Kim, regarding the purple ribbon that you see in signatures on the board. They are in memory of a very special little girl and her sister and mother. EmmasGrammy was a well liked poster on the board and planned a trip with her DD's family on DCL. Her DD & SIL had to cancel because they found out that they were pregnant so EmmasGrammy went on the cruise with her DH & their GD Emma. A couple days after posting their cruise pictures on the board to share, there was a terrible fire at their DD's house. The SIL had just left for work early in the morning and the computer started a fire downstairs. They found the DD with her girls in the hallway upstairs. Little Sophie was the only one who survived. She was on life support for a while but in the end her little body just couldn't recover. Everyone added the ribbons to remember them. This is the main reason that I will not let the school tell me that I can't take my kids out to have quality family time. You just never know when it will be your time.

Kim - can I ask your advice again about the facials? I see you mentioned that you are doing the marine facial. Would you recommend that I have an extraction/facial at home (sorry, I hope this isn't too gross)? Then do the marine facial on the ship. We have a very good local spa run by an Austrian woman - I live in the boonies.

Apparently there are several services that you can get done on the ship but don't appear on the list? Barb, from Platinum, is a spa queen and mentioned there is a Pamper package that is combined face, nails, pedi or something like that - she said you can ask for it even if it isn't posted.

Also, we are planning on doing the Catamaran sail on Cozumel - I think I talked hubby out of the diving. ;)

thanks for your help.

Kim,

Are you on Mountain time? If you are, you do realize that when we were chatting last night, Amy and I were up past 1:00 am here in Eastern time . . . when we stay up to make those Reservations on the 10th it REALLY will be 3:00 am! I remember the last time, I was like a zombie, and made a couple of screw ups!

Don't remember where Bella is - - Bella are you EST?

Well, I need to go shower and go into the office for a couple of hours while dd is with Grandma and aunt . . .

You guys kept us up late last night! I told Amy I have the DIS hangover too! :faint:

John1

It was only midnight for me. When I went to bed at about 1am I thought about how I'd have been dying if I had to stay up until 3am! I really think they should open it up at Midnight EST. Would be a little more fair and easier for East Coasters.

I can't stay home because I am the one who makes twice what DH does although I would love to stay home and just work part-time. If anyone stays home it will have to be him. He is a great Dad but we are not so sure he would be a great SAHD. Too much isolation for him. Besides I know myself and honestly if DH was the one staying home with the kids and I am the one who wants to I would be so resentful especially if I felt he was not enjoying it or doing it "right". In the end we figured it was probably best in the long run for our kids to have two parents who were still married than to have DH stay home. KWIM?

Ah, that makes sense. I know DH wouldn't be able to handle being a SAHD, he would go stir crazy.

I can't believe the cost of day care though. Yikes! :sad2:

I really hope you don't cancel though, you certainly deserve this vacation.

EST checking in John and the description of how I feel would be exhausted, so much so I just broke out the comfort food - I made a 1/2 fluff-n-nutter sandwich. I haven't had one since I was a kid and even then they weren't really my thing. Uhm, that seems to have changed. I wonder what a piece of chocolate in the middle of one of those would taste.

I'll probably be offline for a bit. This is a hectic weekend

Bella - I had very bad pollen allergies as a kid with some minor dust issues. My eyes would get sty's so bad that I would have to go to the Dr. and have them lanced. I had allergy shots for 10 years until I went to college. I received them starting in spring all thru summer. I had to walk to the allergy dr. while everyone else was having fun. bummer.

It really is worth it because (several ;) ) years later I have no problems with pollen etc. at all. Of course I have horrible cat allergies but I don't want to start on that long road of shots again. I know some people who are doing acupuncture and homeopathic remedies but I think my cat allergies are too severe for that, but I may try.

Anyway, don't lose hope,

I agree with Dr. Hugs - I'm about to give up the ship and I haven't even started yet. I have too much house cleaning to do to keep up with this poster happy board - it's the big transition to K toy throw out.

Lisa - do those items have to be transported to Chaccoben for the school or can they be sent? Thinking of dropping in several hundred extra hot wheels.
How come $1. a hot wheel always sounded cheap until we started to accumulate so many of them. Even I got into collecting several that I liked - LOL.

I think because they are the first to go and hardest to get.

Elaine, there seems to be a glitch in the booking program, and if you book some excursions before Palo, then you can not book Palo. And it seems to be be problem in the opposite direction as well, but most people are more nervous about getting choice at Palo.

Well what a day....I did get quite a bit accomplished and now both girls are bathed, fed and Haley is in bed. Samantha on the other hand just threw up....she was complaining her tummy hurt her so I gace her chicken noodle soup and a fruit cup for dinner. Well, now she is resting on the couch watching Willie Wonka (with Depp) with Daddy.

I was able to get in a 45min jog and DH just got back from his 45min run. !!! Now pouring myself a nice Chardonnay and DH is going to grill some steaks for us....:)

When the time come to book I am going to hit Palo first and if I happen to not get an excursion I won't worry about it. On CC I don't think we are doing anything special anyway.

also - about Palo...can I book brunch for 4? I would like to dine with my dad at some point and I thought brunch would be great!

I really doubt we would cancel but last night I was just  and overwhelmed. I know it costs $$$ but in the end I think we all really need this vacation. We can handle the costs of the cruise but it is just demoralizing to think that we work so hard and we just can't get ahead. I know I probably should not complain because we really are blessed with so much and the fact that we even have the ability to cruise DCL once much less twice is really proof of that. I just had a rough afternoon at work, DS had a horrible day at school (I really feel lost and confused lately with him  ) and then to get the notice that the daycare tuition was going up was just too much at the time. Then in the car on the way home both kids were screaming for fun and by the time I got home I felt just awful. I am sure we have all have days like that. Sometimes it just takes some time and distance to start to get some perspective.

Thanks for all of your kind words in chat and your posts. You guys always know how to cheer me up! :)

Now for some random smilies.....

Oh my, that is just a horrific story. How sad for that family! I cannot imagine.
