Nope, I'm a Stay At Home Mom so I never get a day off. :rotfl:

How to you get to stay at home. I haven't been able to figure that one out. I am a NAHM...never at home mom...though I am trying to change that. :thumbsup2

Well it has been fun checking in real quick (and confirming that I could still post :rotfl: ) but I am pretty tired and I think I should get off now or I will find myself sucked into a conversation and the next thing I know it will be 11 PM.

DH is sick. He was not feeling great this morning and by 10:30 he was on his way home from work. Sick to his stomach and all that goes with that. :( Hopefully he is on the mend and he keeps his germs to himself. DD was pretty upset that she did not get her Daddy time tonight. She stood in her crib after I put her to bed crying "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy". She wanted him to cuddle with her, tuck her in and tell her good night.

OK, meant to comment on this, and forgot . . .

The problem is, that the kids who would qualify for tutoring come from failing schools - more often then not, it is not as much the schools that are failing, as it is the PARENTS.

So, you get a company to get all this money for tutoring, with parents who either don't give a rat's you know what about their child's education, or who do not know anything about quality tutoring. There is virtually no oversight to make sure the tutors are doing a good job, so, money down the drain.

While there will be some good tutoring options out there, where there is money, there is greed. We have seen that in Ohio with Charter schools. Lovely idea for a marshmallow world, but the truth is that most charter school score BELOW public schools, and most kids are dismally failing in this experiment that thinks that market forces can provide a good education.

Without the oversight of a community, parents, and a school board, all that happens is some fat cats that run charter schools get fatter. Rather than pay good teachers a good wage and benefits, we pour our tax dollars down this sinkhole, and the money is sucked out of our state, and the kids are truly "left behind".

As to the politicians - including Spellings - you can't understand what is happening on the ground when you only fly at 35,000 feet!

OK - enough of my rant.

They did a study here in NC and such a small percentage of the kids who qualify are actually getting the tutoring. It is a farse!

I believe that has already been verified, Captain! :teeth:

They were kind of laughing at me on the several calls I made to DCL - they said that very few people had the capability to book at 105 days and I didn't have to worry about not booking the first weekend and there was no way that anything was going to closed out at that point.

But I was only able to book the 3 of us in the "Romance cabin" onto the excursions - MIL and DS will have to wait until 75 days. They did say they would help me if we got shut out of anything for the rest of our party. I don't think the excursions we picked are the most popular ones so we should be ok.

I don't plan on giving Disney any more float on my money than is absolutely necessary ;) - so we will pay the other cabin off on the 24th while we are in WDW.

Anyway - good to know that it isn't abolutely necessary to lose a nights sleep to get your bookings in. Good luck to everybody this weekend.

so what did everyone go to bed?

I think I have a secret ---- or not so secret crush on Tommy Lee -----....just got done with Rockstar Supernova!

ok people....go to bed ----

I'm now watching White Noise....I have yet to see it from the beginning but it's a great movie.

Beautiful first day pics, John!

Really, is there anything to like about NCLB? Since the DDs are 5 years apart, I have seen them go through the same elementary school before and after NCLB; even got the same teachers for K, 1 and 2. The program was much stronger before NCLB (DD13 knew so much more by the end of second grade... now we have amazing school test scores but the kids don't learn as much). Tell me how that makes sense.

And here's our first morning before school in light rain (but I still require the photo!)
