Speaking of stupid fundraisers,
Here's something that happened at DH's work.
The new boss wants to hold an open house to show off her new office and department. She researched the cost of the party and is asking everyone in the department to donate $51 for the event.

Sorry, the Howard family will not participate.

ummm...would you guys believe that I only JUST NOW saw the red box that says "Page xxx of xxx" - and all this time, I've wondered how many pages I have left to read before I get to the end!!! (I think I need help!! LOL)

sometimes I just don't reply because I'm afraid it's annoying - but today I guess I'm feeling chatty! LOL

I was actually in bed...but I am really not tired...so I decided to come back. I am thinking that maybe I am nutty!!!!!

I woke up at 4 am and had trouble going back to sleep - I actually thought about signing on, but decided it was too cold to get out of bed!! LOL

The scampi is cooking and I am about to heat up the bread for dinner. DH is suppose to be home soon. I have a meeting at 5:45 at the school and I can't get away from DD fast enough! I swear she has been a firecracker since she got home. I can't stand this much longer!!!!!

OMG - I just read the bear story. wow. I hope you find some pain relief.

we came home from vacation to a large pile of bear "deposit" right next to the kids playground. we had to stop composting several years ago because they would come and tear up the composter several times in the same day.

I don't think a bear would actually attack the kids on the playset - but who really knows. we see them all the time in broad daylight. we have to put ammonia in our garbage when we put it out for collection.

yikes!! that's too close for comfort!

Diana, that was what it was like for us last year. We stayed at the Orlando airport Hyatt and took the Disney transfers. We checked in at the earliest time possible for a number and then waited until they had enough people to fill that bus. It was fine but definitely not a bus waiting outside for our individual group.

Does anyone remeber a trend in the 80's where Laundrymats and Bars were built together?

When I lived at the beach I went to a laundrymat that had a bar called Pickles next door. I would always have an amaretto sour while doing the wash!!!! It was great.

Sorry I have not been around much (although you guys probably did not really miss me). I have been staying busy at work and last night was crazy.

Things here are going pretty well but I am glad it is almost the weekend. No big plans this weekend and I think it is too far for me to drive to Knoebels (Did I get that right?). I kind of wish there was someone closer to me here. I know there is someone in Kansas City but they are not very active on our thread.

DS seems to be having a pretty good week. He seems to have developed a new friendship with a boy in his class. They have been around each other for a while but it has really just been in the last few weeks that they seem to have really paired up with each other. They both have been asking me at pick up if they can go to each others house to play. I went ahead and wrote a letter to Grant’s Mom seeing if we can get the boys together at a local park or someplace soon to let them play. It is very strange to write a letter to a person you do not know. I guess it is a sign of things to come. I didn’t even know their last names until I asked the teacher this morning. My little boy sure is growing up. and at the same time.

I think DH is going to grill some shrimp tonight. Yummy! I knew shrimp were low in points but a full pound of shrimp is only 8 points! I was shocked it was that low. Of course I will grill them with a little butter so I can’t eat a pound but I still think I can eat pretty well. I will pair it with a salad and a side of veggies. As luck would have it they had baked salmon with rice pilaf for lunch here today so I am having a seafood day.

I hope to get a chance to catch up soon but I don’t know if it will be tonight. We have Survivor and then the best show of all time after that - GA! I anxiously await Thursday nights now!

Yes sad, Maybe they should go ahead and build in a coat rack and a couple of shelves for later. I might buy one if it was manufactured by Closetmaid.

ROAD TRIP!

My DW says that she thinks it would be a nice trip so we are going to travel up to Knoebels on Saturday. We should leave about 7AM and be there around 10AM (unless I see too many covered bridges and fall trees to photograph). Thanks for all the encouragement to do this.

What time is everyone going to meet and where?

Also, the DISDog is coming on the trip. His first amusement park.

DH and I COMPLETELY agree. We would much rather crack the school a check than have to buy stuff that we don't really need and ask friends and family to buy stuff they don't need and deal with them getting cranky since they've already been hit up by tons of fund raisers that week as well.

yes, and can someone tell me who to sell it to??? no family here (except 1 grandparent set) and all of our friends have kids in the same school and every neighbor has kids in school, too!!
I did just send a check in this year - just couldn't bring myself to buy any junk this time
