Karen -- Did everything go o.k. for your father's procedure today?

So far so good...he has to have it in him for 8 hours so he should be getting it out soon....just don't want any more information than that! Not sure how long before we get results. Thanks for asking.

We're in the same boat.....er ship.......whatever.

We get in Friday night....staying at the Hyatt in the Airport night before. I'm sure we'll be grabbing something fast in the food court.

Charlotte, there is a Chili's in the airport that is pretty good! Much better than the restaurants in the Hyatt IMO. And there is fast food too of course.

Karen, good luck to your DDad on that test. My Dad had a similar one (only from the other end) the summer before last and ended up having his colon taken out. The good news is... no chance of colon cancer!

In case anyone is wondering he got hooked back up just fine and can "evacuate" like anybody else.

I know the bleeding must be scary. I hope you find a good answer.

OK - here's an eye opener for all you warm weather people (this means you V).

This morning when I left for work at 6:30, it was 43.

When I went home for lunch it was 37.

Right now, it is SNOWING outside our office windows!

Here comes winter - heading your way Easterners!

I've got lots to do when I get home - hopefully I can weigh in on the school stuff later - I agree with most of what you all said, but want to give you some more perspective from another point of view. I'd like to hear from you too Brandi . . .

Being a teacher, administrator, or anyone involved in the operation of schools today is an incredibly hard and complex job - it is NOT like when most of us were kids - and many kids do not come from families like ours.

More later tonight.

I have a sneaky feeling I'm going to cave on this and get the tuxes.

Both DS's have begged to wear them again.

And my favorite pic of them ever is in their tuxes on the 2004 Christmas cruise.

(I soooooo didn't want to have to bring dressier shoes again. Lazy Mom.)

I had the boys in tuxes last year and dh and my Dad rented, they all looked so handsome! I bought the little tuxes on eBay for about $25 each and found them patent leather (fake/pleather) shoes at Wal-Mart for $10 each. this year we are skipping formal night altogether and putting the kids in the club while we have dinner at Palo. We'll probably do tuxes again next time we go, but if we start going anually like we want to, I don't want to have a closet full of tuxedos in every size!

Quick recap on pony tail holder offer:

:confused3 I'm sitting here in shorts and a tank top... can't believe there's snow all ready for you east coasters.

I was hoping you'd give us another point of view on this situation, John. Looking forward to it.

I am having major issues with our school. I will have to elaborate more later. My biggest issue is that my DD doesn't want to go to school because she is afraid of a kid in her class. I talked to the principal about it & feel like my concerns were dismissed. I do not feel that my child is safe in the school. I have never felt that way before. :(

Oh Lisa, That would be awful!! you know that angry smiley :furious: yes, this one. Well, that would be me. You know what DH says. Don't make me get my wife.

Quick post. Man, did we learn our lesson about the food in the Hyatt. Took forever and a day! I think DH almost melted down that night! :rotfl:

So...DD & the kids in her class have been instructed to run out into the hall way when the "bad kid" does something to threaten them. So far his favorite thing to do is pick up a chair and hold it above his head then throw it. I really don't want her in the same class with him but that would require me to take her away from her teachers & friends to go in another class & that would be stressful for both of us. She stopped crying in the mornings a couple weeks ago. I really do not want her to go thru that again. This is the same kid who threatened her & another girl that he was going to bring a knife to school & cut them. :(

So let me get this straight. There are about a dozen frightened 6 year olds watching 1 kid to see when they need to run out of the door so they won't get hit with a chair?

Perhaps he needs to be somewhere his attention can be directed in a positive manner. We have special needs classes that include kids with behavioral issues. They work with them until they can fully acclimate to the regular class structure. Do they not have these in NC?

I have to ask-- Anyone else think something's not quite right with the Dancing With The Stars show? I've noticed the last few weeks they've been kicking off people who really can dance and they're leaving behind the people who can't! Jerry Springer and Sara Evans come to mind. Now I can see Jerry sticking around a while because even though he isn't the best dancer he's still trying and is VERY entertaining to watch, but Sara Evans??? She really is the worst dancer on the show yet she's NEVER even been in the bottom 2. What's up with that? I'm annoyed because the show doesn't seem to have anything to do with who can dance but rather who has the biggest fan base voting for them. :sad2:

Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

I'm getting tired of all the candidate signs on every square inch of grass!

We have none here. No ads on T.V., very few signs and those are for local races. No phone calls, nothing. I think the republican party should just pick who they want and skip the whole election thing. Oh wait, they do that already! We never even see 1 presidential ad.

Sweet offer. I'd be tempted to take you up on it but DD and I both have super thick hair that requires industrial strength scrunchies to hold it back. :rotfl:
