my own room this time around. Last cruise we stayed in the 2 bedroom suite. It was absolutely luxurious and decedant....but, I still had to sleep on the couch in the living room. What made it worse was the fact that I was a night owl and everyone else was an early riser. I really didn't get much sleep and didn't get to relax as much as I would've liked. As a result, my very own room with my very own bed this time around. It's on deck 7 and a Cat 11...

When checking out the official DCL website that there are still rooms in every category, except the suites. I hope that means folks will be getting upgraded....I really don't care that much as I really don't intend to spend too much time in the room

We have been on the 3-day and 4-day in the past. I am most looking forward to getting more treatments at the Vista Spa. I did the Elemis Total Relaxation last time as well as the regular Well-being massage...I hope to do those and possibly one more--probably the Deep Tissue Massage.

Anyways....that's just some info about myself.....later folks and have a great weekend.

OK - I'm taking the plunge. I posted about going on our first ever cruise in another thread and was directed here. Found out from that thread that we can actually know our neighbors on the cruise! Sorry, but this thread is very long so I'm just going to jump in here at the end. If I ever get a ton of time, I'll go through all the posts but man, 19 screens?

Here's the story on us. I'm 43, husband is 45. In-laws paying for the cruise for our Christmas/anniversary present (24 years in January, 2006). In-laws are down one deck in a verandah room so not a big deal there. I get along tremendously with the in-laws. None of those issues at all.

I'm the Disney freak and the only reason we are even going on this cruise is because I told my mother-in-law that the only cruise I would ever take would be a Disney one. Within two weeks, we were booked. It's our first cruise ever.

We live in the Atlanta area. We have five cats, all saved from an unfortunate demise. They are our children. Although we have a married 22 year old son who lives with his little family in Toledo. His wife made us instant grandparents and we dote on our six year old granddaughter. (There's no "step" anyone in our family). We love the Atlanta Falcons and are season ticket holders. Also huge NASCAR fans thanks to the daughter-in-law.

I'm looking forward to the Rainforest Room and a massage. Nothing much else planned. The in-laws have their own ideas of what we should be doing but I'm trying to avoid spending all the time with them. I love them but their habits are just so different from ours.

I'll have to go through all 19 screens of posts to get all the info but I'm sure we'll be seeing lots of you on the trip. At least I know my neighbors are DIS people!

When I get switched to high speed next week WHOOO HOOOO!!!! I will be transferring our old website to their space. I'll be able to update it & post here. We have everyone's pictures & info on it so that we can get to know each other a bit better & recognize each other when we run into a fellow DISer on the ship. Makes it fun.

Yeah Lisa!!!! ( i love the dancing banana!) I know what you can do on dial-up....imagine now with high speed??? Move over Tinkerbell, it's Lisa's turn to leave the pixie dusts behind!

Welcome wingawh & disnut8!

Jordan - good luck with your venture. What kind of business where you thinking of starting?

Here's an update on DH's employment status. People in the industry are burning up the phone lines. DH received calls from old colleagues who wants to "talk". He's "talking" over lunch on Monday and "talking" over a round of golf on Wednesday. Looks like this cruise will happen....80% sure!

Jenny

Thanks Jenny! I kind of fell into a part of the real estate industry through my cousin's MIL. She is a real estate agent and every time she does a transaction on a home she has it cleaned. That's what I am doing right now. It is very lucrative, BUT worker's comp insurance and liability as well are outrageous in CA....so I am currently trying to figure out if it will be profitable to continue....

Thanks Lisa for going through the trouble to get us all connected! Look forward to meeting all you folks......

Hey Lisa,

After reading the last few posts, I have an idea for you . . .

It is tough to go through 19 pages, (and we still have about 9 months until we sail!) can you imagine how many pages we'll have by then?

What would you think about everyone emailing you a summary of the biographical info that they have posted on the thread about themselves and their family. If it would not be too hard to paste that along with their photo on your web site, new cruisers could then get to know us in one concise place, along with the photos and other pertinent info.

If you want any help, I would be happy to help out with anything you might need. You won't believe the difference btw once you get turned "on" with a broadband connection!

Maybe we could come up with a form - for order of information only, so that the bio information could be in a consistent order?

Welcome to all the new cruisers - but I'm not holding out too much hope for an upgrade nine months out. Disney tends to fill up the ships!

I think that would be a great idea, John! So far we have just done the basic info but an "about me" thing would definitely help the newbies catch up. This thread is hopping now so I know it will be alot longer than our last cruise thread. :) I am trying to find the best deal on a cable modem this weekend.

Welcome Disnut8!
Jenny that is great that your dh has so many offers to "talk". I will keep my fingers crossed for you. :wizard: and send some pixie dust.
Lisa, you will be amazed at how much better high speed is. There is no way I could ever go back. That is a good idea that John has about more of an info page.
DD is really wanting to have some friends her age on the ship. She keeps asking if there is anyone on the cruise meet thread yet. I told her that there is still a lot of time left before the cruise and probably closer to cruise time we will see some more people. :cool1: :cool1:

Hi all again

Thanks for all the wishes, we are looking forward to seeing you all in December.

Jordan, good lunck with the business. Coming from someone who has 2 small businesses I can understand your issues.

Wishing you all a great week ahead.

Hello, Everyone

Welcome to all new comers. Had a very busy week, but wishing I was on the cruise now. Have a great rest of the weekend and a wonderful week. My DD and I are going to WDW for a few days in April. Hope the weather is good. Just can't stay away long from The Happiest Place on Earth. ::MickeyMo
